Perfect Family celebration.
We could not have found a better home to unite our East Coast and Southern California families to celebrate our daughter's UC Berkeley graduation. This beautiful home is clean with wonderful accommodations. The neighborhood is just lovely with beautiful views. Most important, the owner, Paul, is responsive and attentive. He was quick to respond to any questions I had both before and during our visit. I hope we have another reson to return! THANK YOU!
This is a wonderful location with exceptional hosts. It was a true pleasure staying here
This is a great location and the hosts were exceptionally cooperative and welcoming
If there's an award for the most courteous and gracious guest, Steve certainly deserves it. It was a real pleasure hosting his family.
This house was beautiful and very clean. Our family of 8 stayed and it was perfect with plenty of space to accommodate more if needed. Would highly recommend!
Well appointed, large and beautiful space. Imacculately clean with loads of towels, etc. Set up for the most avid techies. In addition, Paul was quickly responsive to one minor request for help. We would certainly use this place again.
Thanks for leaving the place as clean and tidy as when you checked in. We truly enjoyed hosting your group and will welcome you back at anytime.
Stay at Kensington
Friends and family gathered for 3 nights at this beautiful home located just 3 miles from the Berkeley campus. The location was perfect and the house was clean and spacious enough for all 8 adults. The owners were quick to respond to any questions we had, so that made staying there an easy decision. If you like to walk, there are paths nearby and we took a hike up some steps to the park overlooking the bay. Only issue with the place is the steep driveway. If you aren’t careful your vehicle bottoms out at the entry/exit. So go slowly.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay.
Jean, thanks for your nice review. I really appreciate your group's leaving the place very clean and in excellent condition. Sorry if the driveway scratched the bottom of your vehicle and thanks for letting me know that. Driving up a little slow certainly helps. I will fix it once the rainy season is over.
We had a wonderful time in this quiet, clean and spacious house. In addition to four bedrooms with comfortable beds, there are also three comfortable couches. The owner was very responsive to all texts, and we are very grateful for the ease of our stay. Great location a short walk from the tiny town of Kensington (great breakfast at In at Kensington); you can walk to Berkeley (though the other direction is a good uphill walk!) or drive in about 10 minutes. Also a half mile from Tilden Park with hiking trails and views.
A well-stocked kitchen and things in working order. The small garden is very nice with a wind-protected sunny spot with view of the bay. The outdoor space is not recommended for small children though, as it is uneven brick paving and not well fenced from the drop to the driveway.
The house is all on one level, but there is a steep brick stairway you have to take up from the driveway, so this is not ideal for someone with mobility issues.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and appreciate the use of this home!
Kensington town center is only a 5 minute walk and you can find a gas station, ACE hardware, a café, a wine shop, a coffee and cheese shop, and a grocery. BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station is less than 3 miles and bus stop for Berkeley downtown and San Francisco is with a 100 feet of the house.
Local favorite Tilden Park is only a couple of miles away, where you can find Merry Go Round, Little Farm and plenty of picnic areas. A little farther away in the park, you will find Steam Train where the whole family would truly enjoy.
If you are a golfer, Tilden Park golf course is close by and we are providing two sets of golf club for our guest to use.
Driving along the grizzly peak to Claremont Ave, you will find many spots that offer million dollar view of SF Bay. Morning drive will offer you the best chance of fantastic pictures.
For coffee lovers, Berkeley is a home to Peets' Coffee and many other gourmet coffee houses. Solano avenue and Gourmet Ghetto (Cedar and Shattuck area) offers many wonderful restaurants including world renown Chez Panisse.
Blake Garden, old residence of UC Berkeley president, is a short 10 minute walk. It is located at 70 Rincon Rd, Kensington and offers panoramic view of the city and GG bridge. A great place for picnic. It is open 8:00 to 4:30 on weekdays only.
El Cerrito Plaza located at San Pablo and Fairmount is less than 2 miles. You will find groceries (Lucky, Trade Joe’s), Star Bucks, various restaurants, Barnes and Noble, BB and Beyond, CVS and more.
