I emigrated from South Africa to the USA in 1978. I have lived in San Diego all this time. I am an acupuncturist and psychologist by profession. I come to Bisbee on a regular basis and volunteer my time at the free clinic offered by the Wellness Initiative in Bisbee as well as the Women's Shelter.
I conduct personal classes, seminars and retreats in Bisbee. I focus a lot educating groups about alternative approaches to medicine like acupuncture, homeopathy and nutrition as well as mini stress management workshops. Let me know if you have an interested group and we can tailor a workshop around your needs.
Pamela purchased this house in 2007
I am truly grateful to my friend, Buckley, who pointed me in the direction of Bisbee just months before his untimely death in 2007. I was amazed to find how much I loved being in Bisbee every time I visited. Bisbee has a charm of its own. This historical mining town is a friendly and liberal community. It offers a wide variety of pleasures - everything from great hiking & fine dining to old-west saloons, mining history, Victorian architecture and world-class birding opportunities. There are a ton of trails both east and west of Bisbee maintained by the National Park Service
My home is spacious and so centrally situated! Its an easy walk to town, right on the main road, easily accessible with no stairs to climb. There is parking right outside and a fabulous, large deck tucked away behind the front house - ideal for quiet evenings at home, or private outdoor entertaining.
The home is also ideal to serve the needs of:
- 3-generation family get away, with outdoor privacy & room for everyone.
- Private venue for spiritual and special interest groups.
- Special family event venue - private living space in the heart of Old Bisbee that visitors just love to see.
- Recent addition - guest proposed to his fiancee. She was thrilled!
-Personal or Family get away - clean, easy to maintain environment with all the amenities you need to make your stay feel like 'home away from home.
Thank you! We had a wonderful and lovely time. We appreciate the house, it was cosy and made us feel at home. Bisbee is an amazing place. Thanks again and we look forward to coming back again.
Kitchen and bath were adequate. Everything was clean. Bedding was not comfortable. Not enough seating for television watching. What was called a BBQ was a small tabletop unit sitting on the ground. Outside porches and furniture were dusty and covered with cobwebs. Convenience to town was good; made up for some of the negatives. Overall, place was fair, but not a place we would recommend or stay in again.
This was even nicer and cuter than it appeared in the pictures. Everything was clean and the house is stocked with lots of supplies, literally anything you could think of needing for any length of stay here. I also felt that the house was the perfect distance away from downtown Bisbee; about 0.6 miles - close enough to walk there in 10-15 minutes, but far enough away to be feel a bit more quiet and isolated. Overall, both Bisbee and the this house exceeded my expectations!
This rental was very frustrating for us. While the owner responded in a reasonable time to initial inquiries, she did not respond to later requests for location and for information about how to gain access to the house. On the day of the rental, a few hours before we expected to arrive, we were sending multiple email messages, leaving phone messages, and even leaving posts on her Facebook. Finally, we called VRBO help desk and believe we received a call from the owner's substitute only after lodging a complaint. In the meantime, as far as we knew, we had no place to stay in Bisbee. We also found it strange that we'd been asked for one credit card to hold the reservation, plus PayPal to pay the rent....two separate transactions, which worried us. When we arrived, our parking place was filled with a tenant from another unit, and we were advised to park downtown instead. (Later, the owner's substitute asked the other tenant to move his car so we could park.) Finally, although we had reserved the house for three adults, there were only two sets of towels...and no extras to be found. Even putting these issues aside, we found the house a little funkier than we like...older linens, lumpy pillows, and a living room that seats only two. It was clean, though, and the kitchen was well stocked with cookware, plates, and glasses.
I stayed here with my boyfriend and another couple during Pride 2015. There was plenty of space to spread out and relax. We enjoyed being able to be downtown for the events but be away from the action once we were ready to call it a night.
We really did enjoy our stay. The accommodations were perfect. We would stay again.
This home was a cute place, conveniently located and a an easy walk to all the shops and restaurants of Bisbee.
However, when we arrived, there was only one almost-gone roll of toilet paper and not any additional rolls for 4 adults staying overnight. We checked all drawers and cabinets in the bathroom and found nothing. We had to go to a store late at night to remedy this. This seems to be in issue in some of the other reviews, so it might be good to keep a stock of toilet paper for the house somewhere.
