Duck Cove Cottage is pet and child friendly! Beautifully landscaped, we offer a fire pit with benches for relaxing in the evening. We also have a grill ready and full of propane for your use! We provide linens, towels, and dishes! To the right, in front of the cottage, there is a set of stairs down to the ocean, with a small, grassy beach area to keep a tender boat, kayak, or canoe. The cottage sits in the middle of a point, and when you walk straight out the front doors toward the ocean, there is water on three sides and a beautiful view of Kennebec bay, Hope Island, and the lobster boats and buoys surrounding it. There is good mackerel fishing right in front of the cottage, harbor pollock near the islands, and seals abound, with deer shag ledge and its seals and puffins just off the mouth of the bay.

Duck Cover is the perfect combination of quiet beauty and private escape. The oceanfront location is great: we saw seals and were able to delicately dip in the cold, clear ocean. There fire-pit made for great nights of s'mores and laughter. The location is wonderfully off-the-beaten-path yet only about 15 minutes to Machias with shopping and conveniences. Communication with Joey was great! We'll definitely return.
Our week at Duck Cove Cottage was a relaxing week away. The cottage was as expected -- just the basics, no frills or luxuries - but we didn't expect them from the price. The cottage was clean and had plenty of space. The front porch was wonderful (although some more comfortable outdoor furniture would have been appreciated). The views were spectacular and the air was scented with a piney, salty combination. Very quiet and peaceful.
This place is truly a slice of peaceful heaven, with the feel of a cozy cabin. We had five in our group, (2 adults, 3 children) and this place was more than enough. The photos here do not give the house or the view enough justice. A short walk from the porch, down the stairs to the water gives you a breathtaking view of duck cove. The tides were incredible, the fog was enchanting, and during low tide we could clam and pull mussels from the rocks. This place is well off the beaten path, and is situated on a dirt road. The kids loved exploring the beach and woods. The peace and quiet is breathtaking. It's just a few miles from a well stocked grocery store and gas station. We day tripped to Arcadia (1.5 hrs), Roque Bluffs beach (5 min) and to Machias (10 min). We had fresh lobsters from a local that lived 5 min away, and the house has a pot ready to steam them outside. I enjoyed my coffee on the porch every morning, and had a campfire every night. We didn't want to leave. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise!
The house is charming, simple but with everything you need and a lot of insiste and outsider space.
My one year old puppy really loved swimming in the quiet waters, and my sons have spent the week crabbing in front of the house. The state park beach is also very beautiful and sandy.
Lobster for sale on the state park road, Nice place very friendly.
Canoe for rent in Machias, and they deliver too...
Great to have a week away from everything in such an amazing place!
