Keewaydin is a migration stopover for 150 different species of interesting birds on their way North or South, and many who live here year-round, including eagles, pelicans, and the gorgeous large pink roseate spoonbills. If you are ever fortunate enough to see one fly over you, I guarantee your heart will stop.
This is a great place to unwind. You can swim and sun, walk and talk, boogie-board or stand-up paddleboard, go kayaking, collect shells on the beach, fish from dock, boat or beach, read, write, relax and re-connect with your yourself and your loved ones, and with the beauty of nature. So I have traveled all around the world and this spot ranks high. The remoteness just made it so special, but in reality we were only a 20-30 minute boat ride to Naples and Marco Island if we needed civilization for groceries, gas for the boat, fish tacos from the "food truck" (it's a food boat on the southern tip of Keewaydin island, so cool), or just wanting to eat dinner out. We were two families including a baby and two toddlers, the fact that the house had plenty of fun items and necessity items really made the remoteness of the island enjoyable and not a hassle. Kathy & Ahmed were extremely helpful in pretrip planning and during check-in and check-out. The house is rustic, but it has all of the modern conveniences to keep you busy and comfortable - air conditioning, fans, washer & dryer, baby gear (sand toys, pack n plays, high chair), adult beach toys (paddle boards, kayaks, Adirondack chairs, large portable cabana/tent), easy to use motorboat to get around (definitely checkout southern tip of keewaydin), golf cart to bring items out to the beach or out to the boat, awesome closet full of games and toys for kids of all ages, well stocked kitchen, ping pong in the basement, plenty of bathing and beach towels, TV with cable and tons of DVDs, awesome decks for lounging (screened in for nighttime and open-air for daytime). Bring long pants and bug spray b/c the Noseeums obviously have a presence at night on this island full of vegetation. We spent most of our time on the island or boating and we never felt bored, just relaxed. Thank you Ahmed & Kathy for sharing your house, we had an absolutely wonderful week.
Great place to get away from it all! Nice and secluded!
Property owners are very nice and will bend over backwards to make sure you have everything you need! A great place for the whole family to vacation together.
Idyllic. Serene. Magnificent.
Wonderful. Sad to leave paradise. Stunning beach, water, weather. If you like remote and simple living, this place is perfect.
Perfect and Peaceful
My husband and I were looking for a peaceful retreat from our very busy lives and we found it in Yellowbird. Boating to Keewaydin island when we were dating was one of our favorite memories so we decided to book this property for our anniversary getaway. From the moment of first contact, Kathy and Ahmad were absolutely wonderful and accommodating hosts! You could not ask for better people to be assisting your stay. The house is beautiful and fully stocked with everything and anything you could possibly want or need. You can do as little or as much as you want on vacation! The beach is just steps away from your door for paddle boarding or kayaking or you can take the boat into town and go to the local restaurants. You will see deer, raccoon, iguanas, dolphin, sting ray, monarch butterflies and gorgeous sunsets! It really is the perfect island getaway. We loved being off the grid and in an eco friendly home. We hope to rerun again soon! Thank you Kathy and Ahmed for everything! We definitely recommend staying at Yellowbird by the Sea!
A week in paradise!
There is not enough space to write about all of the wonderful things my family experienced during our stay at Yellowbird by the Sea. It is truly a paradise! My children left behind their world of video games and entered a world of tortoise and iguana feeding, swimming in the beautiful water, hunting the shores for treasures of beautiful shells and beach glass, watching dolphins and thousands of dragonflies (we called them fairies), playing and laughing together...all while learning about energy conservation and being on land that is off the grid. We watched gorgeous sunsets, watched the gulf show its might (Hurricane Harvey was across the gulf) and the sky show its magnificence during storms, watched dolphins swim up to our dock and under our paddle board. Our family connected in a unique way that we will never forget. Kathy and Ahmed were wonderful as well. They are very caring and kind people. They provide everything you could possibly need and more. Every minute on Keewaydin was treasured, and we cannot wait to return!!
Best family beach getaway!!!!!!
I cannot say enough about this beautiful secluded island beach house. From the wildlife to the beautiful secluded beach, it was the best vacation we have ever had. We saw deer, iguanas, tortoises, manatees, manta rays, dolphins, huge star fish and even snorkeled for sand dollars. They have everything you need, just bring clothes, beer and food. The kids stayed in the water on the paddle boards, surf boards and kayaks provided by the owners. Kathy and Ahmid are the nicest people and very helpful with anything you may need while on your vacation. If you are looking to go to your own private island off the grid and relax this is your place. Everything about this place is perfect and we will be back again!!!!!

Back to nature - but not too far - and in comfort!
