My husband and I and two adult sons spent a very relaxing Thanksgiving at Nora's cottage. Everything we needed for cooking several great meals was in the kitchen and generally everything we needed was there. We enjoyed the view of the lake and found the cottage to our liking. It is not luxury but it is comfortable. It was very convenient for connecting with my sons who came up on the train from NYC to Peekskill and then took a taxi to the cottage. We went on several good walks along the Hudson, and visited Bear Mountain, Storm King Art Centre and Dia-Beacon - all worth the trip.
First let me say that the view of the lake from this house is very nice and the leaves on the trees changing colors is very pretty. The view inside the house is not as nice unless you like rustic and a home that you are not sure was cleaned. The refrigerator had opened food in it and also smelled. We were not sure if the towels hanging on back of the bathroom door and towel rack were clean. The bath mat was dirty. The dressers were full as well as the closets. No room under the sink in the bathroom to put our toiletries. The washer and dryer were under the house and you would have to go outside to get there. It appears as if someone lives there and moves out when rented. I do not think this is strictly a vacation rental as there were personal items in the bedrooms. This is a cute house and with a few updated touches such as new bedding and towels, new couches (one was ripped),cleaning of the refrigerator and cleaning out the closets and dressers, this house could be a decent rental. We did not stay and got a hotel room in Peekskill.
Had a great time in this very private and conveniently located home. Listing was cozy and exactly as described, really easy to get to and from the city. Thanks Nora!
The house at the lake is outstanding. Relaxing and gorgeous. And so convenient. We stayed with two families and enjoyed every minute of it. The most beautiful house and landing on a beautiful lake. Fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and toys for the kids. We will come again.
We found the place very suitable for us . near the beach.
clean warm lake . everything works. Great TV , well organized kitchen.
Thank you Nora. we will come again.
Spirit of the Lake is the perfect name for this home. It's lovely. The high point was the picnic we hosted for friends, who then frolicked in the lake. It really is a nice place to spend a week. You feel as though you're in the country -- but you're also just ten minutes away from shopping centers, urgent if you're hosting guests.. The one reason I am not giving this five stars is sort of silly, I suppose, but I hated the shower. The water pressure is awful and I was unhappy about the slippery tub. But everything else was great and the house is truly well-equipped and comfortable. Also, Nora was very patient with us when we had trouble accessing the wi-fi and the tv. God knows why we had such trouble, but she spent hours on the phone helping us. I just re-thought the week. It was hellishly hot, but there is air conditioning and that gorgeous lake. Five stars.
