About Melessa Humiston
My husband and I love travelling, are avid sailors, and all around fun seekers.
Melessa Humiston purchased this House in 2010
Why Melessa Humiston chose Hesperia
We first bought this property as a retirement home, but aren't quite ready to retire, so now we open it up for others to enjoy.
What makes this House unique
The view from the deck, the seclusion from a busy city, and the big interior space for family and friends to enjoy, is what makes this place great.

Melessa's home is a hidden gem if you are looking for a quick getaway from the city. Its about 1 to 1 1/2 hours from Los Angeles and secluded with a gorgeous canyon view. The last portion along the dirt path is a little tricky, but worth the driving challenge. The host contacted us a day prior to notify us of the complication and that we would need snowchains.
Melessa was easy to communicate with and was very understanding when I informed her that a few of my group would have to leave during the second night. She also was very attentive and responded to my questions in a prompt manner.
The home itself is amazing! Beautifully decorated and more than enough room for my group of 10. It has all the amenities that a large group could ask for: a kitchen with full amenities, hot tub for winter, pool table, grill, and deck with firepit. Melessa also left a basket of snacks and a guide of the the nearby things for visitors. The one upset that was a bit of a bummer was the low wifi speed where we couldn't stream or play music..
Overall, I feel very fortunate to have stayed at Melessa's home. It was a very relaxing trip. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a weekend stay.
Would give it 10 out of 5 Stars if I could!
Words alone cannot express how incredible this property was. Breathtaking as a description doesn't do it justice. This charming shangrila is just a few hours east of LA in a little mountain pass south of Hesperia in a very convenient location.
As the photos show, the view is just magnificent, with good views all around, and plenty to do in the surrounding area including hiking and other outdoorsy activities. The house itself is also very well decorated with really nice furniture in each room and nice touches like a humidifier and other helpful accessories. Melessa was also super easy to communicate with and it was an absolute pleasure being able to share in this little slice of paradise for a weekend. Needless to say, I highly recommend it, and would rate it 10 out of 5 if I could!
Thank you Brian! It was an absolute pleasure to host your and your group. Your willingness to explore our wonderful environment and take full advantage of all the beauty, your respect and appreciation for our house, and your kindness as a human, it all has been great. I wish you all the best, and hope you visit us again.
It was a great time and really enjoyed the stay with nature!
Awesome place to stay!
This is a beautiful place to stay. If you are looking for a place anywhere near the Los Angeles or San Bernardino area, this is perfect. You are secluded and away from everything, yet still close enough to anything you need. The photos of the views from this home are really good but they do not really do it justice. The home has basically everything you will need for a stay. We stayed there a month and highly recommend this home. The owners were awesome to work with and very helpful with information pertaining to the area.
Thank you John and family for taking such great care of our home during your stay. We are very happy you enjoyed the Hideaway. We wish you the best in everything you do.
Don’t camp! Stay in a luxurious house by the lake!
This house is large and comfortable. Since there is no houses on Silverwood Lake, this house is very convenient to lake. It took us less than 10 minutes to go from the house to the check in point of the lake. The large driveway allowed us to fit two trucks with trailers behind them. The one lane dirt road made me doubt I would have room to turn around, but the driveway was perfect to just back out and go back down the way you came.
The house was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the large kitchen and all the cookware. There was an assortment of spices and condiments if you had forgotten something. Large table for all of us to eat together was nice plus stools all around the island.
The air conditioner was very strong and comfortable in the desert heat.
The rooms and bathrooms were very nice and comfortable.
At night while enjoying the stars, we heard then saw deer drinking from the pond.
I would definitely recommend this place if you were thinking of staying at Silverwood lake.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL property, and outstanding people!
I was so happy with the service I received, and the beauty of the property was incredible! I highly recommend this rental! I will be looking for this property FIRST the next time I come back to the area. Amazing time here!
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and hope to host you again!
BTW, we are building a pool this summer, so our place will be getting better : )
