Built in 2009 this house is perfect for your family with tons to do. Located on the 'Quietside' of Mount Desert Island boarding Acadia National Park and 66 acres of woods. Very private woodsy setting just minutes away from hiking, biking, water recreation and more. The village of Southwest Harbor is just minutes from the property and Bar Harbor is only 20 minutes.
A little about our family first my name is Michelle but most people call me Shelley my husband name is Ricky and we have two young children Cooper who is 6 and Bentley who is 4 I grew up just a mile from this property and my husband is from Ellsworth which you drive through to get to the property. I went to MDI high school where I was part of 3 basketball state championships and then graduated from Maine Maritime Academy where I was known for playing basketball aswell. I now work for a family business right in town Gott's disposal I also work at Margo Stanley Real Estate as a associate broker and last my husband and I own our own businesses Miles Motorsports & Complete Car Care and Miles Lawn Care which is located in Hancock. Ricky has also worked for Morrison Chevrolet for 18 years which is now Darlings Chevrolet in Ellsworth. Rick went to Ellsworth High School where he was a part of 2 soccer state championships. As you can see we are a very busy family when we are not working we are with our family Rick is a Shriner and is part of the Nascar unit of Ellsworth so we go camping a lot to help raise money for the shine hospital. We love being outside ice fishing, snowmobiling, boating, all water and land sports we just love. I would love to answer anything anyone would like to know about me and my family.
We love this property we live at the property 8 months out of the year our children always have things to do and so do we. It is very peaceful we are in the middle of 66 acres of woods it is quiet.
indoor pool, hot tub, basketball court, swing set, volleyball court, peace and quiet, covered and not covered porch there is just no one to bother you when your at the property. But still close to everything you would want to do on MDI our property borders the parts of acadia national park.
Our family of 5 enjoyed our 1 st trip to Maine and your beautiful property really met all of our needs. As a group traveling with a 2yr old I've enjoyed our afternoon swims in the pool. Our popcorn movie night in the loft, the playground outside...and all the space your property had to spread out and run. It was nice to begin our days making breakfast before setting our to explore beautiful Mount Desert Island. Another review suggested that the property was "too far from the activity in Bar Harbor" But my family agrees that this was what added to making our stay even better. We were able to explore much more of the island while leaving the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor behind. All amenities really made us feel at home!!
My family (five adults and three children) stayed at this wonderfully secluded house on the quiet side this past July. The house and property has everything. Sitting on a several acre lot, there's enough outdoor and indoor activities to satisfy everyone. Outdoors, the property features a full size basketball court, beach volleyball area, fire pit, hot tub, horseshoe setup, and swing set for the kids. Indoors, you will be amazed with the size of the kitchen and dining area equipped with all the cooking supplies you need, indoor pool house, multiple sitting areas, lower-level master bedroom with modern two-person shower; half-bath, laundry room, and large walk-in pantry adjacent to the kitchen. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms with a large hall bathroom and a convenient family area. There is a large outdoor deck behind the house, which features a wrap around gas grill and bar setup. An additional bedroom, bathroom, and under-construction sauna are located above the pool house.
This beautiful home is minutes from Southwest Harbor, Bernard, and nearby Seal Cove. A very short drive will take you onto the eastern portion of MDI and Bar Harbor where you can explore hiking, fishing, boating, and of course the beautiful scenery. Every day, we went out and explored the miles of hiking trails, countless rocky shorelines, and tide pools. The lobster is a wonderful treat (there are two nearby pounds - Thurston's in Bernard and Beal's in SW Harbor). Don't forget the Oceanarium and the Dorr Museum at the College of the Atlantic.
The Miles family is warm and will make your stay on MDI a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Don't miss this gem!
We stayed at this property in the summer of 2014 and are just getting around to writing our review. This is an amazing property that impresses the moment you walk in the front door. Open floor plates, impressive window lines and beautiful kitchen! We had two families with four kids and it was a kid wonderland with the massive yard, pool, hot tub and basketball courts. After every day in Acadia, it was wonderful to finish off with dinner poolside and a dip in the hot tub. TVs were throughout the house so everyone was happy! This is the owner's regular full time residence and you can tell, they leave all the comforts of home for their renters as well. While we brought all the standard things you normally need in a rental, the owners had stocked the house well and offered us to use. It is very remote but that is part of its charm. You can't go wrong with this location as your home base to enjoy all the area has to offer.
From the second you get on the property you feel like you are the only people at a private resort. This property was perfect for our trip to the Bar Harbor / Acadia National Park area. If you want to get away from work and just relax at a property that your kids can spend a bunch of time outside in the spacious lot playing - this is the property for you. Everything was in great shape and ready for our arrival. Shelley was very easy to work with, and answered all of our questions very quickly leading up to and on the vacation. The only possible down side was it was a 25 minute drive into Bar Harbor, which didn't bother us at all as we are used to a long commute to work in the mornings. We went either to Acadia or Bar Harbor every one of our 7 days and the drive didn't feel too long on any one day.....enjoy the drive and the views of Somes Sound on the way into town. Southwest harbor is a fun place to spend a bit of time as well. Overall a 10 out of 10.
We had a great time at the Milles property!! Beautiful house, great amenities!! It had so much more than we asked for!! We highly recommend this place! We are planning to go back next year!!
Our family enjoys a summer road trip every year and this year we chose Maine in particular to explore Acadia National Park. Spending two weeks in this idyllic setting has spoiled us for future vacations. Our family of 6 explored Mount Desert Island and returned to this immaculate "home" and relaxed in the heated indoor pool and hot tub. The amazingly stocked kitchen helped make every meal extra special. The back deck with a barbecue and seating became our "hangout" to talk about the day. The kids enjoyed playing basketball outside and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. The pictures do not do justice to the comfort, space and of the house. Shelley answered all our questions and while we had no issues during our stay we felt that she was available if the need arose. We would HIGHLY recommend this property.
Very spacious and grand property with the touches that truly make it a home away from home. The bells and whistles are many providing for a true vacation experience. The property was immaculate which was important to us. The grounds are expansive and lovely with lush landscaping and beautiful views of the trees around the property line. We saw a bald eagle soaring overhead. The indoor pool was greatly appreciated by all. This property was perfect for our family of four. We enjoyed the ability to make our own meals in a gourmet kitchen. Sitting on the front deck or back porch while the kids play was tranquil and refreshing. Southwest Harbor was wonderful and we enjoyed the hiking and beauty of Acadia National Park as always. This was our 7th visit and we would absolutely rent this property again over ANY hotel. Staying a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor was exactly what we needed. The Wonder Land trail and tidal pools were fantastic--the kids explored for hours. One of our best vacations on record. The owners were prompt in any responses or inquiries and clearly concerned about maintaining the quality and cleanliness of the property. Highly recommended.
