Beachfront condo in most convenient location in Cabo! Steps from beach!
About Diane O'Byrne
We bought our first condo at El Zalate in 1995! We were among the first owners and have loved it! We own the two bedroom next door and now just bought this one bedroom since our family continues to expand. Our children have grown up here and now are bringing their families. It truly is paradise!
Diane O'Byrne purchased this Condo in 2017
Why Diane O'Byrne chose San José del Cabo
We love the quiet, friendly atmosphere of El Zalate! We love the convenience of being on the first floor. Our condo is tucked away so you're not in the traffic pattern but have the convenience of being steps away from the pool and beach. So convenient for snacks and bathroom breaks!
What makes this Condo unique
We sleep with our doors open so we can listen to the waves at night. There's no highway noise where we are, only the sound of the waves:)

We love this Condo complex and this particular condo.
It's our first time staying on the first floor and I was a little sceptical as I love the views from the higher balconies. But never fear there's a nice view from your patio and the easy access from the pool to fill up you cup or use the commode was a nice trade off.
The condo has everything you might need or want, its clean, and the owners are great!
The only con: the bed. Its ultra firm. If that's your thing you'll love it. We had a rough time sleeping on it and I've never yearned for my own mattress on a vacation like I did this one.
Visit if you get the chance!
Scott, We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and hope you’ll come back! Yours is the first comment we have had about the mattress; we so appreciate you letting us know! Next season we will bring down a memory foam topper for you. That way if someone wants a firm mattress, they’ll have it and you can enjoy something that melds with your body. We want our home to be a place you never want to leave!!!! Thanks, Diane
Thanks so much for staying with us! Please join us again soon! Diane
Enjoyed our stay again
We loved our stay. The unit had everything we needed to enjoy and restore while surrounded by art and books. The property is steps from one of the best stretches of beaches. This was our second stay at this property. We love it and will be back for more!
Bernadette, We loved hosting you again this you and look forward to your return visit! Thanks so much! Diane
We came to Cabo for our first trip without kids. The resort is absolutely beautiful very well kept and very clean. Nice and quiet perfect for a couple. Our room was perfect, everything we needed, clean and cozy!!!! Great location, easy enough to get anywhere you need and lots of places to eat!!! Loved this resort, loved Cabo and will return again.
We can’t wait to have you stay with us again! We so happy to enjoyed your stay! Diane
Perfect condo in San Jose
From the moment we entered the complex we were in awe. From the friendly security guards to the beautiful grounds. We entered the condo and was so impressed with the decor and how everything was perfect and so clean! The patio was the icing on the cake. Very large for a 1BR, some covered some not which is key. We were able to escape the morning sun if needed.
Beyond the first impression, the condo had amenities that are not expected but are appreciated. First, real knives! More than 4 plates and silverware! Storage containers and plastic wrap! The shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower is a nice touch.
The owners leave staples and condiments in the fridge, its nice not to buy a whole bottle of mustard for one meal. They also leave leftover beer and liquor! So a quick run up to the corner store for mixer was all we needed to get to the pool before the big shopping trip for the week.
The pools;. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas. One pool is cold...maybe a little too. The shallow pool is warmer, maybe a little too much. Apparently the hot tub is only hot in the morning and night. Makes sense, but didn't go for an evening dip because we thought it was cold! Next time...
All in all, we loved our stay. What this unit misses with the view of the surf it makes up for with comfort and convieince. Did I mention how easy it is to make drinks and take them to the pool... you're right there! We slept with the bedroom slider open..felt very safe and minimal people walk past the unit to the pool so privacy was not an issue.
We will be back and look forward to staying in this beautiful unit again.
We’re so happy you enjoyed your stay! We have made sure to provide all the comforts to try and make your stay easy; we’re glad you noticed! We love to cook and spend time in the kitchen! We love the convenience of the first floor and being tucked away from the foot traffic....glad you did, too! Love that you slept with the slider open; that sound of surf is magical. Can’t wait for you to come back! Diane

Welcome to our home in paradise! This is our home and we ask you to take care of it as your own. Use anything you like in the condo…if you use up a staple, please replace it. If you break something, please let us know. You are welcome to the liquor on the top shelf of the pantry….previous guests have left us enough tequila to open a bar! So let’s begin by getting you there!
You may take a taxi from the airport or we now hire a driver. He’s $10 more than a taxi, but he’s worth it. He has a large, air-conditioned Suburban and speaks English very well. Here’s his contact info:

We usually just email him with our flight info and he’s there to pick us up. Let him know you’re our guest; he’ll know exactly where to take you.
• There is a toll road from the airport that bypasses town and intersects with the main divided road at a roundabout in front of the La Comer store. A few miles after you get the toll ticket, there is a Y in the road; be sure to stay to the right on the road to San Jose, not the road to Cabo San Lucas/Todos Santos. The toll is $32 pesos or $2.15. They do accept American dollars; just try and have ones so you don’t lose on the exchange.
• After about ten miles, pay at the toll booth and stay in your right lane and turn right at the roundabout, heading south on the divided road towards Cabo. In about a mile, you’ll see the Coral Baja hotel on the left, Cantina Sardina and then a green and white sign on the left for El Zalate (which means “fig tree”). You’ll pass the exit for La Jolla condominiums and then there is a dirt exit on the right after about a half mile—it’s an underpass that circles under the highway. (If you miss this, keep going about a mile and make a u-turn at the Palmilla exit.
• As you come down the drive to the condominiums, our unit is on the far right, Villa 1, first floor—V1-unit 103. Park anywhere you can find a spot. You may definitely park behind garage #1; that’s ours.
Property manager is Gail at the Nash Group. Their office is at the top of the parking lot. Gail is usually in the office. You can ask for her help on anything.
The condo is equipped with Dish TV with NYC network channels (and most every cable channel known to mankind), blow dryer, washer and dryer.
Wireless is available or there is an Ethernet cable. To hook into our network, we’re at Infinitum 3834 and the network key is 4037834371 . The Mexican phone is the base. Anyone can call you from the States and Canada with no-charge and you can call home with no charge. The number is 624-146-9934 .
•Café Natalia casanatalia.com ,
- Matador’s www.elmatadorrestaurante.com , in San Jose are fabulous.
-Tamarindos is a bit outside of town and can be challenging to find but it is well worth the drive. It’s an old sugar plantation and the view of the city from the country is spectacular!!! The food is cooked in a mesquite wood burning stove and is fabulous. Rob’s favorite is the pork that is often the special. I love everything there! Prices are very reasonable; should maybe in the mid-range category. www.Huertalostamarindos.com
-The best ambiance by far is at Seven Seas at the Cabo Surf Hotel. You dine right on the water! Food is very good. 7seasrestaurant.com
• Casianos in San Jose is for the more adventurous. It’s new name is “The Tasting Room.” It is a fixed price..go with the 3courses for $65…the 5 course tasting is way too much food. The chef prepares what he has fresh...there are no menus. You can give him guidelines..seafood, spicy, etc. Everything about this place is spectacular. Not a place for kids! www.casianos.com
-La Golandrino in Cabo is out favorite there. Kinda touristy but the atmosphere is beautiful and the food very good. Great for a large group. www.lagolondrinarestaurant.com
-We have a new favorite in San Jose: Bistro d’Anvers. It’s a Belgian/Thai restaurant. Tuesday nights is the best chef in San Jose and an interesting character. It’s in the strip mall just north of La Comer. YOU MUST order the chocolate dessert. Split it for the table!. https://www.facebook.com/bistrodanvers#_=_
-Lupita’s just opened in San Jose and has wonderful tacos. Very reasonably priced sit down place. We tried the Mescal flight…fun to share!
-Don Sanchez is one of our favorites in San Jose. They have live music Thurs-Sat. Great atmosphere...food can be spicy.
- Cynthia's is fabulous farm to table food! Go there for lunch or dinner!
-Flora Farms out by the San Jose marina is not to be missed.
-El Grill is north on the four-lane and it is fabulous! For 250 pesos each, you can get more food than you can imagine. It's got a Middle Eastern flair. They sell wine but you may bring your own.
-El Heradurra is a good family place…not
