Beautiful house for summer holiday rental situated in Azenhas do Mar, (AL Local Lodging License 35335) 2 minutes by foot from Azenhas do Mar beach and 10 minutes from Praia das Maçãs beach.
This romantic house has a very nice garden with a private swimming pool (10m x 4,20m) and an excellent view to the sea.
It has 3 bedrooms, all of them with view towards the sea, 2 bathrooms, one with shower and one with jacuzzi.
It has a full equipped kitchen and a living and dinning room with fireplace and a lovely view to the swimming pool and to the sea. Earlier morning there are fishing boats 500 m in front of the house and you can also heard and watch the lovely gulls flying above the sea.
The house is new as well as everything inside her because she was constructed recently.
It is located in a very important and historical place as it was in the ancient century the summer resort of the Portuguese kings.
Surroundings: 5 Km from Colares, a demarcated wine-growing region, famous for its excellent wine, which can be tasted in “Adega Regional de Colares”. Near several others white sandy beaches like Adraga (3 Km), considered in 2003 the most beautiful beach in Europe, Praia Grande (2 Km), Aguda (1,5 Km), Magoito (4 Km) and Praia da Ursa, a naturist beach near Cabo da Roca, 4 km of distance, the westernmost point on the European continent, defined by the poet Camões as “where the land ends and the sea begins”.
In 15 km far you can find Guincho'/Cascais where the world championship of windsurf is held and famous for the kyte surf. Sintra, world heritage site declared by UNESCO, is 10 Km far from and has historic monuments like Moorish Castle, Monastery of Capuchos, Monserrate Palace, National Palace, Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Seteais Palace and fabulous botanical gardens. Robert Southey, English poet describes Sintra as 'the most bless, spot on the whole inhabitable globe'.
Near Lisbon, the capital: Lisbon, the capital is only 40 Km far from Quinta do Mar where you can find great historical value monuments, theatres, cinemas, Parque das Nacoes (theme park) where had been held the Expo 98, shopping areas, zoo and typical restaurants where you can take the excellent traditional Portuguese cooking while listening the famous Fado, for instance in Bairro Alto.
With the inauguration of the railway between Lisbon and Sintra in 1887, Sintra became popular as a summer resort that attracted the middle class of Lisbon, while at the same time attracted well known scientists and historians, who began methodically to study Sintra's ancient heritage.
Another property details: Quinta do Mar is a property with 1500 m2 that offers everything new. The owners lives nearby in the extreme of the property in a small house and may be useful for any help you needed.
We just got back from our stay in this house with our 3 children (10y, 8y and 3y). The children liked the house (jacuzzi was a big hit!), but for us there were a few downfalls. The house is located next to a busy secondary road, which makes it very noisy. It is also dangerous to leave the house by foot as there is no pavement. At the time we were there there were buildingworks going on in the house opposit, which made it even noisier and impeded on our privacy because the workmen could look into the garden... We also had problems with the poolwater which wasn't right and which was creating a skinrash and eye irritation. The owner did respond quickly when we told her about it and several times someone came to check the water, but the problem (with the ph) remained. A real shame, because by the end of the holiday the children were to scared to go into the pool... So overall, the house itself is nice, but if you want a quiet week without noise this is not the right choice for you.
We stayed in this lovely Villas for two weeks in August. We found it absolutely wonderful in nearly every way. The Villa itself, isn't very old and everything inside and out is in perfect condition. We found it very clean and is complete with everything that you might need. The kitchen is very well equipped and the TV and surround system are new and to a good standard. The villa really is a "home from home" and is more comfortable than many I have stayed in over the years. In terms of location, it is almost perfect albeit for children and the elderly it is a good 10-15 minutes walk from the beach - I think that it is not ideal terrain for a pushchair. However I managed to walk into Praia Das Macas every morning for a newspaper and a coffee.
The pool is fantastic for children with a ledge almost all of the way around and it was cleaned at least once during our stay. The only minor negative is that this Villa is not entirely private in as much as that the owners live within the grounds in their own house. We didn't find this a problem as they were not intrusive and kept them selves to them them selves, however I do feel that the price of this Villa does not represent the fact that you do not have total privacy - didn't affect us but you should be aware.
Rosa was very nice and friendly always trying to ensure that our holiday was perfect.
In summary I have rented at least four Villas around this location and this was by far the best !
This property was great - really superbly equipped and appointed with privacy of a great pool. Hosts could not have been more helpful. We are a family including 3 children and our expectations were exceeded. Location requires a car but assuming that, we highly recommend this property.
We enjoyed our family stay a lot.
- well equipped
- lovely hosts
- need a car
- beaches, shops, restaurants 500m
- Sintra 10min, Cascais 20min, Lisbon 45min
