The Dingle peninsula offers some of Irelands most beautiful scenery. To the north rises towering Brandon Mountain, while the west coast has some magnificent seascapes. The area has a host of antiquities from Iron Age stone forts to inscribed stones, early Christian oratories and beehive huts. Some parts of the Dingle peninsula are Gaelic speaking Dingle town is full of brightly coloured houses and good restaurants but still maintains its fishing village ambience. A more recent addition to the town is Fungi, a dolphin who strayed into the bay in 1983 and has been winning hearts since.
Slea Head: The Slea Head drive is one of the most scenic in Ireland as you round the promontory there are panoramic views of the Blasket Islands.
Blasket Island Day trips:
Trips arranged from house to the great Blasket Island. A haven of peace & tranquility stepped in history. Picnics & packed lunches from Marion kitchen can be arranged
The Blasket centre overlooks Blasket sound; the centre explains the literature, language and way of life of the inhabitants of the Blasket Islands. The islanders moved to the mainland in 1953.
Arranged & booked at Emlagh House. Pick up & drop off from house with a guided tour lasting two hours to four or five of the peninsulas many sites from the Bronze Age to Medieval times including sites of monastic interest, castles, tomb sites & holy wells.
Arranged & booked here too. Beginners – 1 ½ hour rides, half & full day rides for experienced riders. Magnificent beaches & mountains covered on these rides. Horses of great temperament & very suitable for the terrain.
Arranged from house, better to book ahead & of course is weather permitting.
Tours are either by land or sea. Private guide can take guests on an eco walking tour or tours by sea are around the Blaskets & the harbour taking in the dolphin & seals.
Endless range of Hills & mountains all running into the sea on the peninsula & a guide can be arranges or we can organise routes & maps for those who want to do it on their own.
Inch Beach stretches for four miles and is one of the most spectacular stretches of beach in Ireland. Synonymous with the film Ryan’s daughter, which was made on location on the Dingle peninsula.
County Kerry holds some of the greatest internationally renowned links and parkland courses. Emlagh House is within easy reach of some of the leading golf courses in Ireland such as Ballybunion, Killarney, Waterville and Tralee. Here on the peninsula we have two links courses at Ceann Sibeal (18 holes) and Castlegregory (9 holes). Both these courses are fun to play and are situated amidst stunning scenery.
We lovingly designed & built this property in 2008, it was designed to our taste, built by our family & the interiors were designed & completed by Gráinne Kavanagh, a family affair that were are very proud of!

Dingle is our native home and it's an area that we are exceptionally proud of. We have shared our knowledge of this area with guests in our guesthouse Emlagh House for 14 years & it's a wonderful experience to share and enhance our visitors stay with our local knowledge. This location is unique in so many ways, the views of the bay, the 5 minute walk to the marina area of Dingle yet on the Slea Head side of town makes it perfect for sightseeing.
Dingle is a great place to visit. So much to do and see and all within walking distance. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay in wonderful town.
After spending a week in Ard Na Mara House in June 2015, we can not recommend it more highly. Everything you could possibly ask for in this lovely home - beautifully appointed, luxury kitchen and furniture, spectacular views of Dingle Harbor, a 7 minute walk to Dingle Town's pubs, restaurants, shops and market means there is no need to drive and find parking in town. Our hosts Grainne and Marion could not have been more helpful and accommodating - right down to the home-made scones and jam awaiting us on our arrival. Dingle Town is the perfect base for exploring SW Ireland and hiking over the spectacular Dingle Way and other walking trails. Absolutely perfect home in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
If you are looking for a luxurious and spotless self catering holiday accomodation in what must be one of the most beautiful spots this side of the Atlantic, then look no further. We had a fantastic time here, we have a disabled son and have used self catering accomodation all over Europe, none come close to this standard. It could at first seem more expensive than other "5 Star" accomodation, but you get what you pay for and this is the real deal. Our Hosts Gráinne and Marion could not do enough for us, even rearranging a room to suit our sons mobility needs. Be warned though, you won't want to leave. The view from the house are fabulous and Dingle is a haven of culture, pubs and food, all served with a genuine smile and quality that is wanting in a lot of holiday destinations. A short drive from Dingle and you can be on a beautiful beach or viewing the high cliffs rising out the Atlantic. We look forward to returning.
My son and his girlfriend and I stayed at this property for a week, in early September, and had a wonderful time! The owners, Marion and Grainne (who are mother and daughter), have done a lovely job with the interior design. It is beautiful, but also comfortable and functional. (The only quirk is the hot water system, which requires some advanced planning, to make sure it's there in sufficient quantity when you need it! A slight inconvenience, but not a serious problem.) Grainne made herself very available to answer all of our questions and to help with anything we needed, including arranging a guide for us, for a day of hiking. She also gave us excellent tips about restaurants and where to catch the best live music. I truly hope to come back to Dingle and stay here again, in another year or two.
My wife and I, and our son and his girlfriend, stayed at Waters Edge House in early August. We truly loved this place. With a beautiful view of Dingle Bay from the living room and main bedroom, it is a quiet and relaxing place. It is very clean, well furnished and stylishly decorated. The photos really do not do justice to the home.
It is located within easy walking distance to "downtown" Dingle. At the time we were there, Dingle was very busy. We were grateful that the house was just far enough outside the business district to provide a peaceful oasis. We spent our days shopping, exploring County Kerry's many natural and historical sites, and enjoying golf, kayaking and other activities. At night, we enjoyed Dingle's superb restaurants and pubs, with a nightly variety of music.
The hospitality of our hosts, Marion and Grainne, was particularly outstanding. The freshly baked scones and brownies were wonderful. Also, their thoughtful and friendly help with suggestions, recommendations and directions was very impressive.
We definitely plan to return.
The property completely lived up to our expectations. Furnishings, fittings and accessories were all 5 star. The location is perfect a tranquil setting with an easy walk into or favorite town. The view is amazing. Grannine and her mother were outstanding hosts. We had to say no mas to the baked goodies on the third day. We would definitely return. The Dingle Peninsula may well be the prettiest place on the planet.
