Perfect for our Girls weekend
Lovely little village location with easy access to Reykjavík via bus. House has everything you need for a long weekend away.
Thanks for your review, we are happy that you had a good stay with us.
Nice house with 6 bedrooms accommodating our group of 13 people
The location was good. The house is clean. We like the house with 6 bedrooms that our group could stay together. It was good that each bedroom has a sink and 2 shower rooms as well as 2 toilets so even we had a large group, we didn't need to wait a long time to have everyone washing in the morning and at night. It will be even better if the kitchen is bigger and have more appliances to allow cooking and laundry machine.
Great place to stay.
Host was very helpful and accommodating. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Great location just outside of Reykjavik.
The guesthouse was great! The perfect place to stay when visiting Iceland.
We brought a group of eight college students to stay in the guesthouse as a stopover on our way to study abroad. We were thrilled to have a cozy, homey place to rest up before our long journey. The beds were comfortable, the town was charming and we all would love to come back as soon as possible! Thank you for making our visit to Iceland so enjoyable!!
We really loved hosting Chandler's group, they were nice and easy going and left the house extremely clean. Thank you and welcome back anytime

Homey and comfortable
We weren't sure what to expect on our first trip to Iceland, but we happily found Hafnarfjordur to be absolutely delightful and Harbourfront to be cozy, quiet and pleasant. Our group -- Mom, dad, and three boys, ages 12, 12 and 9, all fit comfortably in the family room on the second floor. Sirry and her son, Sigmar, accommodated us by getting us into our room earlier than usual (thank you!) after our overnight flight from New York. The room, kitchen, bathrooms and showers were all clean, and we had an excellent three nights there, with everyone in the house being respectfully quiet. Sigmar was very helpful with recommendations, including the excellent Ásvallalaug swimming pool a very short drive away. The museum next door is adorable; the coffee shop directly across the street is terrific, with a welcoming hostess, and make sure not to miss a walk through little downtown Hafnarfjordur to the cute cafe Vort daglegt braud. Best of all was the Elf Park that Sirry clued us into. Do not miss it. It is a magical green space, and under the midnight sun we were out there playing with our kids at 11 p.m. We were also lucky enough to be in town for the annual Viking Festival nearby, which the kids absolutely loved (sword fighting, fire eating, story telling etc.). We would definitely recommend this place, especially if you're looking to save some money, do not mind not having a private bathroom/shower, and want a look at somewhere not as bustling as Reykjavik. So thank you, Sirry and Sigmar!
Thank you so much for a lovely review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and our beautiful town. I totally agree that when you are in this town you should not miss the Elf Park and our wonderful museums, which are free of charge. Welcome back anytime
best regards Sigmar and Sirry
Clean and very comfortable! We rented the entire house and it was perfect for our large family. The kitchen made it easy and affordable to have breakfast before heading out for a day of adventures. There is a nice coffee shop, bakery and grocery store within easy walking distance. Hafnarfjordur is a quaint, centrally located, walkable town. Reykjavik is just a15 minute drive.
Sirry, the host, was very easy to work with. She went out of her way to give us info and recommendations.
Here is a brief description of our nice little town. Hafnarfjörður is Iceland's third largest town, with a population of over 26,000. A progressive municipality that focuses on ensuring a family-friendly environment, Hafnafjörður provides exemplary services and supports a dynamic economy. Hafnarfjörður´s local authority prioritises electronic services, providing residents and visitors with secure 24 hour internet access from all locations. This allows them to resolve issues or do business online at their own convenience. Hafnafjörður's service center, located at Strandgata 6., is the gateway to all the town´s departments and institutions and is the simplest way to access information and services. The service center is open every working day between 08:00 and 16:00. Governance: Hafnarfjörður endeavors to provide an efficient administrative system staffed by employees who, with their knowledge, care and dedication, are able to offer the best services available. Hafnarfjörður's public administration is divided into two parts: On the one hand, there is the political system. This consists of democratically elected municipal representatives who form the town council. They are also members of the committees the council appoints in accordance with Hafnarfjörður municipality's by-laws and the council's minutes. On the other hand, there is the civil service system, i.e. the recruited managers of the municipality, with the Mayor acting at their head. The Mayor is the town´s managing director and is hired by the town council. He is responsible both for implementing the council´s decisions and, together with the executive board, for the town's executive and financial management. The community: Hafnarfjörður is a unique town with an extraordinary history, where daily life and culture thrives in the middle of an old lava field. The town had a population of approximately 1400 when it was granted municipal status. Now, a century later, the population has exploded. However, the town retains its small-town air, its rural aura and its heart - which is not surprising given that the it prides itself on the largest unbroken neighborhood of corrugated iron-clad timber houses in Iceland. Hafnarfjörður, however, is not just an old town; it is also thriving, as more and more people realize the advantages of becoming a Hafnarfjörður resident. The town has grown quickly over the past few years and the new neighborhoods have attracted a diverse community of people who are well aware that Hafnarfjörður offers a great range of commercial outlets and services, an active cultural life and plenty of activities. The town prides itself on a number of excellent kindergartens and primary schools, in addition to a music school, a vocational training college, and the well established secondary college, Flensborg. Hafnarfjörður is also a sports town, with a high level of participation in sports activities, partly due to the town subsidizing the membership fees of its children. Unspoiled nature is never far away in Hafnafjpörður, and opportunities for outdoor pursuits, in a beautiful environment, are limitless. It´s not only great to live in Hafnarfjörður; working in the town is good, too. Hafnarfjörður has a diverse econ.
