2 Private Bedrooms, One Bath, large back deck & BBQ
About Cara Brenza
We are from New Mexico in the summertime, NOLA in the winter. My boyfriend Earl and myself purchased this home together. Earl has two kids living in the area and 5 grand kids, he got married in NOLA over 50 years ago, I am a new transplant. Earl is retired, I still work remotely as a Real Estate Agent in New Mexico.
Cara Brenza purchased this Guest House in 2016
Why Cara Brenza chose Bywater
Off street parking was a must for us, my boyfriend is a car collector. We really liked the double deep lot for outside activities, gardening, sitting on the back patio etc. We also liked the floorplan of the back rental unit, with it's private bedrooms and backyard deck. The deck was built in 2017, back unit remodeled 2016. The front shotgun is still as we purchased it.
What makes this Guest House unique
Being so close to the local pubs in Bywater and music events were important to us, being part of the neighborhood. Also the crescent river park was a huge bonus to getting into the French Market on our bikes, we love the farmers market on Wednesdays 1-4 pm.

Really quiet and comfy stay ...really clean...property manager was very helpful.. had one issue with a/c unit in front room ... it was quickly replaced but whoever sleeps in front room may have a little bit of a warmer stay during the summer... other than the 2 bedrooms air doesn’t circulate well from window unit in that front room area ....the property is also ducked off in a tricky spot and construction at the entrance will give Lyft and Uber drivers a problem if that’s how u plan to get around but in all I would stay again ...
Quaint. Well stocked. Clean. A/C in LR doesn't work well. Would NOT go out after dark here.
We enjoyed our short stay here - 4days/3 nights. Husband, me and granddaughter. She loved the NOLA feel of the place and especially the cats. it's a small clean place. a bit difficult to find at first. we found coming & going from the street a block over was much safer and easier than the street the house is on. It does have a parking space which is one of the main reasons we chose it. It is not close to any transportation lines but it is easy to get where you want to go from here. Most everything is there that you need. I did want to use the blender but it wasn't very clean so changed my mind. There is no dishwasher but she provides paper plates and since we ate out most meals it wasn't a problem. A/C in living room doesn't cool the space but the bedroom units work fine. I called the manager with a question the day we were to arrive--I never heard from him/her. Hope you don't need help with anything while you're there!
We enjoyed our stay and was exactly what we needed for Jazzfest. The back deck is great for hanging out when we got home after the music and the beds were nice and comfortable as well. We would stay again for sure
Really enjoyed our stay. Things were very clean and stocked with everything we needed. Location was excellent and enjoyed listening to music on the back porch from the music box venue close by.
Yes, the Music Box is a very unique venue, we enjoy the same thing when we are there. Thanks for staying and please come again.
Very cute place! Well stocked.
We had a lot of fun in this cute little place. Very well stocked kitchen, which we greatly enjoyed. Nice back porch and yard.
Thanks for staying, hope you can return at another date!
Clean and host is helpful
This house was super cute/nice on the inside! The outside was neat and tidy in our area. Our host was super helpful and responded quickly. However, the description of the house was a little misleading. It was on the very edge of the “nicer” Bywater area. 9 out of 10 u we drivers said “they wouldn’t stay in our area”. Across the street from our house was a giant wall. Next to our house was a boarded up junky house. The street was a dead end with a lot of abandoned buildings or houses. I wouldn’t recommend this house to just women. We would have felt safer if a man would have been staying with us. Even the Uber drivers waited for us to get inside before they drove off. It also was a good 10-15 mins from the French quarter and even longer in the morning due to trains. I did appreciate how clean and nice the hosts were though!
Thanks for the review, and kind words. Yes, we are at the end of St. Claude on a primary one way street, there is one brand new home under construction, windows are boarded up, and a two story white home which has been vacant for some time. There is the St. Claude bridge across from the front, we do have foot traffic on our road, but we've never had any incidents or problems in our area. There are many areas outside the Quarter that still have homes under renovation, doesn't mean that it's a bad area.
