Why Alison Sadler, Chris Snyder chose Asheville Area

This Cabin has the best "feeling" upon arrival- its hard to explain but everyone comments on this. The relaxation provided here is great. The proximity to both Asheville and Black Mountain is fantastic.

What makes this cabin unique

The Cabin interior has been designed by Alison (a production designer in the film industry) so it does not get any better than this!

Met all of our expectations

  • 5 of 5

Very nice property, well maintained and homely, family friendly!!! Just what we expected.

The Yurt was delightful albeit due to the time of year (November 4th) the weather turned cold as did the yurt ---- additional heaters would have been good.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabin and hope you come back soon.. The yurt heating must have not been clear for your use and I'm sorry if this was the case. The yurt is unconventional and it's heating and cooling is not like a regular home. There's x2 heating sources, the fireplace unit plus the freestanding heater and a/c unit. These have been /Should be more than adequate for the small square footage inside the yurt. If something was not working let me know. Any notes you have so I can make the instructions clear for future guests are much appreciated!!!! Please come for a return visit for a substantial discount:)))) Thanks! Alison

Lovely Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is lovely. Very comfortable and quiet. There's lots of outside decks and areas to sit and relax. Everything you need is already there, they thought of it all. Even flashlights and bug spray! The yurt is really cool. Our boys slept in it they loved having their own little space to themselves. Outside fire pit was very nice and I really liked the little fireplace in the basement. We had a great stay. If you like small town shopping Swanonna Valley isn't far away, some very cool little shops and restaurants. Grocery store not far away either. We had a great stay. Thanks!

Loved our weekend here!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful weekend spent in this lovely house. Great location and easy to get to Asheville or the cute town of Black Mountain. The main floor has a well equipped kitchen, nice living room area and two bedrooms. If you are more than 2 couples, downstairs is nicely setup to accommodate another couple. The back porch lets you enjoy a beautiful woodsy view and enjoy the sounds of nature. Well done Alison and Chris!

Great place to stay

  • 4 of 5

The house was close to the mountains and close to town so it is the best of both worlds. There was shopping and the ASHEville Museum downtown and tons of places to eat, like The Creperie, White Duck Taco, and not too far away The Honey Tupelo Cafe. You could hike all along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Mitchelle and Black Mountain. We saw Skinnydip Falls and Looking Glass Falls.

It was clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed it very much. Our bed springs were really loud in the front bedroom and the downstairs tv didn't work but those were the only issues. It has a great deck that looks into the woods with a little stream and was very quiet. We enjoyed it very much.

Owner's Response: Hi there- Glad you enjoyed your stay! The television issue is/ was not known to us and we would have happily come by to fix whatever might have been wrong. We have a housekeeper on call for issues like this - her number is listed on the info sheet provided upon your booking. It would have been great to fix the issues prior to your leaving public remarks on the matter. We employ the housekeeper just for these issues and we are always ready to make for a perfect stay. But if we are not aware of issues we cannot fix or change them. Again, glad you enjoyed the house and thanks for the visit:) Alison

The perfect place for a family event

  • 5 of 5

We were attending a wedding at Hidden River Events, about 5 miles and 12 minutes from the cabin, and so this seemed like an excellent place for my husband and I, our daughter and son and their spouses and our six-month old grandson to stay. It turned out that a last minute problem kept our daughter and son-in-law from attending, but five of us did make it. The house would have been roomy enough for the seven of us but it wasn't too big for the five of us. The setting is lovely: up a winding dirt road surrounded by greenery and wildflowers. The two decks were great places to vege out. The house was clean, beautifully decorated and included everything we needed and a bonus we didn't expect: a high chair that came in handy. It turned out to be a nice place for other relatives who had come for the wedding to visit us and the day after the wedding we visited Asheville, which was hopping. The only problem for us is that our Verizon smartphones had no service. But the landline, with U.S. long distance calling, and the working wi-fi, meant we were able to stay in touch with the others. We had occasion to contact Chris and Alison a few times before we arrived and once while we were there and they responded very quickly. We hope we have a chance to return someday.

Great retreat

  • 5 of 5

Two friends joined my partner and I and our two dogs at the Artist's Cabin for a too-short weekend and loved the property. One note to travelers: the long, gravel roads leading up to the house are steep; please keep this in mind when deciding which car to take! We had two cars, both of which did fine, but the SUV would definitely be our recommendation in the winter or heavy rains. Second note: Alison and Chris were so responsive both before and after our trip via VRBO/HomeAway email as well as text message -- thank you for being wonderful hosts!

The house is very private with lots of room to explore out back, traversed by a beautiful stream (which the pups splashed around in, of course). Nature disappointed us with rain, but the house offered plenty of relaxing space for reading, cooking, napping, and playing games. It was great to have both decks, and the pups could enjoy the enclosed upper deck without wandering off. In addition to your standard dining-ware, the kitchen is well-stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans, coffee, and a few spices. There is a wonderfully nice Ingram's in town, just before you turn onto the side roads to the house (~15 minutes away). The bedrooms were all well-furnished and private; plenty of room for all of us. In terms of accessibility, the third bedroom is on the lower level, which is a set of stairs below the entry-level. Don't let this deter you - it's a private suite with natural light, direct access to the lower deck, a bathroom, and cozy secondary seating area.

Alison and Chris' all-informative binder had great local suggestions, and we couldn't agree with them more about the great food at Native Kitchen & Pub. We explored Swannanoa & Black Mountain, including the farmer's market on Saturday morning, mountain biking, and a concert at Pisgah Brewery. We didn't make it into Asheville on this trip, not due to distance, just lack of time! This will definitely be our future go-to vacation home in the mountains!
