We just enjoyed a wonderful week at Port O Call 304B. It had all the amenities one needs and the condo was clean when we arrived. Steps from the ocean, and by renting this 3rd-floor condo we were able to also take advantage of sitting in the "bird's nest" each evening, and also using the screened porch. The large pool was great.
The property location is unbeatable. Gated community with well maintained gardens and golf course. The unit could use a little upgrading but overall it had everything a traveler needs. Had a maintenance request the first day which was addressed immediately.
The ocean view is everything you could expect, from sunrise to the moon on the ocean at night. The beach changed with each cycle of the tide and seashell collecting was right at the waterline. Although we are not swimmers, the water in May was warm and many adventured into the ocean. The water is actually very shallow in front of the property, waist deep for at least 20 yards at high tide.
Shopping and restaurants are within easy commute from the property and Charleston, SC was just a short drive over the Ravenal Bridge. Only during end of work day did we experience any heavy traffic as we were traveling into the city for dinner. Lots of things to do locally and in Charleston area.
the customer service was very good. They were helpful and responsive when I had questions. The condo was as advertised. It was in a great location. The only issue I had was the amount of hot water. IT seemed to run out very quickly. Cold showers are never any fun. The pool was nice, however there was always leaves and trash in the pool. I would recommend this location. A lot of restaurants and fun things to do close by. Charleston is close. A lot of fun things to do there. the marina is close if you like to fish. they have a great market and restaurant beside it. I think the name was Morgan creek grill. Great atmosphere and food was good. the boathouse is good as well. I would suggest driving into Charleston for more upscale dinning. Also the elevator was down while we were there. That made for extra trips up the stairs unloading and loading the car. These were minor things. I will give this location and a 3.5 out of 5.
Overall great trip.
This property is truly oceanfront. If it were any closer, it would be in the ocean. From every window off the back of the condo, there are fantastic ocean views. And... the most remarkable view is the sun rising out of the ocean in the morning. Make sure to google the time of the sunrise and make it a point to be up to watch the show. There are two great places to view the sunrise from the condo....either the screened in porch off of the living room and the bedroom or the private observation deck. With one exception, the property was clean and well maintained. Although, we did find a dirty wine glass that had lip marks and food substance on it. We just reused and rewashed the few dishes we did use. Other than this small problem, the entire reservation process and accommodations were excellent. The reservation process was done entirely through electronic means....through the VRBO website, through email, and SMS messages. The only time we had any human interaction was at the Wild Dunes guard gate to pickup our parking pass. The communication was tremendous. At no point did I feel compelled to make a phone call to get clarification. There is tremendous retail shopping just off the island across the bridge. We brought our own food with us, but we understand there are excellent restaurants too. One final thought, if HD quality television viewing is important to you, you may be disappointed. Although there is a flat screen television in the living room, compared to what I'm use to watching, it looks like it puts out a SD quality picture. Additionally, the bedroom has a tube television. Now, let me be clear, the location of this property makes up for any short comings it may have. You really can't go wrong here. Enjoy!!!
The unit exceeded our expectations. It is located right on the beach and offers wonderful views of the sand and water from every room and on the enclosed outdoor balcony. The unit is well maintained, appears to be freshly painted and contains clean and comfortable furnishings. The unit is well stocked with everything you need to enjoy your vacation. Wild Dunes is an upscale resort community that offers a number of different activities, from walking and biking to golf and tennis.
Worst place we ever stayed. Shabby, worn out furniture. Rusted pot lights, filthy metal air ducts, stained carpets,
walls all marked up and needed a total update. The only good thing about this unit is the ocean view. We also was not informed correctly about the beach renourishment going on in front of the unit. Heavy equipment was working 200 yards down the beach both ways. Every 2 minutes a huge dump truck went by in front of the unit starting at 6am until dark. When the bull dozer went by it shook the apartment. We should have known what it was going to like when we arrived as the front door needed painted so bad, it was pathetic. To sum it up WORST TRIP EVER!
