1140 Ocean Blvd Unit 308

  • 4 of 5

This condo, 1140 Ocean Blvd, is my family's favorite place to stay on the IOP. Unit 308 is a great choice. We have stayed in the unit above and below and all are great units. This unit is on the end of the condo away from live music, so there was no issue with noise in the evening. We enjoyed peaceful evenings on the balcony. This condo is next to public beach access but this has never been a problem. Across the street is Ben & Jerry's and Luke & Ollie's Pizza. Other restaurants are within walking distance as well. Great views from 3rd floor. Unit was clean and well stocked with towels. Kitchen well equipped. The layout of the condo is ideal. The four kids loved being able to sleep in the same room with the double bunk beds. We had a minor maintenance issue during our stay which was promptly addressed by management. The only cons about this unit and perhaps have already been addressed by the time this review has been written: 1. Some of the bed linens did seem a little thin and worn. 2. The mattress on the king bed in master bedroom was very soft and droopy. Unless I was close to the middle of the bed I felt like I was going to get dumped off the side of the bed (and I'm not a big person). Didn't sleep well the whole week due to being uncomfortable in this bed. 3. The other issue was the smell of something rotten in the fridge, like a raw shrimp smell. At first I thought my food was going bad and I kept throwing out items, but then realized it was in the refrigerator and not my food. The smell was there all week and still there when we emptied the fridge. I think I read another review that mentioned this. The only deal breaker for me would be the king mattress. If that was replaced I would choose this unit every time we visit IOP.

Wonderful Property and management company

  • 5 of 5

Just finished a two week stay at this property. Could not have been more happy with the unit or the location.

Property is very nice and well appointed. Beds are comfortable, TVs all work, kitchen appliances are newer, artwork on walls is nice, couches are great. We stayed her two weeks and felt like we were at home.

Unit was exceptionally clean upon our arrival. Further, when we checked out at 10AM following our two week stay, the cleaning crew was waiting outside. Very thorough.

Also, this unit is on the far left end of the complex. The advantage of this is that you hear ZERO live music from the restaurant to the right of the condo complex. When you park under the complex, you can hear the music quite loudly and we were initially concerned, until we entered the condo and all we could hear was the music.

Also, this location has a GREAT pool. Very nice, clean and we saw the maintenance company come daily to service the pool. Also, the entire grounds are well maintained and the beach is a simple walk out the front door.

Lastly, I have rented from Chad at Beachside vacations for over the last 12 years. When I rent a unit every year from him, I truly feel like I'm renting from a friend. He always matches me up to a property that suits my growing family's needs. And, if there are every any issues, they are taken care of within hours.

Very disappointing. Greatly in need of updating and a thorough deep cleaning.

  • 2 of 5

The unit was quite run down. Stains on the carpet throughout, chipped and cracking paint and overall it felt dingy. In addition: one of the toilets ran constantly and a sink faucet could not be completely turned off. We had three families with us and were told after booking that parking would only be provided for two cars--despite notification that we could park one car per bedroom in the unit. This resulted in an additional $50 for a parking spot across town. We waited until nearly 6pm to check in because we were told the unit was being thoroughly cleaned and checked only to find shoes, plastic bags, retainers and other trash under our beds. The refrigerator has an odor as did many of the rooms. In 5 years of staying in various beautiful places in IOP this place was truly disappointing. We will not rent again and will definitely not recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your visit to the Island and for your thoughts regarding your accommodations at 1140 Ocean Boulevard, #308. I would like to apologize for the difficulties that you experienced during your stay. I feel very strongly that any negative experience our guests encounter is unacceptable; not only to me, but also to our entire Beachside Team, and guest feedback is always appreciated and taken very seriously. Our staff takes great pride in working with our guest to make sure they have a memorable experience. It is disappointing that we failed to meet your expectations and did not properly check under the beds for any items that were left by the previous guests. We typically inspect each property three times between guests. I regret that during this process we failed to check under the beds prior to your visit. Each rental property on the Isle of Palms is required to have a business license issued by the City. This license lists the permitted cars at a property according to City Ordinances, but not every condominium complex can support the number of vehicles as permitted by the City due to limited space. The Beachside Team provides specific information about each property on our Welcome Home App, that every guest has access to once they make a reservation. 1140 Ocean Boulevard, #308 is a wonderful destination. I am so sorry that your experience was not similar to these guests that also visited this home this summer: • Very well appointed, clean, AWESOME location, family friendly! We loved our stay! Cumbow Family 7-2-16 • We were very pleased with our Beachside Vacations property experience. The check-in and check-out process was the smoothest we have ever had, and we have been renting beach properties each year for over 40 years. Moellar Family 6-13-16 • This is a great property. We stayed in the same building but a different unit last summer and enjoyed the location and amenities so much we bumped up to a 4 bedroom this year... not to be disappointed. Taylor Family 5-18-16 Thank you again for your patience and we apologize for any frustration and inconvenience during your vacation at 1140 Ocean Boulevard.

Wonderful location! Perfect family friendly condo!

  • 5 of 5

We were more than pleased with how well appointed our condo was. Everything we needed to have a relaxing family getaway. The location is perfect, oceanfront, close to restaurants and Harris Teeter. I would definitely recommend to families with children. Property was exactly as it appeared in pictures and well maintained.

1140 Ocean Blvd IOP SC

  • 4 of 5

We love IOP and have rented several condos on Ocean Blvd over the years. We like 1140 Ocean Blvd the best and unit 308 has been the nicest we have stayed in. There was a little difficulty obtaining the pool code and wi-fi password. That information could be sent via text, as the check-in notification via text was very convenient! Also we had two servicemen arrive at the condo to change an air filter while our teenage daughter was alone in the condo. We were not advised in advance of this visit. The servicemen had no identification and were not wearing any sort of uniform. This is highly unacceptable and we would caution you from having those sort of unannounced visits in the future especially with people who can not prove who they are and why there are there. Other than that, our stay was wonderful and love the new pool company you are using. The pool was much cleaner this year than last. Service at all the restaurants was wonderful as usual. We will be back.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your visit this past August to our condo and for taking the time to share with me your disappointment regarding the unannounced visit by the folks responsible for the changing the air filters. I feel very strongly that any negative experience our guests encounter is unacceptable; not only to me, but also to our entire Beachside Team, and guest feedback is always appreciated and taken very seriously. Our staff takes great pride in working with our guest to make sure they have a memorable experience. It is disappointing that the process of changing the air filters disrupted your visit. We completely understand your concerns. Where the monthly changing of air filters (every two weeks during the summer) is critical to the proper operation of the HVAC system, we need to take better steps to inform guests when the HVAC contractors are completing this process. We are looking into the possibility of using the “Welcome Home” application to share with guests that this process is underway. The “Welcome Home” application is where each guest can access the details of the rental property and also the program that sends guests text/e-mail messages when the property is ready to check in. In addition, we will ask the HVAC Contractors that tackle this task to wear a more defined uniform and will look at issuing them some type of id to wear. Thank you again for your patience and we apologize for the frustration and inconvenience during your vacation at our condo, as a result of the changing of the air filter.
