Spectacular Japanese style home with ocean view and pool. Hear the waves break on the lava cliffs just a short walk from the home.

This one-of-a-kind home features two master suites.

Each suite has approximately 600 square ft. and includes sleeping and sitting areas with satellite TV and VCR/DVD.

About The Owner

My wife and I purchased our home in Hawaii in 2000. We are pleased to offer this unique Japanese living experience to you when we are away.

The Owner purchased this house in 2000

Why The Owner chose Keaau

We looked for several years for a home on the Big Island that we would enjoy living in. The unique Japanese design, quality of construction, open living areas, ocean view, private and peaceful setting made this home an easy choice for us.

What makes this house unique

This is where my wife and I go to get away from it all. It is easy to forget the normal pressures of everyday life in this private and peaceful setting-our Sanctuary in Paradise!

We own the lot across the street from our house. The lot was hand cleared to preserve the natural flow of the lava. Our landscapers have planted many native plants. Guests are welcome to take a walk on the 1 acre lot.

The House is worth the Experience

  • 4 of 5

We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers from Vancouver, Canada.

Wanted to spend 3 nights / 4 days around Hilo for proximity to Volcano National Park,

which turned out to be ideal logistically (after a week in Kona).

The house and grounds are unique and a nice change from the typical condo/townhouse.

Probably constructed and maintained as a hobby / passion, nicely decorated.

Location is a bit out of the way but the house experience made up for it.

The owner was helpful with instructions and a late check-out.

Fun Fun Fun

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the Japanese Style Home and the location was perfect for exploring the Hilo side of the Island. While our weather wasn't the best the entire time, we did get to experience the beauty of the Kapoho Tide Pools on a sunny day. Unfortunately the weather did not permit us to experience the Volcano National Park at night. Would definitely stay there again.

Unique home

  • 4 of 5

We had a car but some people might find this a bit out of the way. On the road to Pahio from Hilo but 4 miles down a side road. Very unique home with some cool features. The home being older didn't bother us but it could use some fresh maintenance in some things. Eg. The window screens. Lots of bugs in the evenings, like "noseeums", mosquitoes etc. The king suite was lovely but the bed in the other wing was terrible and needs replacing unless you like rock hard. We had a lot of pain by the end of the week in that bed. Rural setting - lots of noisy frogs and roosters at night. But a beautiful property and a lovely home. Have to get your drinking water at transfer stations out on the hwy. Not really a big inconvenience but good to know. Some handy extras like cooler, lawn chairs and snorkel/beach stuff.
