Aqua House: Beachfront Condo (Unit One)

Property type condo

Overview

About the property

Aqua House's doors open to the aqua blue Caribbean Ocean. You'll wake up in the morning with serene blue waves right at your doorstep and silky smooth sand. All of the comfort of home are awaiting you; the kitchen is fully stocked with spices and condiments and the condos are family friendly. Aqua House is walkable to downtown and bikes are part of the rental! You may also rent a golf cart to get around. Aqua House is great for couples, families (with kids), and big groups! Aqua House has been in our family for 10 years and we love sharing it with you! Welcome!

Aqua House, Unit 1, is an ideal get-away for families, dive groups, honeymooners, lovers, friends, and people who are just plain tired out. Grand Turk is uniquely special in that it can be quiet or raucous, settled or busy, and it will offer you a lot to do or nothing to do. It's completely your choice! Aqua House is located directly on the beach just steps from the ocean's edge where there is sandy-bottom swimming or, only a few feet away, spectacular shallow reef snorkeling and diving. There are so few people on the beach--frequently nobody!--that it seems to be yours alone. In addition to the magnificent beach, Aqua House also boasts all the amenities of home. It has two air-conditioned bedrooms and two bathrooms on the lower level. Each bedroom has private access to its own bathroom. A private, covered deck on which you can read, or nap, or look at the sea is attached to the master bedroom through French doors. The upper level comprises a completely appointed kitchen including a washer and dryer, a large dining area, and a spacious living area connected to a private, covered balcony through floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. From this high vantage point, you can enjoy overlooking the beach and the sea while dining, libating, or merely relaxing and enjoying your amazing lot in life. When the horizon is clear, you WILL see the Green Flash!!

A mere 20 minute flight from the relative hustle-bustle of Providenciales (Provo to us) lies the ultra laid-back island of Grand Turk--our home sweet paradise. This very small island--not quite 9 square miles--is surrounded by soft, white sand beaches set in an unbelievably breathtakingly beautiful turquoise-blue sea. In front of Aqua House--and clearly visible from all the east-side windows--is a salina (salt pond) that is populated by myriad varieties of seabirds. There are land birds as well--ospreys, warblers, hummingbirds, etc.--making Grand Turk a Mecca for birders and photographers. Approximately 200 yards off the Grand Turk shoreline, lies the third largest barrier reef in the world which guarantees spectacular scuba diving and snorkeling year round. The three local dive shops operate small boats and take groups of eight or fewer diving and/or snorkeling, and only one boat is permitted on each dive site buoy. So, like the uncrowded beach, the ocean is similarly uncrowded--by people, that is. It's FULL of marine life! The dive shops also offer excursions to nearby islands to play with the rays, picnic, snorkel, and swim. Furthermore, fishing on the island or from small fishing boats is available as is horseback riding. Aqua House provides six bicycles for island transportation and/or touring.

Our ultimate gift to you, our dear guests, is the absolute disappearance of all the tension and the stress you brought with you. You will NOT be taking any of that home along with your beach and sea treasures!

Aqua House Unit 1 & Unit 2 may be rented together for larger groups. Aqua House rented as a pair has 4 bedrooms each with private ensuite bathrooms and 2 roll away cots (one cot per unit).

About Dana Schwenzfeier

Traveling around the world has been part of my life for many years; I have lived in the US, South America and Europe. I fell in love with Grand Turk while scuba diving 20 years ago and have come every year ever since. I purchased Aqua House 16 years ago and love sharing the pure beauty and sunshine of Grand Turk with all of my guests, most of whom return yearly.

Grand Turk is one of my favorite travel destinations. I am usually in London during summer. My home base is now Fort Myers, FL which I share with my partner Lee.

Dana Schwenzfeier purchased this condo in 2001

Guestbook comments from the owner

Aqua house is located on a serene breathtaking view of the beach. If you are looking for somewhere to just have peace and get away from it all, Aqua house is the place. Aqua house is equipped with everything you will want in a home. It's spacious and very comfortable. My family and I had a great time and Dana was a wonderful hostess. Responds quickly to any questions and had people on the island we could contact to help us with anything we need. We will definitely be back. Thanks Dana for sharing your beautiful home.

Amazing condo and remote beach -- what a get-away!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Aqua House in mid-May for one week. What an amazing, beautiful place! The condo is beautifully decorated and exactly as pictured. Dana has it stocked with very high quality linens, towels, kitchen items, and LOADS of spices for cooking. The view from the condo balcony is amazing and we spent many hours just sitting and listening to the ocean. The condo is absolutely right on the beach as pictured. We could hear the ocean at night in our room. Aqua House is the perfect place to go when you want to get away from it all! We had the beach to ourselves most days. The water was clear and beautiful; we snorkeled in the water right across from the condo (of course Dana has snorkel gear in the condo, along with beach chairs, towels, and sunscreen!) Dana picked us up from the airport, (NOTE: hopper flight from Providinciales to Grand Turk!!) took us grocery shopping our first day and was a great hostess. While we didn't need a car, there were no very nearby restaurants and we didn't feel like walking to the ones in town, so we ate in the condo. Thank you for an amazing, relaxing get-away! Hooray for Aqua House, and Dana and Lee!

Beautiful condo

  • 4 of 5

Just returned from Grand Turk and staying at this condo. The ocean is RIGHT out your patio and wonderful views and sounds of the ocean. We loved having breakfast and grilling off of living room patio set and then during the afternoon and evenings outside on the lower level out of bedroom with the lounge chairs. Make sure at night you put on bug spray going outside or you will get bit!! We had wonderful neighbors next door that were there from Canada and enjoyed some visits with them. The bikes work just fine but are old- neighbors had some issues with chains coming off..but I think they fixed it up and were on the go again. We rented a golf cart for a day and got to see more of the island in the hill areas- beautiful homes! We had no issues IN the house with bugs bites at all so we didn't use the netting around the beds at all. The condo had everything we could want. The cooling is ONLY in the bedrooms downstairs there is nothing upstairs at all just so you know. So it cooled okay but just got a little muggy and warm in the house overall. The appliances all worked just fine but are a little rusted and worn. Wonderful that they pick you up at the airport and take you to the liquor store and the grocery store and back to the airport when you depart. They don't have much of a selection at the grocery stores compared to USA but we found some things. The liquor/beer IS expensive. We did Turk Head light in the cans - a case is like $35.00 compared to imported USA beer of $87.00 a case or so. It wasn't bad beer at all. Wine is spendy and liquor. The island is very small...very friendly people and very safe. But after about 4 days we had seen every inch of the island and wasn't much more to do or see. Fun to see the potcakes, the donkeys and horses all running wild. Even had a horse up by our balcony lower level when we left- he stepped in the water buck for feet and cracked it but he just was thirsty :) We went to the Osprey hotel for dinner one night - nice but again prices are more than I was used to seeing. Jacks was our favorite spot and the Jerk Chicken was delicious!!! We enjoyed the condo and all the accessories you could want. We were just two people and had LOTS of room - extra bathroom and extra bedroom. I would recommend it without hesitation. THANKS Lucy for your help during our stay as well!! Dale and Stacy

Our Souls Are Renewed!

  • 5 of 5

I could ramble on and on about all the wonderful points that everyone else has made....I will not. All I can say is that we got more than we expected. We love your place. We plan on returning January 2016 and renting both units so that our Parents and Siblings can join us this time. If you require constant entertainment and need to be waited on hand and foot....this is not the place, or island, for you. If you want to hear the waves crash 24/7....the wind to blow through the condo....the water and sun to renew your soul. THIS IS THE PLACE. We will forever be grateful for the opportunity to stay at Aqua House. If the good Lord is willing, we will be back often. Now, I am off to schedule my dive certification! Until next time....

Paradise with a view

  • 5 of 5

Aqua House is everything and more than what they advertise. Quiet, beachfront two story condo with more amenities than a room at the Ritz Carlton. We rented a golf cart for our stay which allows easy trips to restaurants and grocery stores. Dive shop is literally 10 minute walk up the beach. Diving the Wall is what it is all about. GT Diving got me open water certified and the world of under the sea is open for visits. Island is very laid back. Locals are friendly and openly engage in helpful suggestions on dining and places of interest.

We can not say enough about Aqua House accommodations. Owner is into details for creature comfort. They pick you up at airport on which is minutes away and take you to the local grocery store on the way to the condo. I don't get this treatment at home. Thank you Lucy for getting the cable/wi-fi up and running within hours of our call. If diving is your interest, Grand Turk and Aqua House take care of business.

Beach front perfection!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great property. Better than I expected, and my hopes were high. We had an amazing time. The condo was very well equipped and clean. Beautiful furnishings and comfy beds! We swam every day, and snorkelled just off our shore and saw many fish! There were tons of shells and glass to find every day. Loved the sound of the ocean. We had a great view of the ocean, cruise ships and yes we even saw whales from the deck! Highly recommend the rental of a golf cart if you have younger children, the bikes ( while useful were too big for kids). And by the time you get somewhere you were very hot. Everyone was great to talk to and deal with. Hope to be back soon!

Best stocked house we've been too!

  • 5 of 5

We've done many houses and Aquahouse by far was the best stocked. In the kitchen there was:

Lipton's flavored teas, Maxwell house coffee, 1000 Box pack of Splenda, sugar

Microwave Popcorn

Any spices you could ever need (probably unopened)

Cooking Oils, flour, vanilla extract, salt, pepper

Fridge with mustard, jam, bbq sauce, salad dressings

I'm probably forgetting a few things.

Now on to other items:

First aid kit that contains all you could ever need such as bug itch creams, sunscreens, band-aids, disinfectant and organic bug spray +++!

All new pots and pans (I had to take the stickers off) + endless bowls, Tupperware, strainers etc etc.

Batteries, flashlights, candles, ziplock bags, saran wrap, foil, bulbs +++

Full laundry with detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets +++.

The charcoal grill is unused and brand spanking new. Also comes with a tube starter, tongs and gloves. BTW Cee's has charcoal. We visited ALL the other supermarkets before we gave up, I believe it was a Sunday and Cee's is closed, someone has to be first to buy charcoal. I would have but not for 1 meal.

To say Aquahouse is well equipped is an understatement.

The kitchen/ tv room is upstairs which took a little getting used too but it means no lugging luggage upstairs.

The location isn't too far from Duke street and can be walked/biked but we had a rental car which made things so much easier. Sometimes you need to visit all the supermarkets if you want fresh berries and anything green. They all seem to have fresh stuff come on different days.

As for the water we were told to use bottled water. I left some jugs to refill and the water station ($1/Gallon) isn't far from the house. Just make sure to buy the 1G containers not the 3.75L ones or you'll waste a little water each time you refill them (like I did!)

The bedrooms each have A/C which we put on at night around 79F, they are nice but we were never too hot. There are screens everywhere. However there are wood shutters on the staircases that are painted and can't be opened/closed. Our issue is 2 of them are opened just 3/8" but perfect for mosquitoes to enter and they will enter the house and torment you at night. There are bug nets over the beds, so you'll be safe sleeping. This had to be our only issue with the house.

Dale was great and the tour she took us on was a first and really helped figuring out where things are and what's open when. Thanks Dale!
