The flat was lovely and well located. Easy walking distance to shops and the harbor. Would definitely consider staying again on my next trip to Anstruther.
Nothing 'fishy' about this Seaside Property
We arrived on a bleak Thursday afternoon to walk in to a welcoming wall of heat. the owner had thoughtfully advanced the heating for our visit. the Property was super- spacious, very comfortable and finished to a very specification. We wanted for nothing. it is also extremely well situated for exploring the area, including the best fish and chip shop in Scotland. We would certainly have no hesitation in staying here again, if coming to this area. I would recommend it 100%
Spacious accommodation let down by poor maintenance
Having rented many times all over Scotland, we were disappointed with this property. We don't mind putting waste bins/recycle bins out for collection, but it is unreasonable to ask that you take your rubbish/recycling to the tip. The en-suite shower and the wall shower in the bathroom did not work, and the over-bath shower screen was broken. The owners were informed of these points but did not respond to our texts other than to tell us that the rubbish tip was in the next village. The skirting boards were quite dirty, especially in the en-suite which appeared to have been re-plastered recently, having dark grey walls. There was quite a build up of dust in the adjoining bedroom near the wardrobe and in the living room under the sofa. The beds were odd - 2 singles zipped together is not unusual, but covered by 2 single duvets makes them weird. The "single" duvets would not cover feet and shoulders at the same time - this on someone who is 5ft 2ins! Having seen the attractions we had come to see (it is a lovely area) we left before the end of the rental period.
Not a very fair review. We responded immediately when we were told about the water problem, my husband was over within a few hours to try and resolve the problem, it turned out that there was an external drainage issue which was sorted the next day (Sunday). I have passed your comments about the dust to our housekeeper. The 're-plastered' walls are actually, Moroccan Tadelakt and in our (and most of our guests) view is a stylish alternative to traditional tiles in bathrooms. Sorry, you didn't like the beds, our first complaint about them in 6 years.
Spent three nights here on a long golf weekend. Very comfortable and spacious with everything we needed for a pleasant stay. A short walk into town made things very convenient for pubs and restaurants etc. Great location for local golf courses. Would definitely stay again. Thanks
Home from Home
My family and I spent 4 lovely days in Melville Terrace. The property was immaculately clean and has everything you could possibly need to be comfortable. all the cooking equipment is very good quality. The booking process was very easy and the Manager Amelia very helpful.
We visited lots of local places and spent a day in Edinburgh. The people of Astruther are very friendly and we cannot wait to come back!
