I am a local girl born & raised here on the Big Island. I was raised on a Quarter Horse Ranch were I still live today. My passion for riding started at the age of 5 (thanks to my dad) :))
I have always been a hard worker that enjoys taking on new tasks. I believe if you have the drive & determination, there is nothing you cannot accomplish!
Kristin Frazier-Cheek purchased this house in 2012
My husband & I chose this property for it's curb appeal. It is truly a Hidden Gem! From the moment that you set foot on the property you can't help but be taken back by it's beauty. From the large manicured yard, to the attention to detail in the home.
“Halia's Hideaway is the perfect quick getaway spot in Volcano. The host - Kristin - was very quick to respond to my text messages when I misplaced my email with instructions to get to and enter the home; that email was sent to me well ahead of our stay and was precise and clear (my fault for losing it). Our friends who were visiting from out-of-town thoroughly enjoyed their first visit to the Big Island. The home was very spacious and cozy - lots of room for the six of us with three bedrooms and two bathrooms - easily accessible and quick to find. The neighborhood is quiet. We stayed here in early November when the temperature in the evening is starting to dip into cooler territory at this higher elevation. Sunrise was beautiful and there was not a cloud in the sky. It's a quick drive to here from Hilo; 20-30 minutes tops. Even quicker to Volcano Village, Volcanoes National Park, and Volcano Country Club. Try dining at Kilauea Lodge or Volcano House while you're here. Absolutely no complaints about this AirBnB. We will be staying here again when we need to entertain guests in Volcano.”
This home was a perfect overnight stop over for our planned overnight exploration of the volcano and other points of interest on the southern end of the island. Communication with the owner was easy and timely. Getting into the home was smooth. The gift of fruit was very nice. Everything was clean and neat. Besides our one non-hiker, we were only in the home to sleep, clean up and grab coffee in the morning before we hit the road again. The home would definitely work for a group that wanted to spend a longer time down there. The only small negative was the mattress in he room that we slept in. It was either a bit old, of just not very good. We slept fine, but a new, better mattress and box spring would be a plus.
We had the pleasure to stay at this fine home during our two day excursion of the Volcano National Park and its surrounding attractions. The owner Kristin welcomed my family of four with a gift basket of local coffee, chocolates, fruit and a beautiful Hawaiian calendar. Really nice touch!! Very clean house, with a nice yard and a quiet street... You really need at least two nights in this area to capture all that the real Hawaii has to offer you. After a landing in Kona ; we drove across Saddle Road and spent time visiting Hilo before stocking up on groceries and heading up towards the volcano. Get your pass and see the volcano at night from the Jaggar museum, . Wonderful view lit up at night and your pass is good for the next day.We spent the whole day there from the crater to the base where the petroglyphs were. 64 degrees at the top , and 94 at the bottom!.Had to hit the Volcano Winery outside the park after and sampled all their great wines! We finally finished with a sunset dinner at the Volcano House Pub watching the sun go down over one of Hawaii's natural wonders.....Mahalo Kris for a truly memorable stay!!
This terrific property was perfectly located for exploring Volcano. The house itself was clean, well maintained and just perfect. I very highly recommend this vacation rental, and plan to rent it again in the near future!
Halias Hideaway was perfect for our family of 5. We were only in the area for one night so very much appreciated the no cleaning fee and no minimum stay. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and spacious and as others have indicated, the pictures don't do justice to the loveliness of the cottage. We enjoyed the quiet location with easy access to VNP. The gift basket was a nice touch and indicates the graciousness of the owner Kristen who was also very responsive to our emails when inquiring about the property and very easy to work with. We would definitely stay here again.
My family spent 1 night at this home and it was just perfect for us. We spent all of our time at the park until late in the evening and were exhausted by the time we arrived. There was a beautiful welcome basket as well as fresh fruit and chocolate on the table as we arrived. The home was peaceful and quiet. We woke up early and headed out for another event filled day. I could not have asked for a better location & more perfect environment!
I really do not know what to say other than this was the perfect place for our family to dwell while exploring Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Its close proximity to Hilo also provides quick access to the Helicopter tours of the park. We felt very welcome and highly recommend this home for your family.
