The condo is owned by the Harlin Family. Ellis and Tanny live in Utah and have four adult children. Our oldest daughter and her husband, who is currently serving our country in the Air Force, reside in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our son is still going to college and lives with us in Utah and our youngest daughter lives in Seattle, Washington.
Tanny purchased this condo in 2011
We started vacationing in Playa del Carmen when our children where in the teens. A friend introduced us to the area. As our family grew and moved away we realized that we needed a place where our family could gather and remind us of the good times we have together. It has proven to still make memories of good times with our family and can see how this will become a place for our children to grow they family memories as well.
When we visit Playa Del Carmen it is fun for us to go and visit the charms of Mexico from 5th Street for the night life to Puerto Morelos for fresh fish. We needed a place central to the activities but away from the excitement of the night life so we could relax and enjoy the nature of Mexico. We found all our needs in El Cielo Residential area which is centrally located with easy access to the highway which offers life in contrast with nature, walking paths, bike paths and a plush residential environment offering our peaceful getaway. Not to mention the spacious condo is gorgeous.
... had a wonderful time in the Riviera maya, and enjoyed a very comfortable stay in your condo.
There was a lot of rain on and off but didn't completely upset our plans. We visited Coba, Tulum and Chichen Itza ruins, and took a Jeep expedition to Sian Ka'an reserve out of Tulum which was one of the best adventures of my life. We saw dolphins and turtles in natural habitat off Punta Allen, and snorkeled by the reef. Amazing!
Thank you again for sharing your beautiful place and expertise about the Riviera!
We stayed 2 weeks at Tanny and Ellis's condo and had a great time, THANKS! Some things not positive or negative but observations since some of the previous reviews. A huge new hotel, I was told by a local, is an H10 resort being constructed between El Cielo and the beach. They have actually taken down the back security entrance to El Cielo as part of the overall construction. It is nice if not necessary to take advantage of Tanny and Ellis's golf cart for the trip to the beach as it was dusty and seemingly much longer than 800m to the beach! If you're lucky enough that some of the other condo owners are around the complex and even luckier to get invited to their happy hour you'll find a bunch of great people from Moose Jaw, Boston, Victoria and even Argentina! Really enjoyed talking to these great folks and our new friends from Argentina even saved us on a Sunday when we got caught by a new law in Playa that you can't buy alcohol past 5pm. They sold us a bottle of wine we enjoyed with supper. Francisco was as advertised a wonderful chap! However not as accessible or efficient as advertised. When we arrived our patio door lock was broke and although we had Francisco look at it, it never got fixed the whole two weeks we were there. No biggy for the guys in the group but our spouses were a bit nervous not being able to lock the patio doors! Other things we discovered...We used "Whats App" to fetch us taxis to Playa and it worked great, $80-100 each way! On the beach the group felt they would like beach beds and we found just to the right down the beach towards Playa del Carmen the massage place that is also a Photography place will rent you beds for the day for $80 pesos each ($100 with tip). If you go there take all your recyclable cans to Vicki, she will love you for the effort! I can't finish this review without telling you about the Coco Cabanas. It's a little restaurant and 8 room resort that you will pass on your way to the beach! Awesome food, awesome people (Rod and Andreas and the owner, I forget her name) but "do not miss" this place...we all bought the t-shirts..lol!! Also I would say that El Cielo itself is still in full construction mode and not complete as yet so there is lots of construction workers and cement trucks etc. It's an awesome walk by beach into Playa del Carmen. Our group ranged in age from 39 to 54 and we easily walked to Playa in 1hr 20 mins. Overall GREAT TIME, NICE CONDO!! Tanny was great to deal with!!
The condo was beautifully appointed and everything was super clean, worked well. We would stay here again. Tanny was very helpful and the many recommendations, directions and maps in the condo were very welcome! We ate all of our meals out, so we didn't get to use the beautiful kitchen. If we had, we would have liked to use the dishwasher, which was off limits. We did use the washer/dryer once, that was very helpful. We had a short stay so we didn't get to use the pool or the health club, but both looked very inviting. We had a rental car, which we were very glad to have to visit Tulum, the beaches & restaurants. We wish the beach was closer, but it only took about 15 min by car and was not crowded. Late at night, on the way to the condo from the airport going south on route 307, the turnaround exit lane to get to El Cielo had multiple deep potholes on the right side next to the highway. We got a flat tire and had to switch cars the next day. After that, we were sure to stick to the left whenever we had to use that turnaround. My son left clothes at the condo after we checked out. Tanny put us in touch with Francisco Lopez, and we were able to get the clothes a few days later on our way to the airport. Much appreciated!
El apartamento es espectacular, amplio, luminoso, muy bien decorado. Pasamos muy bien con todas las comodidades a nuestro alcance. Es seguro y moderno. Que mas pedir?
The Condo was exactly as it was shown online. PERFECT! Everything you need to have a great trip is in the unit. Never had a problem, Clean, conveniently located around the most beautiful beaches on earth. We look forward to coming back again. Tanny was very helpful all the way around.
Tanny was more than helpful and a pleasure to rent from. Her Welcome Booklet came in handy regularly and the place was in great condition and very very nice. The local people working on the grounds were extremely helpful and happy to assist however they could. Say hello to Jose for us! We miss him and the guys already.
The condo is within minutes from some of the beautiful white sand beaches of Playa, and within ten minutes from Centro; the city center where you can shop, dine, and enjoy nights out. Be sure to visit World Famous 5th Street, where you'll find a little bit of everything!
Overall, our condo was amazing, the people are beautiful, and the views are breathtaking. I will definitely be a return visitor and cannot wait until our next Home away stay!
Wow, what a beautiful and tastefully decorated home this is! More space and amenities than I and my husband needed for our 3-day stay in Playa, but very comfortable indeed. Love the spacious foyer and open living room/dining area. The appliances are top notch. Having a washer/dryer was huge since you end up changing 3-4 times throughout the sweltering days. The in-room AC's work so well, we'd turn them off after a while, run the ceiling fans. Working Wi-Fi and cable TV (as if you have time for TV!). We rented a car, so had no issues/trouble getting around, but this would be off the beaten path if you wanted to be right in Playa. It's about 15 min. drive. We didn't try to access the beach from the property but was likely within walking/biking distance.
This place is a great spot to relax, read, do nothing, walk around. It was always super quiet, but we did see a few other tenants.
My husband and I spent 3 days here, 3 in Tulum and 1 in Cancun. My Playa recommendations:
--Have a super romantic and lavish dinner at an intimate and quiet restaurant called Pavo Real by the Sea. Make a reservation through their website or call. You'll have to get to the Amore Hotel north (about 15 mins from condo) just off the main Hwy. and their van picks you up to take you further in to the beach through a narrow, winding road that goes through the Kin Ha Soleil resort. Amazing!
--El Sabrocito del Fogon (or just el Fogon) on Constituyentes Ave across from the MEGA super store has the best tacos, steak and inexpensive. Open at 1 p.m.
--Ah Cacao Coffee shop, also on Constituyentes, organically sourced coffee, chocolate, awesome!
--La Cueva del Chango: I can't say I had the best meal here, but the ambiance is cool and the service was outstanding.
--Ruins: for a true jungle experience, visit Coba; plan to spend 3 hours there. Rent the bikes for 40 pesos and make all the stops around the ruins; take water!
--Tulum ruins: picturesque by the sea. Most ruins close by 4-5 p.m. so go early.
--Bargain handmade crafts: don't buy in the shops in town if you plan to go to Coba. On the road to Coba, there are two small towns where the people show their wares off the highway. Their asking prices start high, but you counteroffer.
--Sian Ka'an Biosphere reserve: for the adventurous, this included a 3.5 hour rough jeep ride, boat ride to see dolphins, turtles and birds in natural habitat, snorkeling by reef, swim in the clearest water ever seen, 3.5 jeep ride back. Worth it!
Viliv is located just 35 min. south of Cancun in northern Playa del Carmen with the whitest sandy beaches and bluest water of the Caribbean. The community offers 14 green areas which can be viewed on bike and walking paths that offer an opportunity to see great jungle views and wild life. El Cielo is just 10 minutes from the cosmopolitan center of Playa del Carmen with the world famous 5th Street known for its shopping, dining and the night life. The Viliv facility has only 18 condos that share the pool and Jacuzzi, a fully equipped gym a roof top sun deck with fabulous views.
The condo is located in an area that has a quiet, peaceful, relaxing feel of a getaway but just 10 minutes from the shopping, fabulous restaurants and night life of the world famous Fifth Street. Don't forget to experience Senior Frogs night life or the Fire Dancers at the Blue Parrot.
Who could go to the Caribbean and not want to take advantage of the ocean activities. You can snorkel with turtles at Akamal just a short 20 minutes down the highway. We love to go fishing with a local fisherman who will pick you up on the beach and take you fishing followed by a freshly cooked lunch on a private beach. On the beach you can get a massage while listening to the sound of the ocean waves or take a para-sail ride that flies high above the aqua blue water or rent a jet ski to splash in the waves.
In order to understand the culture of the Yucatan you will want to visit some of the archaeological ruins in the area or take a ride down the highway to Tulum or Koba. If you like a more entertaining show of the history there is a nightly performance at X-Karat that offers all the color of Mexico.
