Guestbook comments from the manager

We loved your house and we had everything we needed and more! The kids loved reading your books and in the evening we even watched two of your movies. We enjoyed the quiet here after the traffic on the Island. What a great vacation we had in Maine and what a perfect place for the kids! Thanks for having us!

Peaceful retreat in Seal Cove!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the lovely home! Everything was clean and very nicely decorated. The kitchen is bright and well equipped! Plenty of towels and the bed was comfy! We really loved coming back after a long day of hiking....went to the auto museum and bass Harbor lighthouse which were closeby and saw a lovely sunset at seal cove. We had a week so we were able to explore Southwest Harbor and rented bikes from the shop there. This was only 10 minutes away! Most of Acadia on the eastern side is about 30 minutes away but we didn't mind as we loved the peace at night! Rich was very informative and easy to reach by text! Great host!

private and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful property. My priorities are always good beds and a well equipped kitchen. This met my standards on all counts.

I loved having dinner out on the screened in porch at night.. under the twinkling white lights that create a lovely atmosphere.

Do take a walk on the Ship Harbor Trail.. easy walking and extraordinary views. We took a lunch and sat out on the rocks one day.

Cottage in the forest--comfortable and relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this cottage for two weeks in July. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The decor was very attractive, simple but not spartan. We loved the beautiful gardens and all the porches and seating options. It was wonderful to be inside looking out all the windows to the forest all around. We appreciated the thoughtfulness of little things like plenty of towels, extra blankets, etc. We cooked quite a bit because restaurants on the island are quite expensive, especially for dinner. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils, plates, and cookware. The setting feels private, and, though there is a road adjacent to the property, the traffic was minimal. The location is in a quiet area of the island, but only ten minutes' drive to SW Harbor. Richard, the owner, is courteous and considerate, and we felt welcomed. I would recommend renting this cottage!

A Wonderful Vacation House!

  • 5 of 5

What an absolutely beautiful home! We had a fantastic two-week stay at Seal Cove Cottage this summer and could not have asked for better accommodations. The house is impeccably maintained and incredibly comfortable. The listing description is extremely accurate, but nothing can fully prepare you for how lovely this cottage is!

Everything about our stay at Seal Cove Cottage was welcoming and comfortable, from the well-appointed kitchen to the beautiful master bedroom. It has plenty of cozy spots for reading and relaxing, including a lovely screened-in porch that feels like it's nestled among the surrounding trees. We were lucky to enjoy gorgeous weather on our trip, and sunlight streamed through the woods and into the house's many windows each day.

The location of this house is also fantastic. It's just a minute away from Route 102, making it easy to reach Acadia's Quiet Side attractions, from Long Pond and Acadia Mountain to Wonderland and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. But, because the house is tucked away on a beautiful piece of wooded property, you can really enjoy your privacy as well.

Rich could not have been a better host. He is extremely communicative and responsive. He answered our many questions promptly and offered tons of helpful advice. Rich is genuinely invested in making sure that you have a wonderful stay in Seal Cove.

We cannot recommend Seal Cove Cottage highly enough.

Quietside Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this great cottage the end of June and had a wonderful vacation week! Being away from the crowds on "the Quietside" of the island is what we wanted. We were close to some of our favorite trails (Wonderland and Ships' Harbor) as well as Southwest Harbor, Echo Lake, Bass Harbor Lighthouse and Seawall. The cottage was truly a home away from home. It had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable with lots of space. The owners were great, very responsive and really helpful with recommendations of places in Acadia to see and all the fun things to do. Acadia is beautiful and we hope to be back soon. Thank you Richard and Mary!

SO clean and comfortable A porch-lover's paradise!

  • 5 of 5

This home offered so much! Beautiful sunlight, places for the family to spread out or gather, a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and, of course, so many porches. We couldn't have asked for more; these owners thought of everything! They were also accessible by phone or email and extremely prompt and helpful with matters of payment and suggestions for exploring all Acadia has to offer. Our family appreciated the location away from the hustle and bustle of busy Bar Harbor (with its crowds of cruise ship passengers), and near the gorgeous inland lakes, Long Pond and Echo Lake. The kids especially loved the fresh blueberries they picked from the well-maintained backyard. We hope to return!
