Seal Cove Cottage is nestled into a lovely, private wooded site that includes a large flower garden and a large patio surrounded by native Maine blueberries. Welcoming, comfortable and peaceful are just some of the adjectives used by our guests to describe their stay. The home has two bedrooms on the upper floor as well as a futon located in the loft space between the bedrooms. The master bedroom has twin closets, a king sized bed and a reading nook for two, overlooking the patio. The second bedroom has two twin beds and a large walk in closet that younger children love to use as their own little 'apartment'!
The first floor of the home includes an open concept layout with living room, fully equipped kitchen, sun room, pantry, full bath room as well as a screened in porch and a wrap around deck.
Other amenities include washer and dryer, dishwasher, fully equipped kitchen with microwave oven, coffee maker, etc, and a flat screen TV with a VHS/DVD player.
We do not allow smoking on the property, nor do we allow pets.
We loved your house and we had everything we needed and more! The kids loved reading your books and in the evening we even watched two of your movies. We enjoyed the quiet here after the traffic on the Island. What a great vacation we had in Maine and what a perfect place for the kids! Thanks for having us!
What an absolutely beautiful home! We had a fantastic two-week stay at Seal Cove Cottage this summer and could not have asked for better accommodations. The house is impeccably maintained and incredibly comfortable. The listing description is extremely accurate, but nothing can fully prepare you for how lovely this cottage is!
Everything about our stay at Seal Cove Cottage was welcoming and comfortable, from the well-appointed kitchen to the beautiful master bedroom. It has plenty of cozy spots for reading and relaxing, including a lovely screened-in porch that feels like it's nestled among the surrounding trees. We were lucky to enjoy gorgeous weather on our trip, and sunlight streamed through the woods and into the house's many windows each day.
The location of this house is also fantastic. It's just a minute away from Route 102, making it easy to reach Acadia's Quiet Side attractions, from Long Pond and Acadia Mountain to Wonderland and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. But, because the house is tucked away on a beautiful piece of wooded property, you can really enjoy your privacy as well.
Rich could not have been a better host. He is extremely communicative and responsive. He answered our many questions promptly and offered tons of helpful advice. Rich is genuinely invested in making sure that you have a wonderful stay in Seal Cove.
We cannot recommend Seal Cove Cottage highly enough.
We stayed at this great cottage the end of June and had a wonderful vacation week! Being away from the crowds on "the Quietside" of the island is what we wanted. We were close to some of our favorite trails (Wonderland and Ships' Harbor) as well as Southwest Harbor, Echo Lake, Bass Harbor Lighthouse and Seawall. The cottage was truly a home away from home. It had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable with lots of space. The owners were great, very responsive and really helpful with recommendations of places in Acadia to see and all the fun things to do. Acadia is beautiful and we hope to be back soon. Thank you Richard and Mary!
This home offered so much! Beautiful sunlight, places for the family to spread out or gather, a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and, of course, so many porches. We couldn't have asked for more; these owners thought of everything! They were also accessible by phone or email and extremely prompt and helpful with matters of payment and suggestions for exploring all Acadia has to offer. Our family appreciated the location away from the hustle and bustle of busy Bar Harbor (with its crowds of cruise ship passengers), and near the gorgeous inland lakes, Long Pond and Echo Lake. The kids especially loved the fresh blueberries they picked from the well-maintained backyard. We hope to return!
My family had an amazing vacation on Mt. Desert Island and we were sad to leave. This house was perfect for our family of 5. It was clean and well-equipped with all the amenities from home including linens and towels. We loved the screened-in porch and ate most meals out there. The location was great as we enjoyed being on the "quiet-side" of the island. We had a short drive to amazing sunsets, hiking, and kayaking. We did spend time in Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor and even though they were on the other side of the island, the drive was beautiful with gorgeous scenery everywhere. Rich gave us great recommendations in regards to things to do and places to eat. We highly recommend this property and would absolutely rent again.
Seal Cove Cottage is a beautiful home that is impeccably kept. The extra amenities for home operation (like plenty of soaps and towels) made it extra special and took away much of stress of packing and planning for the week. Everything in the home is tastefully and thoughtfully done. We additionally enjoyed Seal Cove and its sunsets. We highly recommend this home to others and thank the owners for sharing it with us.
This was the perfect space and location to enjoy all of Mt Desert Island. The house is very clean and comfortable, with multiple spaces for individual and family activities such as reading nooks and a screened in porch. We were able to access our favorite hiking and biking spots with short 20 minute drives, and Bar Harbor is just a bit farther. Owner was responsive and renting was easy. I highly recommend this cottage, and we will rent again!
