The house was great. Everything was just as shown in the pictures and even though your not right on the beach the view and sound of the waves are close enough to enjoy. We would stay here again for sure.
I recently went with my wife and her parents, siblings, and niece/nephew, and I can't imagine it could have worked out any better. First of all, the pool on the deck was amazing, especially for our 6 year old niece who spent at least 2 hours a day in it. Great deck with outdoor table chairs, and the second deck in the roof offered sensational sunset/beach watching. The kitchen was really nice, and it was a short 3 minute walk from a beach entrance. Also, the hammock chairs below the deck were clutch napping locations.
We had 6 adults and 2 children, and this home accomadated us perfectly. I would imagine this place getting a little cramped if you had more than 10 people, and if you have a group larger than six, I would bring lawn chairs for the deck.
Overall, this was a wonderful experience and provided lasting memories for our family. Thank you guys!
We had a great time --4 momma friends with all our kids. Plenty of space and great location --block and a half to beach or the bay. We took full advantage of both. Spending mornings on the beach and evenings on the bay catching crabs and watching the gorgeous sunset. Kids loved the cow's nest which was affectionately named "the biew" (my 3 yo daughter's pronunciation of " the view"). We watched the birds during the day and the moon at night. Daughing Island is a lovely place to rest and relax with good friends and family.
We could not have asked for a better house, I mean, home. Cleaned and well maintained and supplied. Very cordial owners with a warm southern accent. HIGHLY RECOMMEND It was a big bonus to learn we had beach access just down the block! The Upper Deck was great to lay out and watch the stars and listen to the ocean!
We ventured to the Shell Indian park one dark evening to see if we could encounter any history...let's just say that we are all glad we ran out together and made it back to the vehicle! YIKES!!
The Dauphin Island Estuarium was a great morning adventure! Touching the sting rays was amazing! oh, and the Hammer Head Shark!!
We took the ferry over to Fort Morgan. We did see dolphins and plenty of oil and natural gas rigs. Then we ventured on to Gulf Shores. That was a little more of a trek than we anticipated. But the parasailing was AWESOME!! There is parasailing on Dauphin Island, we were just unable to connect up to their busy schedule with our limited time on the island.
We enjoyed the quaint little shops and the local "DI-mart". We had most of our meals at the house. But did venture down to the Southern Lights down by the ocean. Service was ok, meal was ok, view was spectacular. We walked down to the ocean after supper. Beautiful sunset!
And of course the beach! Many hours relaxing by the shore, chasing the crabs at night and collecting shells.
This property has everything you need to make your vacation enjoyable. Easy access to the beach and can tie your boat up right out onto the deck located in a cancal. Joan does everything to make your stay comfortable. This was one of the few times I was able to sleep, the bed was comfortable. I can not say enough nice things about this property. You will not be disappointed. We had plenty of room for our family and never felt like we were on top of each other. Thanks again Mac and Joan for making this a wonderful trip for my family, your hospitality is second to none:-)
We had a wonder time at the Hart's De-lite house. 13 of us (the wife and I, 6 children, 2 in-laws, and 3 grandchildren) for the weekend , The guys went deep sea fishing and the women and children hung out at the beach, All had a great time at a great place. Thanks!
Dauphin Island is a laid-back, non-commercialized vacation destination with a grocery, bakery and several restaurants serving pizza, ice cream and burgers to great seafood and steaks. Water park fun is accessable by auto ferry (makes a great day trip). Attractions on the island include the Estauarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Ft Morgan, several Bird Watching and wildlife sites. Fish on the beach or fishing pier, charter a boat for site seeing or deep sea fishing.; or just come to Relax.
