I grew up in Southern California and have always loved being close to the water.
Having grown up in Southern California, when the opportunity came to purchase an additional property as a place for friends and family to stay when they were visiting, my wife and I jumped at the chance. Orange County provides the perfect balance between activities and relaxation. Laguna Beach is known for its artistic nature, and this location is within walking distance of art galleries, fantastic restaurants and the beautiful beach. Whether you prefer keeping busy or just laying out on the deck or the beach, this location is ideal for both.
Amazing ocean views are available here from your private deck. You can choose to spend some time on the beach, getting massages on your own deck, or enjoying the sights and sounds of historic Laguna Beach. Grocery services are available for those who want to sit back and relax. This is an idyllic vacation home. Come on out and enjoy it!
The Retreat in Laguna lives up to its name and then some. My wife and our teenage sons spent a 3-day weekend in the Villa D'Arte studio, and we had a great experience. We've been to Laguna many times over the years and always stayed in a standard hotel not near the water or downtown. The Retreat is an ideal location, right on top of a great beach for boogie boarding and within easy walking distance of all that Laguna has to offer. The complex is slick too, with a great deck overlooking the water that we spent a lot of time on and outdoor cabinets with all the beach gear you'd need. The owners have thought of everything for a peaceful, vibrant Laguna experience. And the studio was plenty big for all of us, with a nice kitchen and bathroom too, although we spent most of our time outside enjoying the sun. Perhaps the best part was we didn't drive anywhere for 2 of our 3-day visit, another bonus in So Cal. I'd highly recommend the Retreat and we're looking forward to our next return trip.
My two young daughters and I spent a wonderful five nights listening to the ocean lulling us to sleep. Villa d' Arte was clean and quiet with a beautiful (communal) ocean view deck to have a morning meditation moment. My daughters and I enjoyed the beautiful beach right there with all of the fixins that one would need for a perfect day at the beach. We were able to visit lots of family in the area, leave our car parked and walk to anything we needed. I was most surprised how quiet the retreat is because PCH is right there, but the one row of retail and cottages is a real noise buffer for this location. All we heard were the waves.
The only thing that could have made our stay better was a better mattress on the pullout sofa. The main bed was extremely comfortable, but the sofa bed, not so much. My daughter's were just fine, but it would not be fit for a teenager or adult.
We go to Laguna annually to visit family in the area and have a little mini vacation and we look forward to coming back next year and staying at this gem of a place again.
I can't say enough nice things about this place. I stayed in Villa D'Arte for six nights. Great view, very comfortable bed, nice sheets and comforters. Beautiful furnishings, great kitchen with everything you need. Bathroom is very nice with plenty of soft towels. Parking is included, and you don't need a car. They even include beach towels in your room with a tote. Everything you need for the beach is provided - comfortable chairs and umbrellas, and an outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach with hot and cold water! The property has different types of villas - different sizes and styles. I would take any of the villas, and plan on trying a different one on my next visit. To top it off, everyone who works at the place could not be nicer.
Run, do not walk to The Retreat In Laguna Beach!
Stayed for a 7 night solo vacation in the studio Villa D'Arte. It was perfect. I shouldn't have rented a car because I ended up walking everywhere! The unit was clean, comfortable, and modern. The only downside was the fridge was a very small under the counter, which made it difficult to store food and cook in. I also suggest that the unit provide laundry soap for one or two loads. Ralph's does not carry travel laundry soap so I had to buy a whole container (24 loads) to do two loads. Since I flew from out of state I couldn't take any with me. Overall, great experience - I'll be back, but in a different unit!
Me, my husband, and my 2 kids (10 and 3) stayed at the D'Are Villa. The resort was really nice and very well kept up! Easy private access to the beach and beach items the guests can use complimentary. Laguna Beach is BEAUTIFUL and we'll definitely go back and stay at the Retreat Laguna again!! We stayed 4 night; with little kids I would recommend scheduling ahead for room service at least once. ...Loved it!
