My husband and I were looking for a weekend gate away, and we found this jewel. I expressed my desire to find a clean house and Rene, the owner, left the cottage spotless for our arrival with a vase of wild flowers waiting for us. The place is beautifully designed and very well located. The view from the porch is incredible. You can relax at sundown and get delighted watching to all shades of red in the sky while looking at the Catskills mountains. From the porch also, you can see a farm across a rural and quiet road and enjoy listening to the moooo ! of the cows.
The cottage is very well equipped. You can forget your glasses and find cases of glasses in drawers so you do not miss to see anything, The kitchen is very well equipped with stainless still appliances.
We enjoyed cooking indoors and grilling outdoors as well as going to John Andrews Restaurant and other places in the surrounding communities of Great Barrington, Hillsdale, Chatham, etc.
Saturday moring we loved shopping groceries at the HIllsdales farmers market or browsing throught the stylish stores.
Overall, we enjoyed the experience so much and definitely we are coming back. Highly recommended

We loved every moment of our time spent sent at the Cottage - the house is beautiful and kept in very top shape - however, the thing we loved the most was the wonderful owner, Rene. She was very welcoming and was always available if we needed something. The sunsets were amazing and the kitchen was beyond fantastic to cook in. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet get away in the hills of Hudson Valley. We will definitely be back.
Great great great house. Spotlessly clean. Everything new and in perfect order. Beautiful and convenient location. Rene is super super friendly, helpful and respects your privacy. We would like to return.
Boyfriend and I came up for 3 nights for our 4-year anniversary. Couldn't have asked for a more peaceful stay. The kitchen was perfect, bedroom comfortable and of course the gorgeous porch! We cooked breakfast, drank coffee and wine, and explored everything Hillsdale, Great Barrington, and Hudson had to offer as all is within 20 minutes of the house. I would gladly go back and recommend to all!
Our 2nd stay at Rene's house was another great experience. The house was as comfortable and well-equipped as always, and days of bright clear weather meant the views off the porch were even more striking than the first time. Once again, the location was extremely convenient for everything we wanted to visit --east, west, north or south. This trip we really noticed how quickly we were able to reach our assorted destinations -- whether hiking the Escarpment Trail at North/South Lakes; catching dinner and shopping in Hudson; strolling the Poets Walk outside of Rhinebeck; exploring West Stockbridge and Chatham; taking in the spectacular views at Olana and along rural roads; or enjoying lively evenings in the heart of Great Barrington. Being so close to the Taconic Parkway and Route 23 makes it easy to catch many of the region's sites...... but still come back to relax in a quiet country setting. For my wife and me, there is no better spot to stay in Columbia County. We again highly recommend both the house and Rene's kind hospitality.
We stayed over the Labour Day long weekend. The house is very well appointed and quiet, has zero traffic and a lovely view over farmland. It is a short drive to lots of little villages (you need a car). If you bring in supplies, there is no need to go anywhere. The owner is very friendly and helpful and we appreciated the attention to detail in the house, for example, there is an unobtrusive wheel chair accessible ramp from the drive to the front door. It wasn't a pre-requisite for us but reflects a well thought out space and the rest of the house is the same. All up a very comfortable place to stay in a very pretty location. Great value.
In the Berkshires of Columbia County, NY, this location is a short 12 mile drive west to Hudson, NY, and the Hudson River, and 12 miles east to the Berkshires of Western MA including Great Barrington, Stockbridge and Lenox. But the best part of this location is it's privacy and bucolic setting amongst working farms, grazing alpacas, cattle and horses. Amazing views of the Catskill Mountains. The cabin is on a quiet, country road published as one of the best walking trails in Columbia County.
Antiquing, golfing, Norman Rockwell Museum, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, and Falcon Ridge Folk Festival are between 20 minutes and an hour away.
