Rustic woodland cabin near the water
About David Friedell
We are two retired music teachers that retired here many years ago so that we could live in the woods by the sea in a peaceful and beautiful place. Carolyn spends her days working in the garden and David pursues his lifelong interest in tinkering and playing the pipe organ. We came here as newlyweds and summered here for our whole married life. It was a great place to raise our two boys who spent their childhood in the woods, on the water or helping their parents build something or other. It is our pleasure to share this wonderful place with guests.

Excellent from beginning to ens
Homestead Cottage was absolutely perfect for the needs of two senior women and our dog. The Fridells were most gracious hosts, helping out with our every need. We loved our stay from beginning to end and look forward eagerly to returning next August.
Wonderful home, wonderful hosts!
We were very impressed with the home. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had every item we needed to be able cook our own meals on a island with very few restaurants. We loved walking in the woods, boating with the hosts' grandson (same age as our girls), and laying out on the rocks looking at stars over the ocean. We will definitely come again. We highly recommend this home for families with young kids. Such a great week!
Perfect Cabin in the Woods
The perfect escape but close enough to see the sights. Would highly recommend this cabin! A short walk to the water as well as a short drive to town. We could not be more pleased with our stay! Wonderful!
A beautiful cabin in the woods. Very quiet and peaceful. Loved walking through the woods, morning coffee on the deck and sitting by the water at the picnic table by the beach. Everything we needed, a most relaxing vacation. Highest recommendation.
Cottage was super cozy and everything that you need. David was extremely gracious and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.
A little piece of peace
Wilderness, forest, ocean, granite, the freshest of seafood and the cutest cabin in the woods. Why would you go anywhere else? Plus the loveliest of hosts. Thanks from Jo and Ted
Cabin is on Deer Isle, an Island connected to the mainland by bridge .A long gravel driveway leads through the woods to a community of four cottages near the water. The property is secluded in a clearing in the woods with a path down a dirt road to a little bridge and stairs that take you down to the beach. The rocks and ledges are a warm sunny place to picnic, row a boat, or swim in the cool water.
