About Ben King

I am a 61 year old husband, father of two wonderful children and Grandfather of three grand kids. In my spare time I play golf with my son and friends. I enjoy the outdoors and living in the Shenandoah Valley, which is truly "Gods Country".

I have often thought, if God owned a motorcycle, the Shenandoah Valley would be his primary destination.

Ben King purchased this cabin in 2013

What makes this cabin unique

My home is secluded without being remote. My nearest neighbor is 3/4 of a mile from the cabin. Even with this seclusion I can be in Luray to shop in less than 15 minutes. For those that can't cut the cord I offer cable TV and wireless internet.

Surrounded by beauty

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here! It comfortably held 8 of us +1 toddler. Every side has amazing views and places to just sit and relax. The basement has lots of fun for kids. There is a cabin right next door and they were very, very loud on our last night as we were trying to relax by the fire pit.

Beautiful area, nice house, but horrible furnishings

  • 3 of 5

We had a great time during our stay at this property. The location is great and very close to Shenandoah National Park. Although the house itself was very nice, the furnishings were not. All the beds creaked very loudly when getting in and out and the couches were deteriorating with pieces of the cheap vinyl falling off every time we sat on them. Given the price we paid for this house, I expected much better quality furniture. Additionally, the sheets were also in poor condition, thread bare and stained. So, if you want a pretty area, a nice house and are ok with old worn out furniture, this would be a good rental for you.

Perfect place for group stay in the Shenandoah

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a fall foliage weekend with a group of friends - perfect place for a group ... very nicely finished house, well appointed kitchen, amazing views from every window and multiple decks. 15 minutes from Thornton Gap entry into Skyline Drive. Highly recommend!

Perfectly located and exactly what we needed

  • 5 of 5

We actually stayed at both properties on this location. We had a large group coming in for the half marathon in the area and these two places could not have been more perfect. They were only 1 mile from the race finish and we could walk between the two houses visit. We ended up making one house the breakfast place and the other house the dinner place. Each adequately met our needs for accommodating our group. Ben was very responsive to anything we needed and was there finishing up yard work to make everything extra enjoyable when we arrived. Yes, the gravel driveway can be intimidating but I grew up with the same thing so it was that bad to me and the others in our group could manage just fine. We would certainly come again! Thanks, Ben!

Great place for our large family!

  • 4 of 5

We rented both of Ben's houses for my large family. My daughter got married at Khimaira Farm just a few minutes away, and we really enjoyed being all together before and after the big event. The "kids" (ages 25-32) stayed in the 6 BR and us old folks ( their parents) stayed in the 5 BR about 100 yards away. We all had a nice time coming together for cocktails, meals, etc. but also being able to have our own space. Our group went to the Luray Caverns, tubing on the river, horseback riding, and hiking... had a great time! I had booked the cabins for 3 nights, but when I decided a week or so before our arrival that I wanted the cabins an extra night (to set up for the rehearsal dinner at the local fire department), Ben was more than accommodating. As some of the reviews state, the driveway is bumpy, but that was really not a big problem. The house is big and the noise carries, but I had packed ear plugs for the light sleepers, so the early risers didn't disturb anyone (just something to keep in mind). Ben and his family were great to work with and helped make our stay happy and very memorable!!
