Within walking distance of Pemaquid Beach and 'Little Beach'. Located at the head of Heron Cove, cottage has been freshly painted inside and out, with new furniture added. The porch is glassed in, making a charming area for dining. A small deck has been added with partial views of the cove - a nice spot to enjoy the sunset at day's end. The brick/stone fireplace remains the focal point of main cottage, lending ambiance and charm to the rest of the cottage. The cathedral ceiling with skylight assures plenty of light and generates a feeling of openness to the rest of the cottage. Tenants have use of shared, common area of Heron Cove dock, float and water access, making for an ideal spot for putting in kayaks, canoes, etc.
Property is owned by mom, dad, daughter and son-in-law, all Maine natives. Each of us have an input into any upgrades or changes and it has been fun to work on this project together. Casualness and ease of living themes run thru out the cottage. A nice winding path has been cleared to water's edge and is a great location to watch for water fowl.
Sheila McLain purchased this cottage in 2010
It is a great spot for young families and being able to use a dock and float is something one does not often find in a reasonably priced home. Also, being part of the Heron Cove group of cottages, it offers families a chance to vacation together and yet have their own separate rental either next door or a few doors down.
It is close to so many things, like beaches (2 well within walking distance), restaurant, fishing off a pier, historical diggings, an original fort and a GREAT eating spot for breakfast and lunch (The Cupboard).
Small however, perfect for two couples, nice clean accommodations, near ocean, close to site seeing destinations, kitchen well equipped, QUIET, wood burning fireplace, close to botanical gardens in Booth Bay
Cottage is part of Heron Cove Association, located at the head of John's Bay. It shares a dock, wharf and fish house with other residents. As the lawn gently slopes to water's edge, it is ideal for putting in kayaks and canoes. Facing westerly, water is usually quite calm and so boating ideal to go with the beautiful sunsets.
