I knew from the moment we walked into this beautiful house this trip would be one to remember
You have an amazing house! We had a great time here in St Maarten. We rented this villa to accomandate 12 wedding guests and had plenty of space for everyone. It was a joy waking up to the beautiful views every morning.
We look forward to coming back.
We rented Seaside Retreat January 16-26! Yes, 10 days of Caribbean bliss!
There were 8 family members in our group; all adults along with a 11 year old niece. The villa provided all the necessities of home. Each couple had their own bedroom along with its own bathroom which was a plus! The views from the patio were stunning day & night! The airport landings & takeoffs were tolerable & by the end of the time there it was something that you really didn't notice to much. The villa was close to attractions & some within walking distance. Jenny, the housekeeper, did a great job cleaning 3 times while we were there. She washed bedding, towels & cleaned bathrooms. There was plenty of hot water for the group at all times. All the kitchen appliances worked well. It might be a good idea to print off an online detailed map of the island before you come because there were not any to be found on the island. They did provide one but was very vague on street details.
I would like to throw in a few things that may need attention. Not trying to be picky - just saying.
*Internet was not very reliable at all. For the most part it was difficult to get connected.
*Patio/pool were wonderful, the balcony could be a hazard to smaller children due to gap width in the railing.
*Bathroom, kitchen & beach towels were getting thin.
*Washing machine did not spin out the water. We informed Jenny & she seemed aware of the issue.
*Would be nice to have lids for the frying pans in the kitchen.
*Patio door screen looked like someone had fixed them in the past however they were in need of some attention as there were open gaps in them. Not good to keep out mosquitos and other bugs.
Attractions we visited:
*Maho beach-cool watching airplanes land & takeoff plus good food at Driftwood beach bar. Plus shopping in Maho & eating at the 3 Amigos-good Tex-Mex.
*Mullet Bay beach-stunning sunsets & relatively calm bay.
*Pinel Island-relaxing & great snorkeling on the other side of the island.
*Shopping in Phillipsburg-specifically visiting Juggie's Place "smallest bar in the world", his deal was 2 beers & a Cuban cigar for $2.99. The guys in the group this & enjoyed visiting with Juggie while the girls shopped in the nearby store.
*Little Bay beach-nice & not many people.
All in all Seaside Retreat did not disappoint. If we ever get the chance to return to Sint Maarten we would stay here again. Thanks Rick for sharing your villa! Stay well!
Big thank you to Rick!! What a fabulous vacation we had. This was our second stay in St. Maarten and loved the location of this house! The view was nothing short of amazing! We were able to watch cruise ships come and go and flights at SXM take off. The villa is walking distance to Sunset Beach Bar and Maho, Simpsons Bay beach was really nice and quiet after the hustle and bustle of our visits to Phillipsburg, Orient Bay and Mullet Beach. There were 8 of us plus an 11 month old baby. Had everything there we needed. Bedrooms were all very roomy and such a bonus that each had its own bathroom. Upstairs bedroom/ sitting room is huge! Kitchen was great, with everything you could possibly need. We discovered the blender was cracked ( unfortunately while it was blending drinks..lol) and Jenny had a new one for us the next day. The pool and patio were awesome, (even the resident Iguanas)! We spent most of our time outdoors. Very thoughtful that Rick had supplied some mosquito repellant/citronella candles..fine during the day but we had a few bites at night. So to make a long story short, we LOVED our stay! Will absolutely look into staying again if we return.
This is my second stay at this home in Beacon Hill. All of the rooms in the home are well apportioned. The kitchen has every gadget a cook could want, the bedrooms are all roomy with plenty of space and cabinetry, and updated beautifully. Love the auto shutters that were within the windows, not only to help darken a room, but to cool off the sun on days before we might turn on the air conditioning for an hour or so. The landscaping around the home is something I really enjoyed, need a little greenery to get me relaxed with a little wine at dusk, and the windex blue ocean waves really bring you into that relaxation zone, add a little music to the mix with the outdoor speakers were the icing on the cake. We love walking in that area,we tend to walk for one or two hours every morning, and it is easy to pick up a quick breakfast at the Maho Market to get your breakfast "fuel". We had one couple with us on this trip, had our first drinks at the Driftwood bar, then enjoyed watching some sporting events at Three Amigo's restaurant in Maho and had some really good appetizers there. Our favorite restaurant this trip was at Chesterfields in Phillipsburg, we all enjoyed our seafood dinners there, and shared a wonderful brownie and ice cream sundae afterwards. Spent a nice afternoon at Karakters, first enjoying some tapas, then went swimming for awhile, that was our favorite "beach" day. Can't wait to return to SXM, and all 4 of us agreed, Seaside Retreat is a place that they want to come back to.
We just returned from staying at the property. We were a group of 4 couples that stayed for 2 weeks and had a wonderful time at this property! We were there from Jan. 31st-Feb. 13th. There was plenty of room with the rooms being furnished nicely and maintained wonderfully. We loved the view and having the bay right there to watch the boat traffic was an added bonus. We saw some impressive yachts moored right off of the property. We ate in sometimes and went out sometimes. The property is easy to get to and located in an excellent area. It was not far to bars, restaurants, beaches and the airport. Rick was so patient in answering all of my questions-there were lots as we had never rented privately before-we have always stayed at all-inclusive resorts in the past. The villa is described well on the listing and the pictures show it well. Jenny is the housekeeper and was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed visiting with her. There were no surprises which when you are traveling it is nice to avoid surprises. We spent plenty of time by the pool but also traveled out to different beaches and areas. Of course shopping in Phillipsburgh is a must for any woman traveling! It was nice to see the cruise ships coming in so we had an idea of the number of people that would be in town. We would definitely recommend this property to others and have already given information to some others. Thank you Rick for renting us this fantastic property. You do an excellent job of keeping it nice and comfortable for those of us coming in. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable and easily accessible home on the ocean! My husband and I hope to come back again with our daughters when they can get away.
My family and I (11 of us including, 2 grandmothers and a 4 year old) just returned from a 1 week stay over the New Year at this beautiful villa. It was everything we expected and more. We were amazed when we walked in the doors and saw the beauty of this villa and the scenery from the backyard. It was spacious for all of us and the upstairs allowed for the extra space needed for the family. Waking up to the sunrise every morning was beautiful. The space in the backyard allowed everyone to do their own thing and to have family dinners while enjoying the weather and view. The sights of the fireworks on New Years Eve was spectacular and seeing all the beautiful yachts pass by was breathtaking.
The Villa was in the most perfect and convenient location for our family. A 10 minute walk took us to the sunset bar for breakfast or to relax on the beach and a 10 minute walk in the other direction took us to Simpsons Bay Beach that was never crowded. Jenny was so inviting when we first got there and shared a lot of useful information on where to buy food, drinks, etc. We were also pleasantly surprised to get a visit from Rick when he was in the area and he was able to share more useful information for us on what to see and where to go. Being close to the airport was nice and we were never bothered by the noise.
This was our first villa rental as my family normally does all inclusive resorts and hands down it topped every family vacation we have been on. To be able to have the space and privacy of the villa was a great feature and there was so much to do and see.
Thank you Rick for sharing your beautiful home with us and we can't wait to come back on our next trip to St. Maarten. You made our end to 2014 and beginning to 2015 the most memorable and relaxing time ever!!
Our family of 8 adults recently stayed in Rick and Marie's beautiful home. The house is actually more beautiful than the pictures show. The view is breathtaking. The location of the house makes it very convenient to walk/drive to restaurants and beaches. Mullet Bay Beach was fun with lots of people and activities. Karakter Beach was also very nice--not as busy as Mullet and chairs and umbrellas were free. Drinks and food were available to purchase at both places. Jennie was very accommodating and helpful. We used the Shop and Drop grocery service for our first night and it worked out really well. So nice to not have to immediately run out to the grocery story. Drinks were chilled and food and snacks were delivered prior to our arrival. We did rent a car and enjoyed our shopping trip to Philipsburgh. Rick was very honest and easy to work with. I would highly recommend this beautiful home. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Rick and Marie for offering an incredible vacation filled with wonderful memories that will last a life time.
