Well appointed , cute first floor apartment in 2 family home
Great little space, nicely appointed. Helen leaves so many welcoming treats , from fresh ground coffee to a perfect dollop of butter, that you really feel welcome on arrival. There is enough cookware and utensils that you can cook yourself a nice meal if you want to eat in. There is a beautiful system of running trails within a mile walk for anyone who really wants to get outside. As others have said it's not for those with any mobility issues. Definitely recommend it.
Small, comfortable, and a good price. This place is clean and has charm. Because it is a ground floor unit, with windows at the side and back that allow outsiders to look in, renters should be aware of that possibility. Street parking is readily available. The owner and her husband are very responsive, polite, and helpful. The historic downtown is six or seven blocks, so the walk is easy (although one side of Market Street lacks a sidewalk for part of the way). Belmont is within walking distance for those who walk regularly, although it is a bit farther.
Our guest’s privacy is very important to us and so all windows, except those in the kitchen at the back of the house have closable drapes and sheers. The house is surrounded by a garden and to get close to the windows would require trespassing.
Clean but small
Not so good for seniors. Difficulty getting bags up to door. No sidewalk or railing to hang on to. Nice and clean and we felt welcomed but for 75yo not recommended. Close to walking mall downtown. Street parking. Find your own. Price reasonable. I would stay here if I were 35
We lived here for two weeks and me and my wife felt right at home in this cosy little house. We're from Belgium, visiting the wedding of our daughter in Charlottesville. It's just a 10 minute walk to the Downtown Mall, which was great also. When we arrived, there were all kind of food in the fridge for making breakfast, fruits and coffee. Very welcoming. We thank the owners !
Lovely apartment close to the heart of Charlottesville!
My husband and I recently stayed in this lovely renovated apartment during the Virginia Film Festival. It was only a few blocks from the Pedestrian Mall with access to theaters, great restaurants and cafes, wonderful shops and gelato! Helen was easy to reach and responded quickly to requests for information. We'd recommend this home to friends visiting the area!
Excellent Place to Stay in Charlottesville
If you are looking for quaint, but totally updated accomodations in Charlottesville at a great price, this rental is for you. The apartment has been redone with a beautiful kitchen, bathroom and updated air conditioning and heating units in each room. The location is an easy 15 minute walk from the historic downtown mall where there are great restaurants and shops and about a 45 minute walk to UVA campus. You can take a free trolley from the transportation center in the mall to UVA if you are not up for the walk. Monticello is a short drive way and you can get to wineries and great hiking in 30-40 minutes. While there is no off-street parking, on-street parking in front is no problem. The street is busy during the day as it is mixed commercial/residential, but quiet at night. Being an older home, the bedroom with a queen bed is a bit tight and you can hear, on occasion, noise from the second floor occupants. The owner takes pains to make sure you have all the information you need and treats to welcome you and keep you going. When we return to Charlottesville, this is where we will stay.
The property is located two blocks from Charlottesvilles historic 7-block pedestrian mall. The pedestrian mall is home to The Paramount Theatre, Live Arts, Galleries, restaurants, book stores, street vendors, craftsman, and a Saturday farmers market, the Intelos Ampitheater, movie theaters, restaurants and bars to name just a few of the many reasons to stay within walking distance of downtown when visiting Charlottresville. The University of Virginia grounds are approximately 2 miles and can be reached on the free trolley service which stops a few yards from the house. Nearby Belmont is home to some of the cities most popular and delicious restaurants: MAS, The Local & Tavola. For casual dining you have The Belmont BBQ, Beer Run and La Taza Coffee House. Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, Jefferson winery and a 2 mile hiking trail are an easy 10 minute drive. Many of Virginia's world renowned wineries are all an easy day trip: Keswick Vineyards, King Family, Barboursville, Pippin Winery, Jefferson Vineyard, Trump Winery to name just a few. Charlottesville is home to three past President's Virginia homes: Monticello (Jefferson's), Montpelier (Madison's) & Ashlawn-Highland (Monroe's). Furnished in charming vintage style it is a wonderful alternative to any local hotel. It has a comfortable living room and dining area, washer and dryer. Wide screen t.v.and free wireless internet. The kitchen is equipped with stainless appliances and granite counter tops; stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, fridge, dishwasher, utensils/glassware, coffee, tea, cream, juice, whole fruit, bottled water and snacks are all included in the nightly rate. This property is located in an ideal neighborhood for travelers who wish to have the comfort and convenience to the downtown area, UVA grounds, sporting events and/or medical center and a lot more space and privacy then a hotel. No smoking, No pets, No parties/large gatherings are permitted on the property. Thank you.
