|Minimum Stay||2 - 5 nights|
'Herron House' is located on a private island in the South Puget Sound area. Visiting the island includes a ten minute ride on the 'Charlie Wells' from the ferry dock at Lakebay, as the island is only accessable by private ferry. Although the peace and tranquility of the island may make you feel as if you are a million miles away from the rest of the world, in fact you are only a short distance. You can take day trips to Seattle as it is just over an hour away. The island is about a thirty minute drive from the town of Gig Harbor, Tacoma, and Port Orchard. It is a very small island and there is no store, so pack what you will need to relax and enjoy.
Experience the tranquility of island life. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views while you watch bald eagles soaring over head. 'HerronHouse sits atop a hundred foot bluff that gives you wonderful views that go on for miles. This newly constructed two thousand square foot home is the perfect island retreat.
We fell in love with the island during our first visit. We purchased this wonderful property on our second. The island is an enticing place and our south beach views are spectacular. There are many beautiful islands to visit in the area, but Herron Island is a unique gem.
The view is panoramic and seems to go on forever. We love sitting on our decks and watching eagles soaring by above, or hoping to get a glimpse of an orca below as they swim by.
This was our second trip to Herron House and both times have been peaceful and relaxing. The views are beautiful and the home is very comfortable. We plan to come again soon!
The Herron House was perfect for three couples to spend New Years Eve weekend. We enjoyed walking around the island, dining together & playing music (there's a guitar there as well as a stereo). The view out the dining & living room windows is amazing. We could watch eagles and other wildlife during the day and fireworks launched from various South Sound shorelines around midnight. It was clean, well equipped for cooking, all the beds were comfortable, and we felt at home. The hosts were responsive and accommodating. Please note that the ferry passes you'll receive are not tickets - you'll still need to pay $16 per car/driver and $3 per passenger to get on the island (leaving is free). Kayaking is an option from the north end of the island, but not directly from the Herron House.
If you are looking for a quiet and serene spot to relax (at least when we were there in late September) do not hesitate to book this. Highly recommend kayaking around the Island, it is quite easy. Owners are wonderful and so very easy to work with !
The Davies house was more than expected. The view, the surroundings, the peace and quiet. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We had an amazing stay at Jim and Anne's house on a Herron Island. The house is very large and well appointed. The furnishings are top notch and there wasn't a detail missing. The house is perfection and you will not be disappointed.
Bikes and kayaks will have you cruising the island and exploring all there is to offer on this majestic island!
Anything you need has been thought of, so bring your sense of adventure and enjoy a wonderful island adventure with two gracious and caring hosts!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! It was perfectly stocked for lots of cooking and is so well-kept and pretty!
We loved the views, the deer and the crabs! Thank you also for the use of your kayaks!!
We hope to return soon!
