Our one story condo is one of ten located directly on the beach front in “Nueva Espana” a private walled community of 34 privately owned condos. Step right out to your patio on the sand with a panoramic view of Ensenada Bay and the Todos Santos Islands. Relax in this peaceful setting of fresh sea air always keeping an eye out for Dolphins and Whales. The Condo is decoratively furnished in a spacious open floor plan allowing great views of the ocean, even while preparing food in the fully equipped kitchen or relaxing by a wood fire in the living room fireplace. Flood lights on the ocean front make the waves beautiful at night while sitting around your beach fire.
My wife and I recently stay at Nueva España and had an amazing time. We stayed in one of the ocean front condos and the view did not disappoint. We arrived on a Wednesday and stayed till Saturday. During our stay we had the entire beach to ourselves besides a few local families. We enjoyed relaxing around a fire pit while sipping on cocktails, swimming, sunbathing and those long walks on the beach. It was exactly what we needed for a getaway.
Although we had a fantastic time, please understand that it is not a resort place nor does it have resort amenities...besides the ocean and beach, the place does have a basketball/tennis/racket court. There is a security guard who makes their rounds every couple of hours. Please note, water out of the faucets is very brackish, this includes the shower. We didn't have a problem with this, but some may and drinking water was provided. The condo we stayed in did have eating and cooking utensils, but they do need to be replaced as you can tell being near the ocean has made them unusable. We were able to use one of the pans and hard plastic cooking utensils we found in the drawer, but again these things were not big issues to us. There is no a/c, but there were ceiling fans installed. These were just minor details compared to our overall experience.
Besides the above issues, this place is perfect to enjoy getting away from it all. It is located a few minutes away from tourist hot spots, but far enough away to be away from the crowds. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby without all the tourist "prices". If you enjoy being among locals and experiencing their day to day life then this place will be perfect for you. We plan on making this place our home away from home.
It was a great experience at Nueva Espana. Awesome environment and safety first. Guards at all hours which is great when bringing the kids around.
I live in New York and have been traveling to Baja for many years, I discovered this private little beach community 4 years ago and felt in love! I knew I had founded something special, and have been coming back ever since. This is not a 5 star resort with luxury accommodations, quite the opposite actually, Nueva Espana it's an old beach front gated community, safely located 15 minutes away from the core of the city, its the perfect setting for letting your hair down and relaxing, we wake up everyday to watch the dolphins swimming by and bounce between surfing, margaritas, grilling and taking advantage of everything Ensenada's gastronomy and nightlife has to offer.
Ensenada has become one of the most important cities in the Mexico proper, due to its progressive food culture, and mediterranean like weather It's now the #1 producer of wines in the country, along with a new generation of artisanal beers producers and artisanal bakeries.
Because of the abundance of exotic sea food and produce, the food scene here has exploded and it's catching the attention of food enthusiast or "foodies" from around the world, from its iconic Hotel-Restaurant Brunches to innovative hipster restaurants like "Manzanilla", "Muelle 3" and "Barra Azul" focusing on local and organic ingredients.
There's also an incredible amount of street food carts offering inventive twists on traditional ceviches "La Guerrerense" and "Marco Antonio" come to mind just to name a few, and not to forget the exciting food festivals "El Festival del Taco" and "Ensenada's Beer Fest" that have now become a huge component of Ensenada's culture.
I Love Ensenada!!!! and will love to live here, but for now I will continue to come back every year.
I hope the owners of the "Nueva Espana" beach rentals, keep up and invest some time improving the conditions of the beach properties to increase the tourist traffic coming here, with all the attention surrounding Ensenada right now, and with the competitive hospitality industry growing so rapidly, it would be in their best interest.
Big thanks to Nancy who has been very pleasant and accommodating to us all, and I cant wait to go back.
I've been coming to Villa Espana for nearly 20 years. Obviously we rented almost every bouse on the property but definately have my own favorite, which number I wont disclose for purely selfish reasons, but you understamd, no? Easily 4 times a year we pack up the cars with food, kids, dogs and head down the border. It's a bit of a ride since we are in LA but every time is an adventure. We bring out friends here and our families. MY particular house is absolutely amazing especially new things that happen very nearly. Brand spanking fridge blew me away. WiFi password right there on the door. How cool is that? The rooms and bathrooms imaculately cleaned. All you need to bring is your own towels. Last Friday night we got there at 10pm, an hour later then planned and I literally started crying it was soo good to be back there. I consider it my home now. The prices are extremely low for staying in the house that is actually on the beach! Im feeling blessed everytime Im there. Little tips on what to bring: Towels/beach/bath. I always bring my own frying pan and a pot. Not all houses have BBQ on their patios, so plan on bringing one too. The local store Calimax is just up the street from the house. One can get anything from there but we are trying to stay loyal to the locals so we buy from them. The casas themselves are very authentic. My favorite, still not mentioning the number, has the most carefully hand picked decor that reflects the respect for the culture. Beds are comfy, the master bedroom has the most magnificent view!!!! Toilets are clean and stuffed with toilet paper. Overall, I love love love Villa Espana! Once had a problem with one rental, i addressed it and Boom! Now its all fixed and very pretty! Going back in mid May. Nancy! I need that house and about 3 more, the Russians are coming!!!!!!
good place for family retreat ,the only issue we had water to shower was very salty and place is nice but need maintenance
The house/location was perfect and we had an amazing time down there. Weather was great, and Joe/the neighbors were all very nice. We spent the weekend fishing, surfing, BBQing, laying in the sun, and evenings relaxing around the fire pit. Would definitely stay here again... Drive was easy, and you can't get any better than beach front!
6 Miles South of Ensenada, About 15 min to downtown.
