Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-7)

We purchased the property back in 1999 with my father and brother. In 2001 we had finished our homes. Mine and my brothers homes are approximate approximately 4000 Sq Ft. with my fathers at around 2000 Sq Ft. located right on one of the Trout Ponds. (He fishes from his deck).

The Trout Creek Ranch is an incredible property with a stream (Trout Creek) running through the middle of the Valley thru two Trout Ponds. We have so enjoyed the property with nearby access to over 150 miles of trails through the National Forest. We are only 5 minutes from the town of Woodland Park and 25 minutes from Colorado Springs.

Keywords: The Ranch is located on 50 acres with Trout Creek running through the property and feeding two trout ponds. The ranch has beautiful views of Pikes Peak. There are many different species of wildlife living on and near the ranch, such as deer, elk, bear, fox, geese and ducks.

This Ranch has often been referred to as a little piece of heaven, a paradise and a romantic retreat. It is located 20 miles from Colorado Springs,18 miles from Cripple Creek , 83 miles from the the beautiful ski resort of Breckenridge and Denver is only an hour and a half away. There are wonderful hiking trails, fishing and over 150 miles of national forest trails through the nearby Pike National Forest (great atv and hiking trails).

Second Stay

  • 5 of 5

My grandson and I recently stayed at this property. My wife and I had stayed there 3 years ago. It is a great property and we really enjoyed the country setting and fish ponds. It is such a delight to stand on the deck and watch the trout rise in front of you. Wildlife was also abundant. While standing on the deck one evening, a deer walked directly beneath me not more than 6 feet away! We also saw marmots playing in the yard. There is a nice view of Pike's Peak as well. If you really want to get a taste for what it would be like to live in the Colorado mountains, this is definitely the place. Thanks again to Wendell Howie for the hospitality!

Beautiful home/property and the Howie's were wonderful hosts.

  • 5 of 5

The Howie's were delightful and accommodating hosts, and the property was lovely.

We had 2 small children (ages 2 and 6) and 2 golden retrievers with us. We moved a couple accessible decorations during our stay to keep them out of the kids' hands, and we left the dogs in the garage when we went out without them, which worked out fine. They do have light-colored carpet in the home, which necessitated taking shoes off and cleaning the dogs' feet each time we entered the home, which was a minor, but understandable inconvenience. It's hard to find nice homes that work well with kids and pets, but this place was great.

There was plenty of wildlife on the property. We saw 2 moose, a fox, lots of deer and water fowl, but missed the bear and cubs that were patrolling the area. Despite heavy rains and unusually muddy water, we caught a couple of trout fishing off the deck of the home.

We were there 4 nights, but still just scratched the surface of the many fun activities in the area. We definitely plan to return to the area, and would gladly stay in the Howie's home again if it were available.

Beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

If you want a true Colorado experiance, choose this ranch! We wanted to stay in the Colorado Springs area- but did not want the stuffy hotel experiance. This house was close to Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, ect, but tucked away from the tourist area. Clean house, had everything we needed. At night we could sit on the deck and watch wildlife. Full kitchen was great so we could eat breakfast then be on our way to see all the great things the area had to offer. We didn't get a chance to fish off the deck, but would have loved to if we had stayed a little longer. Owners are very nice and we're able to give us ideas of things to see on our short visit. We stayed, 2 adults, 2 teens and a 6yr old, plenty of room! Highly recommended!

Our extended family of 8 had a wonderful time at this home. Plenty of room, kitchen well supplied, and we were very satisfied in bringing our foods in and cooking while there. This property was also very easy to access on great roads. Only 5 minutes from Woodland Park. Thank you!
