Comfortable lake house, convenient to Danbury

  • 5 of 5

In town for a family wedding, this house provided the perfect setting of convenience to Danbury and the feeling of a vacation house. It provided us the opportunity to host a big family dinner, with plenty of space. Did some walks around the neighborhood and to a community playground up the street. The house is exactly as the pictures depict- I would have loved a little updating to the downstairs furniture and some comfortable outdoor furniture. Fabulous yard! Would love to come back in the summer. The owner was very friendly & easy to work with- definately recommend.

Clean and bright in a great neighborhood.

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect HomeAway rental. The home is clean, well-stocked and everything is in good working order. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. We took long walks every day among the beautiful homes with gorgeous lakeside views.

The best part was the owners, Norman and Maria. They were more than accommodating to our last minute arrangements. There were no stress points in any part of this rental. We are looking forward to returning for another visit. We highly recommend this to anyone looking for a memorable experience on beautiful Candlewood Lake.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

This place was absolutely wonderful. Our family had a wonderful time and the home exceeded our expectations. Norman (the owner) met us upon arrival and was so gracious and wonderful. The whole experience we had with him and the home made for a very relaxing and peaceful vacation. We can not wait to go back and would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a place in this area, to don the same. You will not be disappointed :)

Absolutely Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a "ladies weekend" this past weekend at Norman's house -- it could not have been more perfect. Norman met us there when we arrived to show us everything we needed to know, and he even greeted us with fresh cut flowers and wine set out on the table for us. Absolutely beautiful lawn, great waterfront property where we were able to easily pull up our rental boat…we are all looking forward to going back sometime! Thanks for everything, Norman!

The Perfect Lake House!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a charming lake house vacation look no further. Our family enjoyed Norman and Maria's love-filled home last summer for the months of July and August. We had 2 kids (ages 3.5 and 1.5) and a lake-crazy dog who were so, so sad to leave Candlewood Lake at the end of the summer. So much so, we just bought our own house on Candlewood Lake. Norman and Maria are very sweet and would respond very quickly should you need anything. They really just enjoy watching others enjoy their home and the lake. We continue to keep in touch!

We had a never-ending family reunion. Extended family visited every week - we were never alone! The home can easily accommodate a large group. It is very conveniently located. The community beach is BEAUTIFUL and has events all summer. So fun to go to BBQ's and listen to live music on a beautiful Saturday night. Stew Leonard's grocery store is very close and has an outdoor petting zoo in the parking lot. If you have kids, this is like a free amusement park AND you get your shopping done. We lived here...

The house was very clean on our arrival and has pretty much everything you could need. It is a lake house, so if you are a serious cook or plan to cook for large groups you may want to bring a couple of good knives and maybe one good skillet.

The house has a nice lay out and feels very comfortable. Perhaps the best part of this property is the beautiful back yard. We BBQ'd constantly while our kids swam in the swimming pool (we brought our own) and every evening we ran the yard looking for fire flies after making smores. The lake front is perfect for small children as there are steps to enter the lake (which is possible when the water is a bit lower, especially toward the end of summer. The house is on a cove so it is not noisy - no wake zone, no waves to topple kids swimming.

If you have children and are considering this property I can tell you it is ideal. We had so many small children visit. We just brought a gate to use at the top of the stairs but that was all we needed.

Favorite restaurants during our stay included Down the Hatch - for lakeside casual dining. If you have a boat you can just drive right up! If you have kids there are 500 ducks and fish awaiting your arrival to feed on your way in and out. Free entertainment abound. Cook House in New Milford is a fantastic BBQ house that can accommodate large groups easily. Definitely a favorite.

You'll love this house!
