The property was very private very well kept. The river was gorgeous we enjoyed fishing off the dock. We would definitely love to return another time hopefully very soon.
The cabin is an excellent place for those looking to get off the beaten path and away from the everyday traffic of life. The lady who greeted us was very courteous and gave us a detailed tour of the cabin. When you walk in you immediately relax to the cozy environment and the décor will take you back to a feeling of an old North Woods home. The kitchen is the best part especially if you enjoy cooking a nice meal. All the cooking utensils are new and there are cook books for those who are looking for something different than originally planned. When dinner is through, enjoy a relaxing night by the fire pit outside or the old fashioned stove in the family room area. For those with kids, there is always the excitement right out the backdoor of seeing deer, bear, and other wildlife that inhabit the areas around the cabin. I highly recommend this location for anyone who is looking to get away from it all and enjoy a true North Woods experience!!!
Property was beautiful, house was pristine and owner/caretaker were both very responsive and kind. Kayaks were made available to us to use on the river that bordered the property. Owner not only booked us at the last minute, but checked to be certain we'd received directions, arrived safely and were pleased with our stay upon our departure. We would highly recommend the property.
We booked this log cabin home for 3-days as part of a trip to Northern Wisconsin for a family reunion near Minoqua. The booking portion of the reservation was easy, the owners were fast communicators and answered all of our questions. The photos of the house do a nice job of showing off the property, but the house was even better than expected because there were not as many pictures of the house in the summertime--it is beautiful. We were given a thorough orientation and found the house to be very clean and very well-stocked...obviously the owners enjoy gourmet cooking and the kitchen is complete with tools and gadgets. The Keurig coffee machine was a nice plus.
There is a short walk to the river where we enjoyed kayaking and sitting on the dock. Evenings were spent around the fire pit stocked with plenty of firewood, and there is plenty of room for throwing around a frisbee or a ball in the cleared the yard. Important note: you will want plenty of bug spray at any property in Northern Wisconsin this time of year. Fortunately the hosts had several cans of spray in addition to what we packed. We made all of our meals, many with the charcoal grill. The WIFI, satellite TV, and DVD player were all nice touches.
We had a group of five people. The two main bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house which works out well, and we were traveling with a teenager who stayed in the loft. I was at first concerned whether there would be enough room but it worked out perfectly--even for a 6’ tall high school senior!
I would definitely recommend this home to others and we will be back again next summer for the next family trip to Northern Wisconsin.
We spent a week here in July with our five children, ages 2 to 12. This is a high-end, scrupulously maintained home deep in the woods on a stunningly beautiful river. We did not see any other people all week. We caught quality fish (2-pound smallmouth, 6-pound channel cat fish, and a 44-inch musky), kayaked in the river, “rode” the small rapids, swam, and explored the woods. We saw abundant wildlife (bunnies, a raccoon family, porcupine, chipmunks, fox, deer, tree frog, wild turkeys, etc.). With the owners’ permission, we shot .22 rifles (at targets) on the grounds. The cabin is very well stocked: kitchen, games, cable, Wi-Fi, vintage fishing magazines, etc.
The owners were responsive, professional, and not intrusive. With our large family and all of the nice things in the cabin, we were worried we might leave something amiss, but we were careful and they returned our full deposit promptly.
Be prepared for Northwoods bugs in the summer! Also, if you have a large party, be aware that while the bathrooms are very nice, there is really only one useful shower as the master bath has a beautiful large tub instead.
We took a risk and drove 1300 miles here based on the strength of the other reviews and a few conversations with the owner. We were not disappointed. I doubt there is a nicer place available to stay in this area of Price County or on the South Flambeau River.
Just spent a few days here from new years eve. This place got everything we need for staying. It was deep snow outside, but it's totally warm and cozy inside.
We went there with my family and a friend's family, and everyone found something to do. I myself is a big fan of cooking. this house has the best kitchen I can imagine. I cooked almost all the time, while kids were doing snow boarding outside. There are some nice kids friendly slopes around the house for snow boarding.
We also went a few quick hunting trip into the woods. didn't shoot anything, but found plenty rabbit lairs in there for the kids to learn tracking 101.
At the end of the day, there is a basement, which is a great gaming room, with tons of games in there. The only complaint is time went too fast. Will definitely come back here again.
