We are very fortunate to be the conservators of a waterfront home perched high on the cliffs of the Bay which our parents acquired in 1949. Our parents loved this magical place. We have extended their legacy by constantly maintaining and upgrading the comfortable log cabin. While the log cabin is original and authentic, it is warmed by oil heat, cooled by central air, and filled with modern conveniences. Since 2009 we opened our doors to guests, who have enjoyed vacations and shared their stories of relaxing experiences at the cabin, on the beach, in the forested community. We look forward to providing a happy home for your family's next vacation.
Stone's Throw is a unique house situated on a high cliff over the Bay where one can enjoy one of the best views on the Bay and also be surrounded by the glory of nature.

Thank you for sharing your home with us. Our husbands took us away for a long (Valentine’s) weekend. The weather was cold the first day but cleared up for the next two. We spent a lot of our time sitting on the porch looking out at the bay. What a breathtaking view!
We also had fun searching the beaches for shark’s teeth.
I was an awesome time with family and we plan to come back when the weather is warmer.
Everything was great as usual. Hoping to return soon. Thanks again!
Loved the cabin and the area. We are already planning a trip back in the near future. Very suitable for what we wanted. Not a far walk to the beaches and beautiful views.
We did have about the worst weather one could imagine. The rain was heavy and at times, we were unable to see the fence along the cliff edge. And the wind blew both night and day for several days. The leaves on the tall tulip poplar trees rustled, amplifying the effects of the wind. It was amazing and interesting, even if not what we would have chosen. Cozy and comfortable are the words that best describe this log home. We were dry and warm and happy with binoculars and ships and birds to watch. Walking is easy and the neighbors were welcoming. Eagles, flying past at eye level, made for priceless memories…coffee and eagle watching each morning from antique Adirondack chairs. That’s one for the memory book. Definitely bring your binoculars!
I highly recommend the location to anyone looking to have a quiet, relaxing weekend getaway on the Chesapeake.
The property met all the descriptions in the listing and exceeded our expectations - we spent hours just relaxing, reading, and chatting in the cabin itself - incredibly hospitable. The overlook in the front yard is incredible - definitely wakeup early for the sunrise over the water.
In regards to outdoor attractions nearby, there are several hiking paths around the cabin and the beach was extremely easy to access.
To top it off, the owners were incredibly helpful in providing instructions/guidance ahead of the visit and check-in/check-out was extremely easy.
When driving in, I recommend picking up any groceries or amenities that you may need from Prince Frederick, as the stores in Port Republic and St. Leonard's were not fully stocked with items like sunscreen or a diverse array of food items.
We had an amazing time at the house. It is beautifully decorated, peaceful, comfortable, and with breathtaking views. We stayed with our little girl (9 months) so for parents with infants, you have to keep in mind the house is not childproof. That being said, with a pack and play and her favorite toys, she did wonderfully. The area is interesting as well- a few nice seafood places, and a winery (the Running Hare) made for good day trips.
All in all, we highly recommend this cabin!
Beautiful place, much nicer than the pictures are able to convey. Well-appointed kitchen, everything in the house in good working order, quiet and serene setting high up on the Cliffs, and the hosts go beyond the call of duty to make the stay enjoyable and convenient.
