THE TRABUCCO HOUSE:
Amazingly preserved and well maintained, this home was built in 1932 in the Spanish Colonial style (Santa Barbara style). This beautiful, secluded home features 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
With unique and ample features to which no other Yosemite area home can compare, this property features a Mexican tile lined swimming pool, basketball and volleyball court, private balcony, courtyards, outdoor kitchen and living areas, two ponds, Spanish style water fountain, spectacular lush gardens, outdoor fireplace, outdoor fire pit, and spacious patios. All of this tucked in the heart of Mariposa…within walking distance to shops and activities.
LIVING, DINING AND KITCHEN AREAS:
Much of the home features original beautiful mahogany floors; mahogany beamed ceilings grace the living room with original hand painted flowers. The living room showcases a wood-burning fireplace with the original 1932 copper screen. The light fixtures in the entry and leading up the staircase also depict hand forged art scenes from the past.
The dining room seats 8 comfortably and closes off completely for privacy with the original Mahogany French doors.
With kitchen renovation in 2009, the authenticity of the 1932 era was maintained while providing a very modern, custom kitchen. The kitchen features granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, warming drawer, farm sink, prep sink, pot filler, gas Wolf stove top, and Sub-Zero refrigerator.
BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS:
Two spacious bedrooms are located down stairs and share a bathroom while two identical bedrooms are upstairs and also share a bathroom. The two upstairs bedrooms have doors opening onto a patio that overlooks the pool area and is equipped with rocking chairs to enjoy your morning coffee. The bedrooms are each beautifully and uniquely decorated.
The bathrooms have the original ceramic tile that was popular in 1932; one with yellow and black and the other with art deco styled pink, green and black. Very fun! Both are full baths with the upstairs having a large separate soaking tub.
Surrounded by a Giant Sequoia, Palm, Deadora, Cedar, Pine, Olive, Plum, and Almond trees makes for a very private setting. The magnificent vegetation attracts numerous birds. During the “dog days of summer” you can escape the heat by cooling of in the private pool, sitting under the covered patio, or enjoying the natural shade provided by the canopy.

This magnificent home is conveniently located and is in walking distance to shops, restaurants, Music on the Green, theatre and entertainment. A wonderful rock staircase takes you down and drops you just a few steps from all the action!
Mariposa is home to many restaurants will fantastic food. A few of favorites: Charles Street, Castillo’s Mexican, Savory’s, Sugar Pine Café, 1850, and High Country Health Food.
We have a full grocery store, Pioneer Market, that has just recently been remodeled and now provides SUSHI!
You will love the several shops that promote local artists, antiques, and other wares.
We hope you enjoy your stay and will gladly work with you to plan the perfect vacation to Yosemite.

The Kari Family has lived and worked in Yosemite National Park for over 20 years. Dave is the supervisor in charge of Yosemite's Trails Program and Kirstie is the owner of a local grocery store. Their children, Jack and Leo, have been raised hiking, camping, and skiing in Yosemite. Summers find the family swimming and fishing on the Merced River and every free day of winter finds them at Yosemite's Badger Pass.
Kirstie Kari purchased this villa in 2012
House is perfect for mixed groups. Staying at the house with the sports court, pool, gardens and luxurious furnishing is a vacation on its own. Only 30 miles from the 140 gate to Yosemite - it is close enough to visit everyday. At the same time, its in town location, just steps from the restaurants and shops in the gold country of Mariposa, it is an easy place for families.
We were fortunate to be guests of your wonderful house. It is apparent how much work and care you put into every detail.
It was a memorable experience for us all.
We hope to return next year!
This is my second stay at Trabucco House, and I can't wait to return! Whether reading by the pool, sipping wine on the upper terrace (with outdoor fireplace), or dining on the back patio, there are so many lovely places to sit and relax. Even though it is in the heart of Mariposa, the vistas in every direction are of green hills and trees — not a house in site! We were six, but the place can easily sleep ten. It is only 40 minutes from Yosemite, but we never wanted to leave!
We brought our 82 year old neighbor up to Yosemite and stayed in the Trabucco House for 5 days. The house is absolutely beautiful. Sitting on the terrace next to the pool in the evenings reminded me of the glamorous Hollywood days of a beautifully secluded manicured gardens and pool. The kitchen is a cooks dream - many fabulous meals were made!
Our stay was magnificent and it will be remembered for many years to come. Looking forward to booking another stay next year!
We stayed at the Trabucco House for 3 nights in the second week of August and had an amazing stay. We had 5 adults and 4 kids in our group. The house itself is in a quiet neighborhood just a block away from the shops and restaurants in Mariposa and is beautifully restored, very spacious with very nice gardens. The kids had a blast playing in the swimming pool, hot tub and playing basketball and didn't want to come back home! We did a few day trips to the Mariposa Grove and to the Yosemite Valley - both places were a easy 45 minute drive away. Kristie was really great to work with and super responsive to any questions we had. We will definitely be back!
3 Families stayed at this house for the memorial day weekend. Excellent house and everything was perfect. Owner was very helpful in answering all the queries and made sure everything was taken care. Kids enjoyed the swimming pool and the basketball courts. Definitely would visit this place again. Very close to Shopping places and restaurants as well. Yosemite valley is 40 mins away.
Only con I would say is the volleyball net gear was a bit rusty and unable to increase the height.
Myself and eight other friends chose the Trabucco House as our destination for our Labor Day weekend this year. It was far nicer than even the photos show. We were extremely pleased with the decor, the view, and the close proximity to downtown Mariposa. We ate all our meals outside in the courtyard and spent our days by the pool. I have to say, if you're looking for a great location to relax and spend some quality time with friends or family, this is the house.
The only note I'd make is that you can really only sleep 9 comfortably in beds. The room with 4 twins is actually two trundle beds. You have to slide out the two bottom beds but, if you do, there is literally no room to walk. Since we had only 9 people, we only slid one bed out and that gave us about a foot of space on either side to walk. Plenty of room in the living room for couch and floor sleeping, plus the rollaway beds.
We loved our experience so much, we've decided to make this an annual visit. We can't wait to come back next year!
Yosemite National Park entrance is 30 miles from house on Hwy 140.
