Find all the amenities of home in this quiet beach side retreat. The single story house has wood floors, central air and an outdoor shower. Modern kitchen with microwave and a gas grill on the deck. This house is up to date. The beach here is quet as there are no public parking lots nearby. The fenced in yard has a large outdoor deck with a gas grill and table, chairs and umbrella and even a swingset. Pets are welcome! Check in time 3 pm and check out is at 10 am

Have mixed reviews about this property. I have been renting on Plum Island for 10 years so not a newcomer. We arrived at house at 4 and still could not get in. Peter and his dog were still there. The good points are the open floor plan,size of rooms, central ac and well equipped (no dishwasher and NO WIFIi). Also close to beach with easy boardwalk. Unfortunately some of the not so good points are the house is crooked. None of the bedroom doors close correctly. The back deck is large but in need of updates(lots of splinters). There is a fenced yard but just thrown together so not good for small dogs or children. No privacy in back so we didn't use the outdoor shower too much. The front porch also updating. The furniture inside is adequate except for a nasty antique chair.
All that said the house is priced way too high for this area and the shape it is in.
Peter and Joseph were caring and considerate hosts, adjusting their schedules and the terms of our stay when we had an emergency situation with our beloved dogs.
Plum Island is a wonderful place for people who love the ocean, antiques, theater, nature, dogs, and New England.
My family and I were headed to Newburyport for a wedding and decided to make a full week vacation out of the trip. We have two young children (ages 1 and 4) and wanted something close to the beach for convenience.
Overall, the description is very accurate and possibly understates the convenience to the beach. It is 1/2 block from the beach entry which made things very easy. Even if you didn't want that particular stretch of beach, there are many options that are easily walkable (bay side is 5-7 minutes, beach with calmer waters about 8 minutes walk north).
The house itself is fine, but what really made the difference in our stay was the great prep work done by Peter who manages the rental. The place was very clean, all the instructions were spelled out, linens were fresh, etc. Peter was extremely courteous and offered multiple times to assist if we needed help or recommendations. The house also had the little conveniences of home that made it comfortable (everything from laundry detergent to backup sunscreen, tape, scissors, etc.). With small children, those things came in handy.
The only reason I would not rate this place 5 stars for our stay is that is not ideal for people with very young children. The house is a little compact (bedrooms close together, living room close to bedrooms) for adults to do anything after kids have gone to sleep. This property is ideal for people with teenagers or singles who don't have to worry about sleeping kids.
We were pleased with our rental and would consider coming back. Peter will make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay.
