About Frédéric Dansert

Former 'G.O.' at Club Med, who loves nature, welcoming people and tourism.

I am delighted to open my doors to you in my little corner of paradise.

Welcome the Cube !

Frédéric Dansert purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Frédéric Dansert chose Dijon area

Pont de la Roche Gîte is located in the heart of the Burgundy region, on a 6,000 sq.m property beside the Ignon, a 1st class river next to la Roche mill, a family property where I spent part of my childhood. It is a romantic place in a truly charming environment. Today, it is a real pleasure for me to be able to share this magical place with you! Perfect for nature lovers, relaxation, fishing, bird watching and wildlife sightings. In addition, the region is full of historical monuments (MuséoParc Alesia, Fontenay abbey, Val des Choues abbey, Saint-Seine abbey, the Château de Bussy-Rabutin, washhouses, medieval villages, source of the Seine, source of the Ignon, source of la Coquille, the vase of VIX, the Hospices of Beaune, and do not forget the Grands Crus vineyards of Burgundy).

Enjoy nature, cuisine and the Grands Crus vineyards and discover what the Burgundy region has to offer.

What makes this cottage unique

Advantages: Fly-fishing or casting in an authentic fishing zone, the Ignon, 1st class river. Relax, re-energise, do nothing, discover and watch animals. From your bed, you can wake up at dawn and observe nature: wild ducks, grey herons or white egrets, and if you know how to stay still, from springtime on, you might be able to spot a black stork with a red beak. At dusk, just before dinner, you can take a walk and watch deer, foxes and squirrels. In autumn, I will organize a nocturnal tour for you to hear the call of the deer.

You can also relax at the source on a beach chair, with a book in your hand, while watching the dance of the brown trout.

In the low and mid-seasons, I suggest that you stay at least 3 nights so you can fully enjoy this charming spot.

For unforgettable memories...

The Cube - A Wonderful place to stay with a chance of great fly fishing on "your" own private river

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cube in September 2016. It is an incredible place to stay.

Everyone will mention how peaceful it is, how stylishly designed, how well equipped it is, how close you get to nature that live around it and how relaxing the Cube is.

It is all that and much more. From the Cube you can explore the wonderful Burgundian landscapes, medieval hill top villages and towns, the city of Dijon, and the wine region of Burgundy. You can eat in wonderful restaurants, purchase some of the best wine in the world or you can just sit, relax and watch the world go by.

The river is the jewel in the crown of the Cube. For those that like to sit on the deck and watch the world go by there is a chance that you will miss wonderful things. Take a short walk up the river and watch the fish and crayfish as they go about there daily lives. Wander down and watch the chub and trout as they feed and a little further down and watch the otters. Stand still and quiet and wait for the kingfisher to come streaming by. Around the mill you will see the dippers going about their daily lives.

Take a fly fishing rod, there is marvelous “catch and release” fishing here, lots of species to target, none of which are easy to catch, but it is great fun trying. I loved wandering the banks of my own "private" section of this wonderful river. A wander with the fly rod, then back for supper on the deck (with a bottle of local red wine) is one of my memories of the Cube

Frederic is a wonderful host. His Cube is superb so I would suggest that you book early so that you are not disappointed – we waited had to try twice to get our booking.

A little piece of paradise

  • 4 of 5

The Cube is a delightful place to spend a few peaceful days: extremely comfortable, private, quiet, and has all basic amenities that one would need. The view is gorgeous and the neighboring villages are picturesque with friendly people and the countryside is idyllic. Frederic is very hospitable host and I'm sorry we could not spend more time with him. We look forward to returning for a longer stay.

Unforgettable experience at The Cube!

An unforgettable experience at The Cube!

The accommodation was one of a kind with the breathtaking view. The river in front of the house was beyond lovely, we loved waking up to this memorable view and the sound of the water. The house was comfortable with fully equipped kitchen and everything, a good location to explore around Burgundy and its legendary wineries.

More than the great place that we stayed in, the host, Mr. Frederic, was one of the nicest hosts one can meet along their travel journey. He was so nice and very attentive to take care of any problems or questions that we had.

We had an awesome time at The Cube and would love to go back again soon!

Merci Mr. Frederic!

This is our kind of holiday made perfect. Frederic and his family are the best hosts in the world. They pass on their love and enthusiasm for this magic spot in every way possible. The Cube is warm bright and fresh with the sounds of water and nature all around. Some lovely drives and walks nearby. So many pretty and historic villages, museums and chateaux to visit. We have never seen such crisp, clean light all around as in the rolling countryside of Bourgogne.

  • 5 of 5
