Come enjoy our European inspired 4 bedroom stone house with fireplaces in both the Living Room and Dining Room. It features high timber ceilings in spacious rooms with a gourmet Kitchen, exquisite Bathrooms, large stone Patios and Decks. Sprawling lawns with intimate views of the Shawangunks surround it.
This is a wonderful home for enjoying family reunions, gathering of friends, wedding nights or a romantic getaway. It is a perfect meeting place for the Holidays. Time can be spent cooking special meals, dining by the fire, entertaining and creating great memories. We can also recommend local caterers who will come to the house with prepared meals.
The house is minutes from Mohonk and Minnewaska Preserve, where you can easily enjoy world class climbing, biking, running, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, cross-country skiing, skate skiing, and snowshoeing. Feel free to ask us about off the beaten track adventures, including waterfalls, remote cliffs, spectacular ridges with views of the Catskills and all the hidden pristine natural wonders.
Additionally being only 5 minutes from New Paltz, you can easily enjoy all this college town has to offer. There are multiple restaurants, bars, wineries, pool halls, antiquing, cafes, shopping, yoga, gyms, climbing gym, movie theater, local farm markets and orchards. We can also direct you to local Historic sights in the immediate area as well as the surrounding Hudson Valley. If you have and interest in botanicals, there is an expansive mature perennial garden on site. We also can lead you to our favorite public gardens.
This is our second stay at Stone House (actually 3rd for one of us!) The house is wonderful and the gardens, spectacular! Gina is so welcoming! She even gave us produce from her garden for our dinner! Home is clean and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking.
Plenty to do in the area! This time we rode bikes on the Walkway Over the Hudson and continued on the rail trail towards Poughkeepsie. Also visited one of the local wineries and shopped downtown. Dinner at the Egg's Nest Restaurant in nearby High Falls, was an experience not to be missed, especially if you grew up in the 60's! And the food was great!
So much to do, so little time!!
We had a great family weekend at the Stone House this past weekend (May 13 - 15 2016). Gina, the owner, is really nice and the house is so beautiful. The fireplace was all set up for a fire, which we sat around one night and played charades. There are games and tons of albums and CDs for music. We hiked at Mohonk one day and drove just a short distance from the house to the Mohonk Visitor's center to start another hike called the Millbrook Ridge ( think). Had to go up the "stairmaster" first, but it was worth it. We would definitely recommend this home - in fact I'm coming back this summer with my college roomates!
The Adwar's from St. James, NY
We stayed here for our wedding weekend with immediate family and had our reception on the property. The house is absolutely amazing down to every detail (fresh flowers from the garden in every room, chocolates on the nightstands, amazing collection of vinyl)! It was perfectly picturesque and Gina was so accommodating throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend this house for a relaxing getaway with beautiful views. I would book it again in a heartbeat!
What a gorgeous house.. The owners were more than accommodating for our large family in town for the weekend!! Could not have asked for a more spacious house and beautiful outdoor landscaping!
For the past eight years, my former college roommates and I have picked a location to meet for a girl's weekend. We live in all corners of the world and this is our time to catch up and have fun! We picked this house for its location and local activities. The house is large enough to accommodate a big group, yet still feels like home. Very clean, nice decor and great cooking kitchen! The grounds in summer are spectacular! The owner, Gina, was as nice as can be! Even offered us some vegetables from her garden!
Local activities included a visit to the Mohonk Mountain House and a hike up to Skytop....through the Lemon Squeeze! Not for the faint of heart, but definitely a powerful experience! There are great restaurants and shops in town and also the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail for biking. So much to do, so little time!
Up until this time, we haven't found a location or house that fit all of our needs that we would make a repeat visit to. I think we have finally found a spot that we would revisit! Thank you, Gina, for letting us stay in your lovely home!
For Memorial Day weekend I rented the Stone House for my family. It was a beautiful home, equipped with everything we needed. The house never felt cramped, even for eleven people. Gina, the owner, was welcoming and eager to help. There was plenty of outdoor space for relaxing and playing, including the wrap around deck and the enormous lawn. My sons-in-law, both children of custom home builders, were fascinated by the construction of this unique house. It was a wonderful home to return to after spending the day experiencing all that New Paltz has to offer. Thank you for such a memorable weekend!
