About Kari and Rod MacLeod

We are a family of 5 who loves being outdoors. We have fallen in love with Duck Head cottage and Crescent Lake. We enjoy our cottage getaway in all 4 seasons and love skiing at nearby Mount Sunapee.

Kari and Rod MacLeod purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Kari and Rod MacLeod chose Dartmouth - Lake Sunapee

We were looking for a cottage on a lake that we could enjoy Springs, Summers and Falls kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing. We also love Winter in New England and were excited about finding a place that was driving distance to a ski mountain, while being able to skate, snowshoe and cross country ski on the lake. We fell in love with Duck Head and have enjoyed every minute of our time there. We love sharing the cottage with friends, family and renters when we can't be there because we want the cottage to be enjoyed as much as possible!

What makes this cottage unique

The house is cozy, quaint and steps away from lakeside fun. We are 20 minutes from Mount Sunapee and all that it has to offer year round.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for a fantastic week in your lovely home. We had four generations up for one final summer hurrah. Weather was cool and calm, kayaking and s'mores, and board games were enjoyed by all. Everyone had plenty of room and our basset hound delighted with tracking all the New Hampshire scents. Thank you!

Warm, lovely, inviting home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this beautiful home in the off-season and we couldn't have had a better time. We relaxed by the fire and played the many board games that the owners have on hand. Everything was clean and so comfortable. We can't wait to come back and enjoy the area again. Loved it!

What a lovely cottAge!

  • 5 of 5

The owners take wonderful care of their lovely home, and it was comfortable and fun to stay here with our family, including the dog. :) On our one rainy day of the week, there were plenty of board games and puzzles for all of us to play together, and the lake is a perfect New Hampshire summer experience - cool enough to be refreshing and yet warm enough to dive right in! The kids worked on perfecting their cannonballs off the dock, kayaking and playing lawn games that were available. Dog walks along the shaded lake road were so peaceful, and the fire pit for s'mores in the evenings was alot of fun, too. We can't wait to go back!!

Great spot for a relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

Very relaxing stay at this beautiful, cozy home. We took full advantage of the what the lake has to offer and had a great time. Cooked meals in the fully stocked kitchen while taking in the sights and sounds of the lake, enjoyed s'mores and stargazing by the outdoor firepit, did lots of cannon balls off the dock, and went out for several kayak and canoe trips. About 30-40 min from Sunapee where we took on a great hike.

Our dog Keely also had a fantastic time. Kari and Rod go out of their way to make you comfortable and welcome. A great spot!

Great Place For a Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time and a wonderful vacation. The water off the dock was deep and great for diving and swimming. The area was very peaceful and relaxing, and the cottage was very comfortable and had all the amenities that you would find in your own home. Definitely recommend this to others.

The house was clean, beautiful and organized. The view of the lake is wonderful. We enjoyed swimming, fishing and boating. S'mores around the fire at night finished off the day. A really great family vacation!

Amazing getaway

  • 5 of 5

Duckhead Cottage is an amazing getaway that provided much needed quiet and rest. The lake is clean, beautiful, and quiet, and the house is perfect--a mix of rustic, immaculate, and up to date. The cottage is well stocked but not cluttered. We did not need to take any extras with us, as all of the water gear, fishing gear, and outdoor items were available for our use. The kitchen has everything necessary for home cooking, and the games provided plenty of entertainment on the one rainy day during our stay. The view is lovely, and nighttime allows spectacular stargazing, with the Milky Way overhead. We stayed for a beautiful summer week with our five young children and made memories that none of us will ever forget. The remote nature of the cottage enabled us truly to be away from it all, and we kept wondering how we would ever leave. We will definitely be back! Thank you for being such kind and accommodating owners and for sharing your beautiful home!
