About Karen Beijer
My husband and I have been married for 25 years. We live about an hour away from this sweet cabin, which is our 2nd home. Owning this cabin is a dream come true! We are enjoying creating a beautiful relaxing space to share with others so they can escape from it all and enjoy being in the present moment. We are now making memories with our two teenage boys in Lake Lure at our cabin and giving them the off grid experience. Our two dogs, Lily and Ollie both enjoy hiking and snuggling at our cabin as well as going in the water down at Broad River. We hope to bring our canoe to the cabin so that renters may also use it. We ask that you treat our cabin as if it is yours.

Why Karen Beijer chose Lake Lure
We knew the moment we drove into the Riverbend Community that we wanted to have our 2nd home there. We had been searching for over a year for the perfect cabin for ourselves and to have as a vacation rental for others to enjoy. Driving though the dirt/gravel roads in Riverbend you will first see the Old Swimming Hole. Up the road and around the corner you will see Mirror Lake with its pavilion, beach, and dock for boating, fishing and swimming. Across the road is the River Walk where you can take in the beautiful Broad River including several deeper swimming hole areas and big gorgeous boulders, and a small peaceful waterfall. There are some tables down at the river to picnic at as well. Past Mirror Lake is Little Mirror Lake that also has a picnic table. The neighborhood has over 350 houses (mostly log homes) and each one has enough land that you can barely see your neighbor. The community is very wooded, and there's wildlife including deer, bobcats, foxes, bears. We do encourage leashing your dogs for their own safety. When we are at the cabin we really get the feeling of not wanting to leave. There is much to see only 10 minutes away in Lake Lure or 15 minutes to Chimney Rock, and an hour to Asheville. The location of the cabin is perfect for zip lining, kayaking, the Tryon International Equestrian Center events, festivals (don't miss the Dirty Dancing Festival in Lake Lure in August), tubing, boating, fishing, breweries, wineries, hiking, biking, horse back riding.
What makes this Cabin unique
We knew from the moment we walked into the cabin that it was THE ONE! The beautiful vaulted ceiling (and exposed beams) was the first thing that caught our eye. The handcrafted one of a kind wagon wheel lighting fixture in the living room gave the space a unique feel. Then it was the stone fireplace and mantle from the 1700's taken from a cabin from West Virginia. There are beautiful winter views of Mirror Lake from the deck which is a great spot to have your morning coffee. Our plan is to adorn the cabin with art work from local artists. The desk and console table are from a local woodworker and was designed by us. The coasters on the wall were created by a local artist and yoga teacher (who is also available or private yoga sessions at the cabin or down by the river). We use natural products to clean the cabin including Doterra Essential oils and their On Guard Cleaner Concentrate. Water, vinegar, Bon Ami are also used. We hope you appreciate some of these unique aspects to our cabin and enjoy it during your stay!

Lake Lure proximity with private coves to explore and see nature.
The cabin isn’t on the water, but that’s ok. It’s so cute and quiet and so close to the many things you can do in the area. We loved the porch, and the baby, spotted deer that greeted us after our first trip to the grocery store (also 10 min tops!) Our family adored the private spaces in the community. We were alone a lot of times at the swimming hole, at the beach, and especially at the nature walk. Lake Lure and Chimney Rock aren’t far at all. We’re in love and will come back! P.S. When they say they’re dog friendly, they mean it!
Great time at the mountains
Kids loved the lake and river walk. Quiet, secluded, great place to reconnect and relax.
Beautiful home. The pictures were great but you just wait till you get there in person. Just beautiful. Really felt like a home away from home. Very cozy. I esp loved all the small details and touches that were put into the house. I feel it made the home and experience even better. Love the different locations close by ( river, watering hole, beach). This place was even great for my three pups who had just as good a time. We lube active lifestyles but boy were they tired. I would highly recommend this house, Karen was a delight and so easy to reach. I would give this house a 20 out of 10 if I could.
We had a great stay at Mountain Lake Escape. The cabin was very clean and had everything we could need. The community is very private. We look forward to going back in warmer months so we can take advantage of the lakes and river!
Perfect place for a family gettaway
The lodge is beautiful, everything is there for a family get together, even a bottle of wine! Clean and relaxing with comfortable beds.
The 'dog gates' worked wonders to keep the toddler from the stairs.
The access to the lake and use of the canoe was perfect. The grandchildren had a lots of fun. Thanks for everything.
Our family had a great stay ringing in the New Year at Mountain Lake Escape! The cabin was perfect, clean and had everything we needed. Karen and Dave have thought of everything - was a great home away from home! Karen was in contact with us while at the cabin in case there was anything we needed (which we didn't but was nice to know the owners were available.) We hope to visit again!
