Homes, Bernard Court House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom 2 Bath Beach access

Beach house on a quiet, secluded beach in fort Morgan area of gulf shores. No busy commercial congestion or large condominium complexes. Relax on the covered deck with excellent views of the gulf of Mexico and mobile bay . Spend the day just steps away on the uncrowded white, sandy beach. Find shells, watch for porpoises and swim in the clear blue waters of the gulf. It's a short drive to several great golf courses, or shopping in gulf shores and the Foley (tanger) outlet centers. Dine at local favorites 'lulu's' owned by Jimmy Buffett's sister, Sassy Bass a local favorite , Behind the Pines great hamburgers Tachy Jacks less than a mile from the house, papa Rocko's for pizza and many more. Close to the house is historic Fort Morgan, or take an easy hike in Bon Secour national wildlife refuge.

A bargain hunting trip to Tanger is a wonderful family activity. Tanger outlet centers have something for everyone. After a day of outlet shopping, everyone will have fun comparing all of the great deals they found

At the west end of the pleasure island peninsula are the remains of Fort Morgan. One of the two forts that protected mobile during the battle of mobile bay, the fort dates from 1812. After touring the fort, there are opportunities to stroll the white beaches, swim, fish or crab, shell hunt, and sunbathe. This spot is a favorite with birdwatchers, who have been known to make rare sightings of migratory birds. A marina, golf course, and extra lodging are all nearby.

Recreate among endangered species and migratory birds. Over 4,000 acres of beach dunes, scrub dunes, fresh water marsh, salt water marsh, and maritime forest make up the Bon Secour national wildlife refuge just west of gulf shores. This coastal refuge is part of the central gulf ecosystem unit part of the migration route of the monarch butterfly, the refuge is also known for its more than 120 species of birds - making it a paradise for bird watchers. Along with birding, the refuge offers opportunities for hiking, swimming, photography, collecting sea shells, and boating. Fishermen enjoy both fresh and saltwater fishing.

Ride the auto ferry to dauphin island for a tour of the sea lab and historic Fort Gaines. Bird-watching and sunbathing are two of the favorite activities on this island paradise. A campground and hiking trail are part of the sanctuary, giving visitors opportunities to spend time observing the neotropical migrant birds and native wildflowers. In the spring, the park is visited by bird lovers anxious to view the annual bird migration.

Cheryle/Owner purchased this house in 2012

Why Cheryle/Owner chose Fort Morgan

We purchased our first house in 2009 and it is only one house over from this one. This one we purchased in 2013. The house in between the two we built in 2015. We love the are because it is quite and pet friendly.

Great place to stay- walk to the beach

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Fort Morgan. Very relaxing away from the crowds. There were four adults and one pet in the home and we had more than enough room to move around and even cook when we were inside. Most of the time, however, was spent on the front deck or in the swing downstairs. The beach is just steps away and not crowded at all. Our lab loved being able to run around and play in the water. The beach buggy and chairs that were provided came in handy for our beach time. We did not have to leave the Fort Morgan area at all for those last minute items. There is a small grocery store about 3 miles away and the Sassy Bass is connected. The food was great there. We also ate a Tacky Jacks which is even closer at the marina. It 's a great place to sit on the water and watch the sunset. We visited Fort Morgan park and you can even take the ferry over to Dauphin Island. Great long weekend trip and we would definitely stay at Sun Place again.

Quiet and peaceful

  • 3 of 5

We were very pleased with our stay here at Sun Place. We were so happy that we could bring our 3 dogs along on this trip to the beach.

The house was very clean and updated. Great location for family visits. Just a short, quick walk to the beach. And our dogs loved it also.

The place was great! The walk to the beach must have been only 30 seconds. We loved the house.

The house was great. I could have spent all my time on the deck, or downstairs on the swing, but of course we wanted to play on the beach too. And the walk to the beach was so short and easy. It was so nice to finally be able to bring our two dogs to the beach with us. They loved it. The deck was great with a locking gate so they could stay out and dry off before bringing them inside.

Cheryle was always so friendly and helpful when I had to call her. We have definitely found the place to always come back to. Thanks for a wonderful week!

A place of history, leisure and nature, the Fort Morgan peninsula extends like a long finger west of Gulf Shores, Alabama. If you're looking to get away from crowded beach bars and tacky souvenir shops, this section of the Alabama Gulf Coast is a good option. Much of the peninsula is part of a protected wildlife refuge, but many beachfront accommodations are available. You may have to drive to Gulf Shores to pick up major supplies, but it's well worth that small hassle to experience these pristine, sparkling sugar-white sands on your beach vacation.
