We purchased our first beach house in 2009.We have been loving the gulf since we were children. My oldest son moved there because he loves it so much.My husband and I own a construction business in Lawley,Alabama and plan to retire near the beach one day
Cheryle/Owner purchased this house in 2012
We purchased our first house in 2009 and it is only one house over from this one. This one we purchased in 2013. The house in between the two we built in 2015. We love the are because it is quite and pet friendly.
We love the open space behind the house. The views of the bay and beach are beautiful. We have two other homes right beside this one, great for family gatherings.Ask about reduced rates when renting multiple homes
We had a very good experience. The weather was great - especially on the first day. We found the provided instructions simple to follow and liked the house very much. The easy access to the beach was the greatest asset. People living in neighboring houses were very friendly as well. We particularly enjoyed watching the dolphins every day as they came really close to land. Fort Morgan was also very impressive and fun to see. We also enjoyed hiking the wildlife refuge.
The only few really minor minuses were the missing dishwasher brush and the missing laundry detergent. We also had some trouble with the lock to the shed downstairs. We had no problems with it the first couple of days, but after that we couldn't even get the key all the way into the lock. Not sure what happened there, but it wasn't a big problem for us.
This was our first time on the Gulf Coast and it was a really good experience. We didn't expect to see this many oil rigs so close by, so that was a new experience for us. I wouldn't say we exactly enjoyed looking at these oil rigs but it was certainly different.
This was our first trip to Fort Morgan. Very relaxing away from the crowds. There were four adults and one pet in the home and we had more than enough room to move around and even cook when we were inside. Most of the time, however, was spent on the front deck or in the swing downstairs. The beach is just steps away and not crowded at all. Our lab loved being able to run around and play in the water. The beach buggy and chairs that were provided came in handy for our beach time. We did not have to leave the Fort Morgan area at all for those last minute items. There is a small grocery store about 3 miles away and the Sassy Bass is connected. The food was great there. We also ate a Tacky Jacks which is even closer at the marina. It 's a great place to sit on the water and watch the sunset. We visited Fort Morgan park and you can even take the ferry over to Dauphin Island. Great long weekend trip and we would definitely stay at Sun Place again.
Great rental short walk to beach and great for pets, will be back
Very nice area loved the fact that it was so natural and not commercialized it was my granddaughters first trip to the each and it was wonderful. She saw her first hermit crabs and seashells and even a great blue heron.
Everything was as expected. Clean, bright and ready when we arrived.
We were very pleased with our stay here at Sun Place. We were so happy that we could bring our 3 dogs along on this trip to the beach.
The house was very clean and updated. Great location for family visits. Just a short, quick walk to the beach. And our dogs loved it also.

A place of history, leisure and nature, the Fort Morgan peninsula extends like a long finger west of Gulf Shores, Alabama. If you're looking to get away from crowded beach bars and tacky souvenir shops, this section of the Alabama Gulf Coast is a good option. Much of the peninsula is part of a protected wildlife refuge, but many beachfront accommodations are available. You may have to drive to Gulf Shores to pick up major supplies, but it's well worth that small hassle to experience these pristine, sparkling sugar-white sands on your beach vacation.
