The perfect bungalow in a prime location. A quick walk to downtown Hood River to all that town has to offer, restaurants, wineries, breweries and boutiques. It is only a block from the 'stairs'. This 2 bedroom/ 2 bath home is ideal for 2 couples or a small family. Plenty of outdoor space including a children's play structure in the fenced in front yard. Also a huge deck to enjoy the sun and check out the wind on the Columbia River. This home has A/C window units in the master bedroom, and one in the main living area. Pets allowed. Perfect Hood River location
I rent through VRBO 3-4 times a year and Hood River vacation is an annual destination. My review is based on many experiences in renting homes around the country.
This house has a great central location in Hood River town, right by the stairs that lead to down town. It has decent views on the front of the house. It is 3 minutes to the center of town by car, 5 minutes to the river, 5 minutes to the tennis courts and recreation center, five minutes to a grocery store and perhaps 7 minutes by car to the local Walmart. If it is a concern, the Hospital is 3 minutes from the house.
The house is fairly spacious for a 2 bedroom, great deck, with inside and outside eating areas.
The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of dishes and utensils. All the appliances are functional.
The draw-backs - the house needs a deep cleaning, it has spiderwebs inside and outside, the older cabinets were dirty and sticky inside, the grill outside was too dirty to touch or put the food on...
Also, it was over 100F, the house needs more than 2 portable AC units to cool down the house sufficiently.
Considering that the bedrooms had only full/queen size beds, it would have been nice to see a couple of sleeping sofas in the leaving room (the writing desk can be replaced with a couch.)
The property management company was not responsive.
Great old home with character and amazing views
Comfortable home, plenty of space. Too bad not all the windows are able to open and take advantage off the wonderful Hood River breezes. (My only criticism)

Great house with an Amazing view.
We loved our stay at the bungalow. As advertised the view is awesome and the location is hard to beat. It's a short walk to all that Hood River's downtown has to offer. The stairs to do so are not for the faint of heart though but it's a very quick drive. The house is spacious and comes equipped with everything you'll need to enjoy your stay. The highlight is of course the huge deck where you'll want to spend most of your time. We hope to be back again same time next year!
Great Location, Convenience, & Hood River Charm
The River City Bungalow provided the perfect home base for our Hood River stay. We were a group of three adults plus dog and the location was ideal and walkable to all the small town had to offer. The 2nd Street Stairs were an especially fun challenge for these flatlanders. The layout of the home is ideal with the kitchen, dining, and living areas located between the two bedroom/bath combinations, nice for privacy. Our favorite aspect of this home was the huge deck overlooking the front yard. This allowed a safe, connected space for our dog to explore and play...happy dog, happy vacationers! There was plenty of comfortable seating inside and out, with an additional large, outdoor dining table/chair set from which to enjoy awesome views of the river and stars while dining. We had the perfect front seat for watching the 4th of July fireworks on the river! Thankyou, Amy, for sharing this property with us. We hope to return in the future.
