Native Oregonian Nate Lindell and his wife Kendra, have spent countless hours on Detroit Lake and in the neighboring forests and invite you to experience one of Oregon's great natural treasures—beautiful Detroit Lake. In fact, Nate proposed to Kendra right on the shores of this very lake. When Nate is not enjoying the surroundings of the wild frontier, he is hard at work pioneering the quality assurance engineering field. They love Oregon and love sharing it with others even more.
Nate and Kendra Lindell purchased this lodge in 2007
This property was designed and custom built by my family in 2007 as a family vacation retreat. Detroit Lake holds a special place in my heart and I welcome you to share this experience and love for the wilderness with us.
We have made every attempt to maximize your stay.
We were super excited to have a house on the lake and out in the woods. We wanted a place where our kids and dog could run and play and not bother others. Before booking I confirmed with the owners that this home would meet those request. We were told yes so we booked it for a last minute trip. We arrived to a home near the water but not on the lake like I thought or hoped for. There were also two very close neighbors and the home backed up to the highway and there was no fence. So letting my kids and dogs go run was not really an option. As others noted in reviews you do have to climb a large and rather steep set of stairs. The home is beautiful and very well laid out. We loved the big open kitchen, the deck looking out into the trees and all the great windows. There was way more space then we needed and it would work for a few families to go and enjoy. However the home is in desperate need of maintenance and a good cleaning. When we first arrived we found a rather messy garage. Then I headed up stairs and it didn't look like the carpet on the steps had not been vacuumed for some time. The walls were dirty and in need of some repairs. The floors in the kitchen had a lot of old food and pet hair especially at the edges. The garbage disposal was leaking and it appears that it was an ongoing issue. There was a pan under the sink with gross slimy water and cleaning supplies floating in it. There were no extra garbage bags in the house. The rug in the living room was dirty (food stuck in it) and stained. There was a tote with laundry soap and it had leaked and soap was all over. The pots and pans in the cabinets looked like they had just been tossed in. The BBQ was rather gross so we decide to cook inside. Some appliances really didn't work and several of the blinds didn't open. I let the owners know and they did say that they were going to head up to address the issues and that the cleaning crew was an on going issue. It was just a little frustrating that we paid $100 cleaning deposit and then I spent a lot of time cleaning, while on vacation and my husband fixed the leaking disposal. We left the home much cleaner then it was when we arrived. If the home was claned and maintained better we would return. But probably for a winter trip since its really not on the lake and there is no view of it from the house.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-day stay at this beautiful home. The lake is just a short walk away and the home was perfect for our group of 7 adults and 2 children and there was room for a couple more adults if needed, although we like renting houses that sleep more than the number of people in our group because we have adults who don't like to share beds, so it worked perfect for us, but there is space for 12 sleepers. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the mornings with a cup of coffee and looking at the lake through the trees. The campfire area behind the house was nice and secluded and a great place to make the perfect s'mores. The beds were comfortable and the open kitchen was great for making our meals. I definitely would recommend this property to anyone looking to rent a lake house on Detroit Lake.
Overall a nice place, but the kitchen needs some attention. The dishwasher didn't work properly, the coffeemaker was horrible and they need to re-stock the dishes and silverware. The house had some really nice amenities; the bikes, foosball, and wonderful fire pit.
This house works well with a large group. The fire pit and tent spaces in the back were enjoyed by all ages. We were a multigenerational family and it fit us fine. One note to be aware of is that you have to climb a full set of stairs to get into the house. Also bring your own frying pans. Like most rentals, the cookware was well used(scratched Teflon) and not really good for frying eggs etc. But I wouldnot expect to find high quality cookware in any rental. The owners were very easy to deal with and we had no problems. The house was well stocked with linens, toilet paper etc. will definitely rent from them again.
Lovely home, amenities, and location. Great for boating & hiking.
Had an awesome time at Detroit Lake Lodge. Having the Detroit Flats Day Use Park a hundred feet from the driveway was icing on the cake. I hope to stay there again.
Located only 35 miles from Hoodoo Mountain Resort. Offering great winter skiing, snowboarding and sledding!!
