We had a fantastic holiday. Downstairs is beautiful, it Is well equipped, spacious and lends itself to large groups. The garden is lovely it has an excellent barbecue area, views to die for and leads to a quiet private beach. Upstairs although perfectly adequate could perhaps do with some modernisation.
We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary in late October, the venue, the village and the weather were perfect
Enjoyed a wonderful holiday at El Chiripero. Fantastic accommodation in a great location with direct access to the beach down a (fairly steep) set of steps at the end of the garden. Lockable hut at the bottom ideal for storing beach equipment to save carrying everything back up to the house at the end of the day. There was something to suit all members of our group (3 generations aged 6 months to 80 years old). Made use of the canoes and eating al fresco every evening taking in the amazing views over the bay. Lots to explore in the local area. Enjoyed day trips to Santiago de Compastelo, the aquarium at A Coruna and a yacht charter from Sada (Cadenote company). Would love to return one day.
Fantastic Galician experience
If you have a large group (>10), want to avoid the tourist crowds and are into relaxing in a spectacular setting then this place is for you. We had a large group of 12 including young children (2) and teenagers (3). This house was spacious and comfortable enough that we never felt like we were on top of each other.
The outdoor patio and garden area was absolutely fantastic and when not preparing meals or sleeping this is where we spent most of our time, basking in the scenic view and enjoying a few cocktails. The private beach and ocean access at the bottom of the garden is great for swimming, kayaking or sunbathing on the sand when the weather is good. The water was clean and refreshing.
If you want to get out of the house the local village of Ares is an authentic Galician village with warm and friendly people. Grocery stores and restaurants are within a few minutes walking distance (be sure to indulge in the excellent seafood and white wine!). Additionally there are interesting towns and sites to visit that are all relatively close and make interesting and entertaining day trips e.g. Santiago de Compostella, Finisterra, Cabo Ortegal, Redes, Lugo, Cedeira and Ortiguera (venue of an International Celtic Music Festival in early July) to mention but a few.
All in all we had an incredibly relaxing time - the sound of the oceans waves lapping up against the shore as we went to sleep or awoke really helped - and truly enjoyed discoverying Galicia with El Chiripero as our base.
Thank you very much for this nice comments, we are very happy that you and your family enjoyed our house and Galicia last summer, we wish to see you again in the future.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for anything you think we can be helpfull.
Thank you very much,
