Bonnie and David designed and built this house in 2008, and have lived here since. We love living in Hawaii and the Mountain View area. The climate is cooler and pleasant. I am a carpenter and design and draw house plans. Bonnie works in the social services sector. We enjoy meeting people and are looking forward to having guests in our home.

Our rental is perfectly located, 20 min. from the Volcano National Park and the Kilauea Caldera. 30 min. from Hilo. The second story apt. is 600 sq. ft. with a full kitchen and bath, king bed, twin day bed as well as a spare cot and crib are available. A private lanai over looks the garden and forest. A quiet place to relax after a day of exploring the island. We provide TV, wifi, hot tub, spices and condiments in the kitchen. Our rental is centrally located for exploring the entire east side of the Big Island. Hope to see yo soon Bonnie and David

Great place

  • 5 of 5

We had stayed in David and Bonnie's condo three years ago. We returned because our first experience was so positive. This time we were not disappointed. The kitchen was well stocked and we were greeted with a bowl of fruit. David was there to greet us and show us around. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit the Puna area.

Hospitable owners and welcome atmosphere at rental property

  • 5 of 5

David and dog greeted us when we arrived at gate and Bonnie was in apartment to welcome us. We loved the wood floor, wood furniture, orchid plants and flowers from the garden, blue ceramic bathroom accessories, porch to gaze out and see the night sky. Place was bright and airy since there were windows on all walls and glass door (with curtain for privacy). There was a sliding door between bedroom and living area. Kitchen was well stocked and there were various fresh fruit on the counter and sliced papaya in fridge. We enjoyed the bird sounds at night (during day too but we were out exploring). House about 2 miles from highway or 20 minutes to Volcano nps. David contacted me first night concerned I might have gotten lost but I had decided to view the lava at Jagger museum overlook after attending mass. The 2 lava pools were visible that night but only one was visible 2 nights later. Take note of mile markers, street signs and way markers so you won't get lost to/from house in the dark since there are no street lights. There is a red rope on gate that glows at night. You need a headlight or flashlight so you can see the lock on the gate in the dark. Owners leave porch light on at night if renters are still out. Dogs stayed inside house but barked in greeting. Bonnie said goodbye on day we left (David already left for work). We enjoyed our stay here very much and wish we could have stayed longer in the island.

Gorgeous Home in Excellent Location

  • 5 of 5

This little apartment on top of Dave and Bonnie's home is gorgeous, relaxing, quiet, and in a great location! I was referred to this rental by a family member that stayed here a couple years ago. This rental property was perfect for our three night stay on the Eastern side of the Island. It is 20 minutes from the Volcano National Park and 30 minutes from Hilo. The property was spotless and had all the amenities we needed. The kitchen was also stocked with condiments, spices, pots, pans, water, etc. The fresh fruit was amazing and gorgeous fresh flowers decorated the apartment. We especially enjoyed eating dinner on the lanai and just relaxing in the rainforest/jungle atmosphere.

The directions Dave gave us were perfect and our GPS worked as well to find the location.

Thank you so much Dave and Bonnie! We will definitely be staying here again when we come back to the Island!

Beautiful Home in a Convenient Location

  • 5 of 5

It might have been hard to find without our GPS unit but it is definitely worth finding. Dave and Bonnie have an absolutely beautiful place and provided many thoughtful extras that made our stay very enjoyable. The flowers and fresh fruit awaiting us upon arrival were a beautiful and tasty added touch. It is convenient to both Volcano National Park and Hilo (and Hilo based activities). Thank you for sharing your home with us. Mahalo, David and Janet
