About the property

A tropical experience awaits you in a quiet setting at Keauhou Resort.

Our remodeled condo is a comfortable, and well equipped beach vacation home. The soothing, lush green color palette with mango color accents, remind you that you are in Hawaii. The kitchen features maple cabinets and generous counter space, and has everything that a cook could need. This one level unit has a remodeled bathroom, with a newly retiled, walk-in shower, with grab bars and a bench. The condo features island style furniture and has a tiled floor throughout. The wall of louvered windows and opposite wall of floor to ceiling glass make the unit airy and light.

This townhouse-style condo is a desirable end unit opening onto a lush, private garden setting. The driveway leads to adjacent parking, steps from the front entrance. Our 850 square foot condo features 20 foot cathedral ceilings with four large fans, an open space layout, and decorator touches throughout. Dine on our 200 square foot lanai, while enjoying the distant , but lovely, ocean view, and the tropical, award-winning landscape of swaying palms, bougainvillea, plumeria, hibiscus, and mango trees. Meander down the garden path, to the two swimming pools.

Included for your use are beach towels and mats, beach toys, beach chairs, boogie boards, and a cooler for your refreshments. Our kitchen is well equipped. Our lanai includes an electric barbecue, and a full patio set as an option to the indoor dining area.

The Keauhou Resort is well situated adjacent to the Kona Country Club, featuring two spectacular golf courses. From our condominium, you can walk a block to the Keauhou Shopping Center, where you can find groceries, restaurants (Sam Choy's, Kenichi Pacific, Bianelli Pizza, Peaberry & Gallette, and others), gift shops, a gas station, a movie theater, post office, and other amenities. On Fridays, the shopping center features many daytime activities such as lei making, ukulele lessons, and a Hawaiian show at 6:00 PM.

An eighth of a mile down the road in the other direction is the beautiful Keauhou Bay, where you can find fishing charters, ocean, kayak, and snorkeling tours, volleyball, picnicking, and fishing. The very popular Fair Wind tour leaves from here. The Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort is on the opposite end of the bay, less than a mile away, where you can find restaurants, a bar, entertainment, manta ray viewing, and a Kona coffee café for your morning enjoyment.

In the other direction, a mile towards Kailua Kona town, is the popular 'snorkel beach', Kaaluu.

About Gayle Mackey

We are from San Jose, California, but we have been spending time in Kona since 2000, when our son moved to the island. Since Ansilla retired from teaching, we consider our condo to be our home away from home.

Roberto enjoys the laid back life style of Kona. It reminds him of his native Argentina. (If you wish, you can write your inquiries in Spanish or Italian).

Gayle Mackey purchased this condo in 2003

Why Gayle Mackey chose Kona Coast

Keauhou is located on the quiet, south side of Kailua-Kona. We love the proximity to the beautiful Keauhou Bay Harbor, with all of its marine activities. Even if we are not always sailing or kayaking ourselves, it's fun to walk down to the harbor, and watch the activity. When we do want to enjoy the downtown scene, we are a short drive away, down Alii Drive. Another advantage of our condo is that we can walk up to the Keauhou Shopping Center for a quick bite at one of its many restaurants, or to grocery shop, browse or enjoy a movie.

What makes this condo unique

What we love the most, is that Keauhou Resort is not a high density development; the grounds are lush and beautiful, the pool is a short walk away, and is never crowded. Another thing that our guests tell us they appreciate about the condo, is that it is one-level, parking is adjacent, and it's fully equipped for a longer stay. They also like that our condo is an end unit, quite private, and a short walk to the pool.

We find it so relaxing. We eat almost every meal outside on the lanai. We know you will love it too.

Wonderful Spacious Clean Unit

  • 5 of 5

I believe this is our third visit to this unit. Well organized and close to the pool but not near enough to get any noise from it. Complex grounds are very well kept. Small garden next to the unit is a joy. Large Tiled shower is a treat. Appreciate all the care that goes into keeping this unit up. I believe a new refrigerator and oven this year.

well maintained condo complex, stylish condo

  • 5 of 5

The condo is well equipped and lovely, landscaping is first-rate. The high ceiling really makes it feel spacious, and the space is well decorated. The private Lanai screened by plants is large and comfortable, and the condo is very close to the pool area (two pools) which is first-rate. Easy walk to the Sheraton, the local pier, and to a mall with a supermarket and a few shops, restaurants (but not close to anything else; not close to the town of Kailua). We were very happy with this rental, and would rent it again were we to visit this part of Hawaii. A few things to keep in mind:

--unlike other units in this complex which are higher on the hill, this unit has no view of the ocean.

--you must have a car (which is not uncommon, of course)

--there is a road near the condo (not the roadway where you park, but a suburban road). If you want to be away from roads this might bother you. It did not bother us.

--the advice on what to do nearby, in the condo guide, is worth reading and in general good. I would just add this advice: for complete novice snorkelers, the beach behind the King Kamehameha Hotel is a wonderful place to learn (75-5660 Palani Road Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740)

--there is no air conditioning, but there are excellent fans. We were never hot inside, and prefer not to use air conditioning in general. If you need arctic cool, this is not for you.

--About 630 in the morning the bugs and the birds begin their morning songs. What a marvelous alarm clock.

Lovely stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at Ansilla and Roberto's condo in Kona. The condo is comfortably furnished, has plenty of privacy, and the kitchen is well-stocked with pots/pans/dishes/etc for preparing shared meals. One evening my parents and two friends came over for dinner, and we had no problem preparing and serving a meal for six. We have a toddler, so we brought a small Therma-rest for her to sleep on, which worked out just fine. I am used to bathing my daughter in a tub, but the shower was spacious enough for me to bathe with her; I think she discovered a love for the shower! Geographically, this condo is conveniently located. You can walk to a number of beautiful locations, and it was easy to travel both north and south of downtown Kona. We hope to stay here again next time we make it to Hawaii! Thank you Ansilla and Roberto for letting us rent your condo for the week; we made many memories on this trip!

Relaxation in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This is my second visit to this extremely cared for little condo but my first visit to this unit (37) and I was not disappointed. This is the perfect location!! Close to the beach, turtles, shopping, a morning walk, farmer's market (Wednesdays), snorkeling without getting wet at the dock 5 minutes walk, and manta Ray's (10 minute walk to the Sheraton). Our unit was private (at the end of the walkway) and 20 steps to the pool area. The unit itself was lovely. We spent most of our time on the patio. The cat next door was a off and on visitor and we had a great time exploring the area around Kona and further afield. Can not recommend this unit highly enough. The owners were wonderful to work with and would happily reach out to them again to arrange another holiday in paradise.

Perfect base for a stay in paradise

  • 5 of 5

This is a really lovely condo and a great base for our stay in Kailua. The kitchen is really well equipped, with everything you need if you are cooking for yourself - the supermarket is very close by. It's clean, spacious and has a lovely lanai and BBQ and a big spacious shower. We were staying for Ironman and it was nice to be slightly out of the town, but not too far away. It's quiet and peaceful and the grounds are maintained to an excellent standard, plus you can walk down to the shore where we snorkelled and saw a big turtle. The resort manager was also really helpful. I would not hesitate to book again if we are lucky enough to return - absolutely loved our stay!
