Why Carla Lieske chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

Truckee is a delightful mix of old west charm and modern convenience. It is so easy to reach, no matter the weather. As a neighborhood, Tahoe Donner has everything guests could need. The comminuty is inviting and welcoming. The streets are quiet and the houses are beautiful. In addition, our home is 20 minutes away from such wonderful ski resorts as Sugarbowl, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar and Boreal. In the summer, we are just a few minutes from swimming in Donner Lake at the Tahoe Donner Beach Club, or at our own Tahoe Donner pools. We truly feel that Chalet Sierra provides the perfect all-season vacation.

What makes this chalet unique

Because we stay at Chalet Sierra ourselves, the house contains so many items that will make your stay perfect. The kitchen is stocked with extras to make cooking a breeze. The sheets, comforters and pillows are luxurious and cozy. There are dozens of movies for the kids (and many for grownups), and there are games and toys. We want our home to be beautiful and comfortable for every guest.

Wonderful experience!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chalet Sierra. There were seven of us, including a 1-year-old, and the home was perfect. It was very clean, well-stocked with everything we needed, and close to all the activities we wanted to do. Carla was extremely responsive and helpful prior to our arrival. I know we'll keep Chalet Sierra in mind if we travel to the Lake Tahoe area in the future.

The Chalet Sierra was a wonderful place to spend a snowy weekend with friends. Carla was incredibly attentive and helpful. The house is well stocked and had all the amenities we needed. My only complaint is the hide-a-bed in the den/4th bedroom, it should be replaced as its not worth sleeping on. Luckily we got the master suite (lovely), but our poor friends drew the short straw.

That said, I would recommend the place and consider staying again!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your lovely review Robin! It means so much to us that our guests enjoy their stay. We are in the process of replacing the sofa bed in the den/4th bedroom, so we will be ready for your next stay. Don't miss the summer in Tahoe!

Easy luxury with loads of things to do for kids and adults

  • 5 of 5

Second time I've stayed here, felt like home so we came back! Very clean, comfortable and spacious house, with big windows on woodsy lot. Accessible and easy but with the mountains right outside. We had five adults and four kids (aged 7-12), but never felt crowded and all had good nights of sleep. Good kitchen for my foodie family; modern and equipped. Big deck. Big laundry room. Huge clean garage for our bikes and canoe. Good internet, and cable for watching some sports. Lots of extra towels, beach chairs, etc. Ten minutes to south part of Truckee for supplies, Safeway, huge Ace Hardware, etc. Huge plus for us is how much Tahoe Donner has to offer so close by--horses were all booked (plan ahead!), but we did all-family mountain biking, hiking, swimming at pool and at Donner Lake, all within about ten minutes of house. Lots of people at beach on weekend, but found lounge chairs each of three visits, rented kayaks and paddle boards, got snacks and adult beverages. Also did some fly casting and rented jet skis at the park next door. Last time I used the driving range at Tahoe Donner and played Coyote Moon, also right there, great course. I had figured we'd be driving to Lake Tahoe every day but ended up never going. Took the route past Sugar Bowl on way out of town, hope to come back in winter soon.

Spacious and Enjoyable Rental!

  • 5 of 5

My son and I enjoyed our week at Chalet Sierra immensely. The cabin is pretty huge and has everything you could want, including some pretty awesome DVDs to pass the time...though we were close to golf, tennis, swimming, and Donner Lake so there wasn't a ton of down time. It was fairly no fuss as well, which was nice because this was my first time doing the cabin rental thing. FYI: you would definitely need a car to enjoy the amenities around. Overall, it was really great and I appreciated how pleasant the experience was as a whole.
