We have been renovating many areas of the home since last year, having most recently just installed a hillside jacuzzi, and converted an old wood work-shop below the garage into a billiards room. We also converted one of the four master bedrooms in the main house into a bunk room equipped with a 2 bunk beds, ping pong, tv, and private covered patio. This house has ultimate privacy. Still, it is only a 5 minute walk to Lake Arrowhead village.
Our home has many areas in and around the grounds for complete seclusion. What we love most about the home is that its big enough to entertain large groups, yet cozy enough to feel at home if it's just us.
The cabin layout, property and location was wonderful. Our family group of 10 had a wonder time. However, I was disappointed in the complicated check in process including needing to elicit assistance from a different realty office as our property management office did not expect us to arrive the day we did. We needed to let them know about our reservation. The cabin had a lot of trash outside. The property office when notified of the large trash pile on the patio did send 2 men right away to clean it up. The cabin seemed dirty and was lacking items we thought would of been included: hand soap for the bathrooms or by the kitchen sink, face cloths only bath towels provided. The kitchen had no dishtowels or no paper towels. The office was notified and no supplies were provided. We ended up having to buy some of the listed items.
The house is huge with lots to do, we were very happy with that part. The downside was many things didn't work, the oven is completely out(which we had to throw away $60 in groceries due to that)all bathroom door handles are busted, along with the shower heads and knobs and the hot water was out(although a super nice guy came to fix). The directions said serveral times that all the dishes were to be clean and put away but all the dishes when we got there were dirty. In addition the house is for sale so I am guessing this may be a reason for some of the problems not being fixed. FYI the road gettting in and out is nearly Impossible in the snow or worse ice. We made it through but it's takes forever to go only a mile because everyone in between blocks the road, I feel like we spent half of our trip digging people out so we could get by them on the one lane road. I am vrbo owner so I understand things go out but there was no follow up on the oven and not really care that it didn't work. I gave 3 stars instead of 2 because we made it work but I think others would be very disappointed.
Nick was very easy to work with. Pictures give a pretty accurate idea of the place. Everything was clean and in order. Kitchen was really great for a group of people preparing and eating meals together. Living room was comfy cozy. One reviewer complained about the condition of the furniture--we found everything to be in good condition, even if cabin-y. The reading nook upstairs had a very comfortable chair and a beautiful view. The guest "suite" and pool room were a bit musty, so we aired out the room all day long and it was much better before being slept in that night. The kitchen table benches were quite worn, but they did not detract from our wonderful mealtimes around the beautiful big table. It was a close, easy walk to the village, but I would skip going to the village and spend more time at the cabin, because there isn't all that much there, and the cabin is such a haven. I would love to be there in the summer some time, to take advantage of the outdoor space, as it looked very inviting.
The reason I gave 4 stars is because the yard was a bit of a mess after a tree had fallen down. It hadn't all been cleaned up, which made it difficult to get to the jacuzzi (which was wonderful--we used it both nights we were there) because there were tree limbs in the way. I also thought it was a bit lacking to not have salt and pepper shakers on the table, sugar for coffee and tea, or hand soap in the bathrooms. Pool/beach towels would be great as well, because no one wants to use their shower towel for swimming, and they are quite bulky to pack.
We had 4 boys and 3 girls and 2 sets of adults! EVERYONE had an AMAZING time and plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the property! Super close to the village and Lake! We all enjoyed pool table, ping pong, and Spa! Highly recommend this place, we will be back!
Nice Cabin & Property! All the amenities!! Great for a large party, we had 9, 4 couples & a single, with room to spare! Close to village, shopping & food! Comfortable beds & large kitchen. I will rent there again with a large party!
We had a wonderful time in Nick's rental and created great memories!! We had two families plus grandparents and it was more than enough space! The home was nicely appointed just a described. While not super luxurious, it was rustic in a good way -- giving us that true mountain cabin experience. Everyone loved the restrooms - they seem to have been newly renovated. Awesome showers! We enjoyed the fabulous jacuzzi, played ping-pong, brought our own board games and an excellent layout for a fun game of tag. As most cabins in Lake Arrowhead there are quite a few stairs. for the 3 different levels. Our group was ok with it, but just be aware in case there are any in your group with limited mobility.
When we booked 6 weeks out there was plenty of snow forecasted...but then we went into a heat wave a couple of weeks before our trip. Needless to say we weren't able to play in the snow nearby - we drove to the Snow Drift Tubing Park about 30 minutes from the house. A ton of fun and highly recommended for a half day excursion. Can't wait to come back when there is more snow on the ground!
While essentials are provided, recommend bringing extra towels, toilet paper and essentials.
