October 21, 2011 – New York Times, Emily Brady:

“Sonoma County may be best known for its wineries and the tony (sic) towns of Healdsburg and Sonoma, but West County, as locals call the area around Sebastopol, is where the vineyards begin to give way to rolling hills, bohemian enclaves and the wild Pacific Coast beyond. Sure, there’s wine produced here — excellent pinots in particular — but there’s plenty to explore beyond it, especially around Sebastopol, where in recent years new restaurants, shops and live music venues have opened, securing the town’s position as West County’s arts and culture hub.”

American as Apple Pie

“‘I’ve been to Napa and Sonoma,’ you hear people say, as if they were one and the same. Sure, Sonoma’s 300-plus wineries, like those of vine-centric Napa, offer peak wine tasting, from Ravenswood’s deep Zinfandels to Gloria Ferrer’s sophisticated sparklers. But if you’ve visited only the county’s wineries, come back to sample the astounding diversity that makes Sonoma one of America’s travel treasures.

Spend some time floating in an inner tube down the Russian River and walking amid ancient giants—one over 1,400 years old—at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. Poke around the old Russian stockade at Fort Ross, which turns 200 in 2012, or the Spanish adobe mission, San Francisco Solano, in Sonoma town. Hunt for antiques along Petaluma’s downtown Victorian row, and dine on seasonal sake-steamed, aged abalone at Michelin-starred Cyrus in Healdsburg. And don’t miss a flaky, fruit-packed slice of Gravenstein pie from Mom’s Apple Pie, a roadside stop outside Sebastopol. It ranks up there with a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir as a real taste of Sonoma.”

Great experience.

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Wineberry Lodge and Blackberry Cottage over the Thanksgiving week. Our experience was truly extraordinary. Heidi and Brent have taken extra steps to insure that this property is above and beyond your expectations. We were greeted with welcoming gifts of wine and fruit and a unit fully stocked with bottled water and all the necessities to make our stay perfect. The outdoor kitchen is unbelievable and we used it every night we were there. Brent was so helpful with our Thanksgiving meal, preparing many of the items himself. He also gave us instructions in how to use the brick oven and we prepared pizzas one night. We were very secure with the Boyles as the gate to the house is keypad controlled. Anything we needed was provided. I am so happy that we chose this place as it made our stay so much more enjoyable. Thanks, Heidi and Brent, for sharing your property with us.

Thanksgiving at Wineberry

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent 4 nights at Wineberry and Blackberry Lodge over Thanksgiving. The experience couldn't have been better. Brent and Heidi went out of their way to make it perfect, from cooking our Thanksgiving meal to teaching us how to use the outdoor pizza oven. The outdoor cooking/entertainment area was our favorite gathering spot. I highly recommend Wineberry Lodge for anyone that enjoys being outdoors/wine and good food. Also, for touring vineyards the location is an excellent spot to travel out of. Nothing is to far away. Thanks Brent and Heidi for a memorable holiday!

You Don't Know What You Are Missing !

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at many different homes during our travels , but this one by far is the most amazing . The owners are so thoughtful and make sure every detail is perfect for your stay . We enjoyed celebrating my 40 th bday there with 3 other couples . Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome sign addressed specifically to us . Inside the house Heidi had made personal touches to celebrate the birthday weekend . Not only did she decorate but left is wine and a welcome card . The house is immaculate and there is nothing that is lacking . The outdoor kitchen is amazing and the pizza oven was a huge hit. We went to the winery next to the house , which was also a fun experience . Heidi and Brent are amazing people and we feel so blessed that we were able to stay at their Wineberry lodge . Thanks again !

MOST AMAZING VACATION EXPERIENCE EVER...

  • 5 of 5

I cannot begin to review this vacation rental experience without saying the following ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! You will never stay in another rental property, hotel etc. where you will be made to feel the way we felt staying with Heidi and Brent!!! From the moment of our arrival, we felt nothing short of pampered! We were there for a 25th anniversary trip and there were 4 couples meeting up at different times in the trip. Upon our arrival, not only did we step into a FABULOUS, immaculate, welcoming home, Heidi provided a personal touch with an anniversary welcome with wine, balloons and a personalized card to welcome the group. No detail was missed by this amazing couple! Every possible amenity is provided - from wonderful robes in each room, to special "hot tub" wine glasses and even wine markers to identify our glasses! The outdoor kitchen was the envy of EVERY person in our party. PLEASE take the time enjoy the effort these folks put into making your stay restful, beautiful and stress free. We spent two nights cooking pizzas in the wood fired pizza oven and Brent even came over to share a glass of wine and provide some "free instruction" to make our evening even better! Wineberry Lodge is located in an ideal spot for visiting wineries (there is one right outside your kitchen window), excellent dining nearby, ease of traveling to Napa, San Fran and several other beautiful areas along the Pacific Coast and Northern California. The Sebastopol area is welcoming and friendly and this property CANNOT be topped! We even needed to have an item shipped to the house and Heidi graciously allowed it to be shipped to her business and delivered it to us immediately upon arrival! Hospitality, generosity, friendliness, genuine care for the guests and the most welcoming attitude I have ever encountered is EXACTLY what you can expect with a stay at WINEBERRY LODGE. I promise you will NOT be disappointed. We will be staying there again without question on our next trip!! Thank you Heidi and Brent for the best 25th anniversary trip we could have ever imagined!!!! Take Care! Mark & Stacie Whetstone and the Clan!

Outstanding property with beautiful house and grounds. Spent plenty of time outdoors enjoying the outdoor kitchen, bar & wood fired pizza oven. Plenty to do including bocce ball, bags, ping pong and hot tubbing. Hope to visit here again next year!

We loved our stay in WineBerry Lodge.

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we drove up it felt like we were welcome guests. The entire property is immaculate. The home is extremely well appointed, and spotless. The outdoor kitchen replete with a wood fired pizza oven was the center of attention and the central gathering place since we rented BlackBerry Cottage behind WineBerry Lodge as well. The spa has more jets in it than we've ever seen. The grounds are spacious, well manicured and serene. Privacy is assured with abundant pines, and Japanese maples. We're coming back !
